I came here in June 2015 for a 2-week respite visit, it was so enjoyable I asked to stay. Over time there have been changes to both residents and staff, like me they soon realised what a happy place it is and quickly gelled into the system, engaging in the many activities provided. This is not a " care home but a " home with care". I am very happy, which allowed my children to relax with that knowledge.

Overall Cliveden Manor is an excellent care home in terms of décor, the size of rooms, cleanliness and care. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

However, there has been an imbalance between residents requiring nursing care over those requiring assisted living. On 2 occasions there have been communication issues between nursing staff, regarding aftercare following my mother's brief visits to the hospital; and a reliance on agency nurses. The latter is common to many care homes. An ongoing issue at Cliveden Manor is the variable quality of food. Despite promises of improvement in the past 2 years nothing has changed. Cliveden Manor acquired a new manager last December who is a registered nurse and has managerial experience. The issues mentioned above are being addressed.

Dear Sandra
We really appreciate your feedback and you are correct - our new GM, Victoria Forsythe, is hugely experienced and has already made many changes in our community.

Her two main objectives are to eradicate agency nurses (for which she has a robust plan in place) and ensure that our residents' dining experience returns to the excellent 5* service we pride ourselves on offering.

Both my wheelchair bound parents are at Cliveden Manor. There is nowhere else quite like it and it is just perfect for them and their needs. The staff are friendly and the nursing is professional. The social side of the home is outstanding and the entertainment it provides is what makes my parents enjoy it so much. The facilities are first class and the food is terrific. Families are made to feel welcome at all times, and we have been to family meals and Xmas parties at Cliveden Manor. My parents are in the coffee bar by reception most days as the busy but relaxed community feel is what makes them happiest. I would recommend Cliveden Manor to anyone. The professional management of the place gives us confidence that this is the best place for my parents.

Cliveden Manor is a home from home with dedicated, loving and hard working staff. My mother lived there in the 'Willows', which is for residents suffering with dementia and Alzheimer's. During the year she was there, the care she received was over and above anyone could have wished for, with staff having time to get to know the personality of each resident and their idiosyncratic ways. When visiting my mother, I always felt like I was amongst an extended family. Sitting with other residents in their lounge and getting to know them, joining them for musical sessions, quizzes, art session and much more. During my lengthy search for a suitable care home, visiting thirteen in total, one of the many things Cliveden Manor stood out from any other establishment, was the fact that the staff sat down with the residents at meal times, helping if needed, but more importantly talking with them (not at them), which I did not find in any other establishment I visited. Thank you, Cliveden Manor.

The wonderful discovery of Signature Cliveden Manor has been like sunshine on a Spring day or a welcome breath of fresh air! From initial contact with endless enquiries, through to the big moving day, through to my Mum's newly acquired sense of well-being after just 4 months at Signature Cliveden, I extend our heartfelt thanks from both of us. The environment of Signature Cliveden is beautiful with delightful shared spaces in which to meander along in peace or stop and chat a while with other residents and carers. The bedroom suites are finished to the highest standard, maintained immaculately by housekeeping and are spacious too, with every opportunity to personalise in whatever way a resident chooses. And the staff, well, they are all just unbelievably lovely! Happy, supportive, professional, compassionate, attentive, encouraging, discrete and ever generous with their smiles and welcomes. For a lady in her 80's who was adamant she would never live in a residential home, Mum is thriving and as happy as can be!

I recently helped a new resident to move into Cliveden Manor and would like to say how helpful all of the staff teams were in making the move easier by being so welcoming. From the receptionist greeting us, to laundry team labelling clothes, housekeepers for making the bed just as the lady liked it and maintenance putting items up straight away. It was very homely from day one!

A very well run and truly caring environment for the elderly. I have no complaints at all about my mother's experience here. She has settled in quickly and made some good friends. From my point of view, it's an enjoyable place to visit, the parking is easy and the coffee excellent!

Having been to several homes as my Mother's dementia has progressed, I can confidently say that Cliveden Manor is outstanding. The staff are so very kind and caring to her, and there are enough lovely and well-trained staff to ensure our Mother has the very best. In addition the whole environment is very carefully designed to provide a safe and attractive environment for her. That incidentally makes it a lovely place for family and friends to visit. I would also highlight the activities team, who are constantly finding ways to provide stimulation for he residents.

