The Care Staff are superb with the residents, showing genuine concern for their welfare in every way. My mother had nothing but good to say about her care and appreciated the warmth and attentiveness of the staff's relationships with her. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and efficient with
residents and visitors alike. There were a number of issues with the handling of residents' "spending money" particularly in keeping track of balances and providing information to residents and family. Contact with the more senior management was not particularly accessible in the earlier months but has improved more recently. Likewise, the standard and variety of food has not always been what one would expect in a residential home of this calibre but has started to improve. The room was first-class, always clean and pleasant; laundry well done and normally promptly returned. My mother relished the very wide choice of activities, both physical and mental, throughout the course of every day.

This is a very nice care home and the staff are very good. I have no issues at all with the care provided.


All is not so good though if your relative has dementia and their needs start to change. My mother had Alzheimer's and was becoming "difficult". After one year here, my mother was issued 1

months notice to leave. They declined to move her to the dementia floor because she would have been "too disruptive". We were then forced to find another home for her with all the incumbent stress that caused. The management attitude to us changed completely over this period as it became apparent they wanted her out.


And what is more, they keep the £4000 "membership fee" you pay when you first join despite it being their decision to end the relationship.

Our mother moved into Cliveden Manor 14 months ago – initially into one of the spacious assisted living rooms and then as her condition progressed into a small room in the Willows (Dementia suite).
Our mother enjoys life at Cliveden Manor especially the fantastic entertainment programme – it is super
to see her singing and clapping to the live music and she loves so many of the musical activities. Not only are activities available but the whole care team work to ensure that as many residents as possible enjoy them.
We have been struck by the care shown by the staff – for example sitting with my mother as she struggles to finish her food – long after the other residents have finished and taking the trouble to match my mother’s outfits and jewellery and encouraging her to go to the hairdressers so she looks and feel her best.

I moved into Cliveden Manor in June 2016 and think I made a very wise decision in coming her. The staff are helpful, cheerful and kind, the surroundings and rooms are pleasant and there are a variety of activities organised for us. There is a wide choice of food at mealtimes and we are served with a
smile. The festive celebrations (eg. Burns Day and St David's Day) are prepared to give the residents a happy experience.

I have lived here for two and a half years and during that time I have needed care after spells in hospital. All have been given with respect and kindness by all the staff. The food is very good and a variety on the menu. The activities are varied and keep the brain working and are great fun.

I came here in June 2015 for a 2-week respite visit, it was so enjoyable I asked to stay. Over time there have been changes to both residents and staff, like me they soon realised what a happy place it is and quickly gelled into the system, engaging in the many activities provided. This is not a " care
home but a " home with care". I am very happy, which allowed my children to relax with that knowledge.

Overall Cliveden Manor is an excellent care home in terms of décor, the size of rooms, cleanliness and care. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.


However, there has been an imbalance between residents requiring nursing care over those requiring assisted living. On 2 occasions there have

been communication issues between nursing staff, regarding aftercare following my mother's brief visits to the hospital; and a reliance on agency nurses. The latter is common to many care homes. An ongoing issue at Cliveden Manor is the variable quality of food. Despite promises of improvement in the past 2 years nothing has changed. Cliveden Manor acquired a new manager last December who is a registered nurse and has managerial experience. The issues mentioned above are being addressed.

Both my wheelchair bound parents are at Cliveden Manor. There is nowhere else quite like it and it is just perfect for them and their needs. The staff are friendly and the nursing is professional. The social side of the home is outstanding and the entertainment it provides is what makes my parents enjoy
it so much. The facilities are first class and the food is terrific. Families are made to feel welcome at all times, and we have been to family meals and Xmas parties at Cliveden Manor. My parents are in the coffee bar by reception most days as the busy but relaxed community feel is what makes them happiest. I would recommend Cliveden Manor to anyone. The professional management of the place gives us confidence that this is the best place for my parents.

Cliveden Manor is a home from home with dedicated, loving and hard working staff. My mother lived there in the 'Willows', which is for residents suffering with dementia and Alzheimer's. During the year she was there, the care she received was over and above anyone could have wished for, with staff
having time to get to know the personality of each resident and their idiosyncratic ways. When visiting my mother, I always felt like I was amongst an extended family. Sitting with other residents in their lounge and getting to know them, joining them for musical sessions, quizzes, art session and much more. During my lengthy search for a suitable care home, visiting thirteen in total, one of the many things Cliveden Manor stood out from any other establishment, was the fact that the staff sat down with the residents at meal times, helping if needed, but more importantly talking with them (not at them), which I did not find in any other establishment I visited. Thank you, Cliveden Manor.

The wonderful discovery of Signature Cliveden Manor has been like sunshine on a Spring day or a welcome breath of fresh air! From initial contact with endless enquiries, through to the big moving day, through to my Mum's newly acquired sense of well-being after just 4 months at Signature Cliveden, I
extend our heartfelt thanks from both of us. The environment of Signature Cliveden is beautiful with delightful shared spaces in which to meander along in peace or stop and chat a while with other residents and carers. The bedroom suites are finished to the highest standard, maintained immaculately by housekeeping and are spacious too, with every opportunity to personalise in whatever way a resident chooses. And the staff, well, they are all just unbelievably lovely! Happy, supportive, professional, compassionate, attentive, encouraging, discrete and ever generous with their smiles and welcomes. For a lady in her 80's who was adamant she would never live in a residential home, Mum is thriving and as happy as can be!

