My mother has been a resident at Cliveden Manor for nearly five years. It was not an easy decision for her to move to a care home but both she and I are very glad that she chose Cliveden Manor. The care staff are unfailingly professional, friendly, and genuinely caring in all that they do. This has never been more important than during the pandemic. When no family could visit, and lockdown restrictions meant residents were confined to their rooms, the staff ensured that they were not isolated and made every effort to keep up morale and well-being with creative ways for communication and contact. I have high praise for the carers, the activities team, the reception team, the housekeeping staff, and the amazing restaurant manager and his team. Cliveden Manor has had rigorous measures in place to protect residents throughout the pandemic and I have been very reassured that my mother has been in such a safe and caring environment. As a family member, I feel supported too.

What an amazing place!
My father has been a resident at Cliveden since October 20, and it was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make to move him from his home to care. This decision was made easier by the welcoming, helpful, and most of all, compassionate staff that supported me.
He moved to The Willows (the dementia suite) earlier this year after a short time in assisted living and is happy, settled and amazingly cared for.
I cannot thank the staff that are involved in his care enough as they all work so hard to make him comfortable. They view him as family and spend time engaging with him, and knowing this is happening during such a hard time with Covid is reassuring.
I am kept up to date with how he is, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

If you are reading this and searching for a home for a loved one, please do visit and see what a wonderful place it is.

I came here for respite care - to bridge the gap between the hospital, where I was treated for a broken hip and home. It was a very wise move, and I was extremely well cared for by wonderful people, given every facility to aid my recovery and treated with care and consideration. Altogether, a very good experience all round.

My Mother has been at Cliveden Manor for 5 years. I get emotional when asked about the care that Mum receives as for the last 4 years she has been bedridden and palliative after being ill. The staff are so amazing not only to Mum but to the family as well. Inevitably there are times when having a relative in a nursing home is difficult, none more so than this year, however, I can only say that the team are always reassuring and ready to listen and do anything to help. During this most difficult time when we have been unable to visit, they have done everything they can to ease an awful time. Always with great care and never complaining. It has been a great comfort to our family. I can only thank them and it never feels enough.

I am writing this for anyone wondering about the care and safety of Cliveden Manor for their loved ones, should they be looking for a home.
My mother moved in nearly 2-years ago and is happy and settled. Throughout the covid pandemic, she has felt well cared for and safe.
The home has strict procedures and plenty of PPE. They even now have onsite testing for visitors and an outside heated seating area.
Visitors are strictly monitored and checked. Numbers are limited.
These are sad restrictions, but the home updates family regularly and justifies their rationale. Feedback is accepted and responded to promptly.
Activities are organised to keep residents entertained, and residents can move around more freely.
The activities team are happy to help residents with online communication; they print out photos and do their most to help residents keep in contact with their families.

Cliveden Manor has is a loyal tight-knit team, and I am very happy Mum is there.

My Mum is on a journey through Dementia, supported by my Dad in Assisted Living until recently when we began her transition into The Willows. The struggle of leaving a home for 'a home' is often mental. Residents are encouraged to make their space 'theirs'. A mini version of what they're used to and hence full of familiarity where their character is comfortable and not left behind as they maybe had feared. The layout of rooms and communal areas is better than many hotels I've stayed in. Always clean, neat and somehow still homely and welcoming. Staff are kind, patient, bubbly and encouraging. Covid measures are impeccable. Want to hear the horror stories? then watch the news. Want to hear the positive stories? then talk to this team. To family members juggling busy working lives with a need to look after elderly relatives, the Management and admin staff are a godsend. They're well informed and able to talk about individuals, not numbers, and, somewhat appropriately, they do CARE.

My aunt is very happy at Cliveden and proud to show her apartment and the Home's facilities to her guests. I visit her regularly, staying locally for 3-4 nights. On each occasion, I spend time with her at the home, taking my meals in the restaurant and joining in with activities such as the quiz and book/play reading. Staff are all welcoming and attentive, providing a high level of personalised care, very reassuring for relatives who live at a distance. Whilst the Covid crisis has been extremely tough on all concerned, the protocols implemented are reassuring and ensure a safe environment is maintained. I have been able to keep in touch with my aunt during this time through Facebook video calls arranged by the activities manager. We chat face to face and I see that my aunt looks healthy and well cared for. On her birthday, the staff thoughtfully saved her cards and presents to open during our video call. There was cake, candles, singing of Happy Birthday, all very jolly.

My mother has been at Signature's Cliveden Manor for several years now. She is safe and secure in all ways, an issue of real importance in these times of Covid. She enjoys having people around and although her memory is failing, her sense of security is strong, which comes from consistency in the care given by staff. She especially enjoys the activities as she is quite competitive and it's great to see her getting involved in scrabble and the crossword. She looks forward to the play reading every week and joins in with whichever part she is given. When I visit, I often hear her laughing before I see her.

My mother has been a resident at Cliveden for 8 months, the staff have been excellent with her. They have managed to be Covid free thankfully. Staff and residents are tested regularly throughout the day for the virus. They have tried their best to keep the residents entertained throughout lockdown, placing them in bubbles so that they can mix with other residents for activities. The rooms are clean and spacious. Food has been good and mum seems to be able to order what she wants if there isn’t something on the menu she fancies. All staff are very polite and courteous to the resident's family and treat residents with dignity. I would highly recommend Cliveden Manor.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Cliveden Manor for over 4-years, and I have been very pleased with the care that she has received there. All the staff treat her with such respect and friendliness and treat all our family members in the same way. It is a pleasure to visit her, and have a coffee in the cafe, or walk around the garden.