In summary - we are very happy indeed!

Thank you all so much. What a wonder place, you exceeded our expectation and guided us through a difficult time with grace and consideration. Cliveden Manor is head and shoulders above all of the other facilities that I looked around. Clearly the best.
My mother in law was looked after very well, nothing was too much trouble and it gave my wife and I great peace of mind to know that everything was all organised.

I cannot recommend you highly enough, or thank you enough for your help.

Karen HolmesJob Title:Clinical Home ManagerJoined: 2024

I was born in Sunderland; however, my family emigrated to South Africa when I was a child, but I never forgot my roots and always knew I would return one day. I just didn’t know it would take me so long.

I completed my schooling and I enrolled on nursing. I qualified as a general Nurse, working a lot in the elderly people’s wards. After a few years, I transferred to paediatrics and ultimately settled in the Critical care units.

In 1990, I continued my training by specialising in Medical and Surgical Critical care with a speciality in Cardio-thoracic nursing. During my nursing career, I worked my way up from a Staff Nurse to a Deputy Nursing Manager of a 240-bed private hospital.

I returned to England in August 2018 and obtained my NMC pin by starting as a pre-registered nurse, completing the required English test, Nursing test and OSCE. I was lucky to be working within the Adult Social Care environment and was supported and mentored by my colleagues, and obtained my PIN in November 2018.

Following my successful enrolment with the NMC, I quickly worked my way up to becoming a Clinical Deputy Manager at a Care Home in London.

In 2022, I was chosen to be a Digital Champion for NCL. This role has allowed me to become involved in all the digital aspects of ASC and allowed me to share knowledge within our settings and obtain funding for the home to move from paper-based documents to digital technology.

On my days off, I love spending time with my children and grandchildren, reading a good book or just taking walks.

I am very committed to ensuring that our residents are at the centre of all that we do and are treated with care, dignity, and respect. I am always willing to listen to their concerns or just have a friendly chat.

I joined Cliveden Manor in March 2024 as a Clinical Deputy Manager. I completed my Level 5 Leadership and Management Programme in early 2025, and I was promoted from Clinical Deputy Manager to Clinical Home Manager in September 2025.

Louise Palmer
Louise PalmerJob Title:Client Liaison ManagerJoined: 2020

I joined Avery Health Care in 2020. Initially, I worked in Ascot Grange Home and I transferred to Cliveden Manor in August 2023.

I have been in sales for most of my career.

I worked with those who were requiring support in the property market and wishing to downsize which comes with personal involvement.

Having had to research a care home for my mother-in-law, I realised that the role of Customer Liaison Manager was one that I wished to pursue.

I thoroughly enjoy working in this environment, helping to support those looking for care or a lifestyle change for their family, it is rewarding to get to know the residents in such lovely surroundings and with the dedicated staff.

Sam Monk
Sam MonkJob Title:Business Administrator

I started my career as an administrator in a primary school in 2013, I moved to the care industry in 2018 and haven’t looked back since. Every day is different and I love the challenge it brings! Avery is a wonderful company to work for and I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to grow. Our values and ethos make the workplace a happy and thriving environment, which is something I hope to contribute to when recruiting for the home. In my role, I support Cliveden with finding the best team and making sure all our staff are happy and feel valued no matter what job they do. I hope the team feel they can approach me for anything, and my door is always open, even if I don’t know the answer to the question – I’ll always give it a go!

Sarah Knowles
Sarah KnowlesJob Title:Dementia Care ManagerJoined: 2023

I joined Cliveden Manor as a Dementia Care Manager in September 2023.

I previously worked as the Registered Manager at a Residential Home in Oxfordshire.

I worked there for 10 years, working my way up from care assistant through various roles and I was in the role of manager for over 4 years.

I have worked in the elderly care sector since 2011 and I knew straight away that it was a career that I wanted to follow.

I particularly have a passion for working with those living with dementia and doing all I can to enrich their lives.

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009 and sadly passed away 6 years later. Helping to care for her made me realise that it was something that I wanted to do.

Cliveden Manor is a lovely home with a great reputation and I enjoy supporting my residents, family members and team members.