I recently helped a new resident to move into Cliveden Manor and would like to say how helpful all of the staff teams were in making the move easier by being so welcoming. From the receptionist greeting us, to laundry team labelling clothes, housekeepers for making the bed just as the lady liked it
and maintenance putting items up straight away. It was very homely from day one!

Having been to several homes as my Mother's dementia has progressed, I can confidently say that Cliveden Manor is outstanding. The staff are so very kind and caring to her, and there are enough lovely and well-trained staff to ensure our Mother has the very best. In addition the whole environment
is very carefully designed to provide a safe and attractive environment for her. That incidentally makes it a lovely place for family and friends to visit. I would also highlight the activities team, who are constantly finding ways to provide stimulation for he residents.
In summary - we are very happy indeed!

Karen Holmes

Job Title: Clinical Home Manager Joined: 2024

I was born in Sunderland; however, my family emigrated to South Africa when I was a child, but I never forgot my roots and always knew I would return one day. I just didn’t know it would take me so long.


I completed my schooling and I enrolled on nursing. I qualified as a general Nurse, working a lot in the elderly people’s wards. After a few years, I transferred to paediatrics and ultimately settled in the Critical care units.


In 1990, I continued my training by specialising in Medical and Surgical Critical care with a speciality in Cardio-thoracic nursing. During my nursing career, I worked my way up from a Staff Nurse to a Deputy Nursing Manager of a 240-bed private hospital.


I returned to England in August 2018 and obtained my NMC pin by starting as a pre-registered nurse, completing the required English test, Nursing test and OSCE. I was lucky to be working within the Adult Social Care environment and was supported and mentored by my colleagues, and obtained my PIN in November 2018.

Following my successful enrolment with the NMC, I quickly worked my way up to becoming a Clinical Deputy Manager at a Care Home in London.


In 2022, I was chosen to be a Digital Champion for NCL. This role has allowed me to become involved in all the digital aspects of ASC and allowed me to share knowledge within our settings and obtain funding for the home to move from paper-based documents to digital technology.


On my days off, I love spending time with my children and grandchildren, reading a good book or just taking walks.


I am very committed to ensuring that our residents are at the centre of all that we do and are treated with care, dignity, and respect. I am always willing to listen to their concerns or just have a friendly chat.


I joined Cliveden Manor in March 2024 as a Clinical Deputy Manager. I completed my Level 5 Leadership and Management Programme in early 2025, and I was promoted from Clinical Deputy Manager to Clinical Home Manager in September 2025.

I have been in sales for most of my career.


I worked with those who were requiring support in the property market and wishing to downsize which comes with personal involvement.


Having had to research a care home for my mother-in-law, I realised that the role of Customer Liaison Manager was one that I wished to pursue.

Job Title: Dementia Care Manager Joined: 2023

I joined Cliveden Manor as a Dementia Care Manager in September 2023.


I previously worked as the Registered Manager at a Residential Home in Oxfordshire.


I worked there for 10 years, working my way up from care assistant through various roles and I was in the role of manager for over 4 years.


I have worked in the elderly care sector since 2011 and I knew straight away that it was a career that I wanted to follow.


I particularly have a passion for working with those living with dementia and doing all I can to enrich their lives.
My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009 and sadly passed away 6 years later. Helping to care for her made me realise that it was something that I wanted to do.


Cliveden Manor is a lovely home with a great reputation and I enjoy supporting my residents, family members and team members.

Job Title: Residential Care Manager Joined: 2017

I joined Cliveden Manor in August 2017.


I started as a care supervisor and I worked my way up to Residential Care Manager in August 2023. I manage the Assisted Living Department at Cliveden Manor, and I support our General Manager and Deputy Manager with the management of the home.


I am driven by ensuring all our residents receive exceptional person-centred care, as the residents are my priority. As the Residential Care Manager, I work alongside a fantastic and committed team of carers who are equally passionate about the care we provide.

Job Title: Hospitality Manager

I have worked in the Hospitality Industry since 1979 within many different restaurant environments, delivering high standards of service. Cliveden Manor was my first experience in the care industry, I started here in 2018 and I haven’t looked back since! I find my role very enjoyable and rewarding. I like to meet different residents and listen to their comments and I endeavour to make sure myself and the team live up to their high expectations.

Job Title: Activities Manager

Having previously been accustomed to roles in the customer service and retail industry I joined the Signature family in Sept 2019. My knowledge and experience of community, charity and social events have been paramount to my objectives and ideas for our residents. I began my signature career as an Activities Assistant, achieving a Level 2 qualification in the principles of dementia care. I have now taken the role of Activities Supervisor supporting the activities team and working hard to introduce a wide range of fun activities and events to enhance the mental and physical well-being of the residents of Cliveden Manor. I am privileged to be part of an amazing team and to be able to work together to cultivate a stimulating and varied lifestyle for our residents.

I have been working as a Head Housekeeper since 2013, I previously worked for a privately owned conference centre and a 72-bedroom care home.


I joined Signature because it has a reputation for excellence, and I want to ensure Cliveden Manor lives up to this.

Job Title: Restaurant Supervisor

I started as a Food & Beverage Assistant in 2015 and worked my way up to Restaurant Supervisor. Since then, I have been able to work with some amazing people, I’ve learnt so many new things and have created a lot of wonderful memories! My passion is ensuring the resident's needs are catered to and that they have a wonderful dining experience.


I see Cliveden Manor as a second home and feel very lucky to be amongst such a wonderful team.
