My godmother moved to Cliveden Manor when her previous care home closed down. Even though she has a degenerative condition, her mental faculties appeared to improve after the move, which I attribute to the excellent care she has received. She is in The Willows, which looks after residents with dementia. There are multiple activities every day, entertainers performing and frequent trips. The residents go on boat trips from Marlow, are taken to Kew Gardens and even go ice-skating. Wheelchairs on the ice! I believe these many stimulating activities are greatly beneficial in maintaining cognitive function and engagement with one's surroundings.
The medical care is managed well through a local GP, with relatives being invited to an annual medication review.

The staff are warm and caring, showing a real affection for the resident and impressive attention to detail. I have recommended Cliveden Manor to friends, as it is the best care home I have visited.

On looking for somewhere my friend would be well looked after.
We were warmly welcomed on our first visit. Greeted warmly by every staff member throughout our visit, this helped us to decide our final decision.

In December 2024, I contracted Cliveden Manor Care Home to see if they could offer respite care to my father who had been taken ill abroad. The team worked closely with me as my father was repatriated. They went out of their way to ensure that he was successfully transferred to Cliveden Manor on Christmas Eve. It was an entirely patient-led process. No red tape. No massive forms. It was a great relief to me and my family to have him settled before Christmas.

Review from D C (Sister of Resident) published on 31 October 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I have found the care home very welcoming, efficient, caring and the environment very friendly and comfortable. When I have raised any queries on behalf of my sister, while she was staying for 2 weeks respite care, they were dealt with efficiently and quickly. My sister and I have now decided that she will stay permanently as a resident. They have made her so welcome, responded promptly to care needs and the client liaison manager has been particularly kind, understanding and has gone the extra mile to make sure my sisters care and comfort is a priority.

My mother lived at Cliveden Manor Care Home from February 2023 until she passed away in September of 2024. I want to take the opportunity to thank all the wonderful staff at Cliveden Manor for the excellent care given to my mother over the last 20 months and especially during the last 3 months. Although she strongly resisted going into Cliveden and was very angry with me for 'locking her up', she genuinely came to love living there and calling it home. I think the reason she loved it so much was the exceptional level of care she received. I know she felt a great deal of affection for all of her caregivers and the nursing staff. The team there is really outstanding, and I couldn't be happier with the care she received. We should all be so lucky as to live in a place like Cliveden Manor for our final years! Since I live in the US, it was a great comfort to me to know that my mother was loved and taken care of. The lovely staff felt like family to me and mum.

My mother has been living at Cliveden Manor Care Home for 3 months now. She is always saying what a lovely home it is, and that all the staff are very helpful and friendly. Mum has recently changed rooms. The client liaison manager, was extremely caring, patient and considerate, helping mum to find the room that best suited her needs and preferences. She has been extremely supportive to both me and mum and we are very grateful to her for all her help throughout the process. She has been professional and caring. Mum is very settled now.

I stayed at Cliveden Manor for 3 weeks and I will certainly return. The rooms were lovely and I found the staff could not have been more helpful. There was always something happening to keep the residents occupied but if one wanted to be alone the staff would pop into our room to check we were OK. I give it 9 out of ten.

My mother lived at Cliveden Manor Avery Collection for 20 months. She was so happy there. She loved the carers and staff and felt safe and well cared for. The staff are exceptional and could not have done more for Mum, professional, respectful and so very caring.

The whole atmosphere at Cliveden Manor is just lovely, staff, music, flowers, and immaculately clean. Mum enjoyed the food and loved her home. A few weeks after she moved in, she said to me 'Don't worry I will never be lonely here'. We, as her family were given a warm welcome whenever we visited too. We were blessed she spent her last months in such a warm and safe place. I cannot speak highly enough. Thank you.

Mum is a relatively new resident and was understandably very apprehensive and nervous about leaving her home. The team at Cliveden Manor couldn't have done more to help and support both Mum and myself throughout the whole process of moving. Mum is settling in really well; says that she feels safe, meeting other residents, enjoying a lovely variety of meals and joining activities. It's such a pleasure to visit her in such a warm, comfortable and welcoming environment. A huge 'thank you' to all the staff for their care, kindness and friendly greetings.

As a visitor it is a pleasant hotel-like experience as you enter the building, which remains throughout the communal areas and private rooms. Receptionists and staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. Being able to visit the café and make drinks at any time is excellent. Outside place/areas for sitting are excellent, as is the linear garden experience. Vehicle parking is an issue. Two things here: first, there weren't enough spaces and it's very tight in the underground parking. Second, there was a vehicle (car) parked outside the front with two wheels on the pavement. This isn't a one off situation, but has happened numerous times over my visits - more or less every time. Obviously if this is allowed you can't get past with a wheelchair.

Karen HolmesJob Title:Clinical Home ManagerJoined: 2024

I was born in Sunderland; however, my family emigrated to South Africa when I was a child, but I never forgot my roots and always knew I would return one day. I just didn’t know it would take me so long.

I completed my schooling and I enrolled on nursing. I qualified as a general Nurse, working a lot in the elderly people’s wards. After a few years, I transferred to paediatrics and ultimately settled in the Critical care units.

In 1990, I continued my training by specialising in Medical and Surgical Critical care with a speciality in Cardio-thoracic nursing. During my nursing career, I worked my way up from a Staff Nurse to a Deputy Nursing Manager of a 240-bed private hospital.

I returned to England in August 2018 and obtained my NMC pin by starting as a pre-registered nurse, completing the required English test, Nursing test and OSCE. I was lucky to be working within the Adult Social Care environment and was supported and mentored by my colleagues, and obtained my PIN in November 2018.

Following my successful enrolment with the NMC, I quickly worked my way up to becoming a Clinical Deputy Manager at a Care Home in London.

In 2022, I was chosen to be a Digital Champion for NCL. This role has allowed me to become involved in all the digital aspects of ASC and allowed me to share knowledge within our settings and obtain funding for the home to move from paper-based documents to digital technology.

On my days off, I love spending time with my children and grandchildren, reading a good book or just taking walks.

I am very committed to ensuring that our residents are at the centre of all that we do and are treated with care, dignity, and respect. I am always willing to listen to their concerns or just have a friendly chat.

I joined Cliveden Manor in March 2024 as a Clinical Deputy Manager. I completed my Level 5 Leadership and Management Programme in early 2025, and I was promoted from Clinical Deputy Manager to Clinical Home Manager in September 2025.

I joined Avery Health Care in 2020. Initially, I worked in Ascot Grange Home and I transferred to Cliveden Manor in August 2023.

I have been in sales for most of my career.

I worked with those who were requiring support in the property market and wishing to downsize which comes with personal involvement.

Having had to research a care home for my mother-in-law, I realised that the role of Customer Liaison Manager was one that I wished to pursue.

I thoroughly enjoy working in this environment, helping to support those looking for care or a lifestyle change for their family, it is rewarding to get to know the residents in such lovely surroundings and with the dedicated staff.

I started my career as an administrator in a primary school in 2013, I moved to the care industry in 2018 and haven’t looked back since. Every day is different and I love the challenge it brings! Our values and ethos make the workplace a happy and thriving environment, which is something I hope to contribute to when recruiting for the home. In my role, I support Cliveden with finding the best team and making sure all our staff are happy and feel valued no matter what job they do. I particularly have a passion for working with those living with dementia and doing all I can to enrich their lives.

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009 and sadly passed away 6 years later. Helping to care for her made me realise that it was something that I wanted to do.