In recent months, of course, there have been necessary changes to deal with Covid, but I feel that these have been handled with a great deal of thought, with the welfare of the residents the most important consideration. The family have always been consulted about the changes, and given regular updates about the current situation, and we feel so grateful that the residents are being so well protected.

My mother has lived at Clivedon Manor since August 2018. Clivedon Manor is exceptional in that the staff are all very considerate, caring and friendly and go out of their way to see that my mother is happy and well looked after. Her suite of rooms is very pleasant and always clean. She has made friends and enjoys all the activities that the team put on for their residents. It is of great comfort to us as a family to know that my mother could not be in better hands. Thank you.

I believe Cliveden Manor has so far had no confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Managers have worked hard to implement an effective policy to protect residents [and themselves] from COVID-19. Managers have carefully informed me of what they are doing, and why.

My mother lives in what I call 'The Willows Community', which cares for their most vulnerable and dependent people. Essential day-to-day social distancing was certain to affect her more than people in other parts of Cliveden Manor. But since limited and carefully enforced visiting has been possible I see the evidence that her carers have succeeded in preventing any dramatic deterioration in my mother's confusion. Thank you!

I was only in Cliveden Manor for 2 weeks respite care following emergency surgery. I chose it as they had very strict covid testing in place for both residents and staff. I was very impressed with how they coped with all the necessary restrictions. Excellent care staff and good food - as well as a pleasant environment.

I am full of praise for Signature Cliveden Manor for when I was there for a month of respite care. From the moment of entering, every member of staff knew my name and was smiling, kind and helpful. Friends and relatives were also made welcome. I felt very safe and catered for and was especially grateful for the night visits. All meals were delicious and the young waiting staff were kind and patient with all the elderly residents. All the activities were fun and well organised. I am recommending Cliveden to all my friends.

Karen HolmesJob Title:Clinical Home ManagerJoined: 2024

I was born in Sunderland; however, my family emigrated to South Africa when I was a child, but I never forgot my roots and always knew I would return one day. I just didn’t know it would take me so long.

I completed my schooling and I enrolled on nursing. I qualified as a general Nurse, working a lot in the elderly people’s wards. After a few years, I transferred to paediatrics and ultimately settled in the Critical care units.

In 1990, I continued my training by specialising in Medical and Surgical Critical care with a speciality in Cardio-thoracic nursing. During my nursing career, I worked my way up from a Staff Nurse to a Deputy Nursing Manager of a 240-bed private hospital.

I returned to England in August 2018 and obtained my NMC pin by starting as a pre-registered nurse, completing the required English test, Nursing test and OSCE. I was lucky to be working within the Adult Social Care environment and was supported and mentored by my colleagues, and obtained my PIN in November 2018.

Following my successful enrolment with the NMC, I quickly worked my way up to becoming a Clinical Deputy Manager at a Care Home in London.

In 2022, I was chosen to be a Digital Champion for NCL. This role has allowed me to become involved in all the digital aspects of ASC and allowed me to share knowledge within our settings and obtain funding for the home to move from paper-based documents to digital technology.

On my days off, I love spending time with my children and grandchildren, reading a good book or just taking walks.

I am very committed to ensuring that our residents are at the centre of all that we do and are treated with care, dignity, and respect. I am always willing to listen to their concerns or just have a friendly chat.

I joined Cliveden Manor in March 2024 as a Clinical Deputy Manager. I completed my Level 5 Leadership and Management Programme in early 2025, and I was promoted from Clinical Deputy Manager to Clinical Home Manager in September 2025.

Louise PalmerJob Title:Client Liaison ManagerJoined: 2020

I joined Avery Health Care in 2020. Initially, I worked in Ascot Grange Home and I transferred to Cliveden Manor in August 2023.

I have been in sales for most of my career.

I worked with those who were requiring support in the property market and wishing to downsize which comes with personal involvement.

Having had to research a care home for my mother-in-law, I realised that the role of Customer Liaison Manager was one that I wished to pursue.

I thoroughly enjoy working in this environment, helping to support those looking for care or a lifestyle change for their family, it is rewarding to get to know the residents in such lovely surroundings and with the dedicated staff.

Sam Monk
Sam MonkJob Title:Business Administrator

I started my career as an administrator in a primary school in 2013, I moved to the care industry in 2018 and haven’t looked back since. Every day is different and I love the challenge it brings! Avery is a wonderful company to work for and I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to grow. Our values and ethos make the workplace a happy and thriving environment, which is something I hope to contribute to when recruiting for the home. In my role, I support Cliveden with finding the best team and making sure all our staff are happy and feel valued no matter what job they do. I hope the team feel they can approach me for anything, and my door is always open, even if I don’t know the answer to the question – I’ll always give it a go!

I joined Cliveden Manor as a Dementia Care Manager in September 2023.

I previously worked as the Registered Manager at a Residential Home in Oxfordshire.

I worked there for 10 years, working my way up from care assistant through various roles and I was in the role of manager for over 4 years.

I have worked in the elderly care sector since 2011 and I knew straight away that it was a career that I wanted to follow.

I particularly have a passion for working with those living with dementia and doing all I can to enrich their lives.

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009 and sadly passed away 6 years later. Helping to care for her made me realise that it was something that I wanted to do.

Cliveden Manor is a lovely home with a great reputation and I enjoy supporting my residents, family members and team members.
