Puddingstone Grange care home is registered to offer residential care for male and female service users, who are elderly and frail, have a dementia related condition and nursing care needs.

A mental health unit was been opened within the home in August 2015 to provide care and support for those living with mental health conditions.

A community district nurse service is available for the residential units.

Community psychiatric support is provided when necessary, through a resident's general practitioner services.

The mental health unit receives support from Oxleas Health Service, 24 hours a day in addition to regular reviews of those residents from the community psychiatric team.

At the heart of Avante Care and Support's work is a philosophy of care where staff encourage social interaction, engagement and the eradication of loneliness and boredom.

Puddingstone Grange ensures its care and support helps to develop interests and hobbies within the care home and provide many opportunities to meet and make new friends.

The design promotes the use of the external space and this will be achieved by having safe, level access to the garden area at the rear, which has a meandering pathway, raised planters, seating areas and water feature.

Due to the closure of mum's previous home she transferred to here. At all times Avante were professional and caring in the process. For both mum and us they made the transition easy in every way no doubt a lot of work on their part. They made sure that some of the staff form the previous home transferred
along with the small group of residents. Therefore they are very well aware of each of the groups needs. In mum's case she can be afraid, they are very understanding and cope with her extremely well on her off days. The home is very spacious, clean and the bedroom contains a wet room excellent!. The staff interacted with all the residents. Have just experienced mothers day and afternoon tea events.

Don't know what you pay your staff but it's not enough!
Having mum in care is disheartening and worrisome. The team ALWAYS know how mum's going, what has been happening for her.
I live about as far away as possible and only come to the UK once or twice a year.
It's very reassuring to know mum is
in such good hands.

I am very pleased with the care and attention that is given to our uncle in all respects. The home is always warm, friendly and clean. The residents are well looked after, we leave the care home knowing that all is well concerning my uncle.

In my opinion, the staff at Puddingstone Grange are what makes this care home feel like a blessing.
Having had disheartening experiences of several different care homes previously over the last 6 years, (due to my elderly grandparents.).
I can honestly say, Puddingstone Grange is a league above the
rest ... When visiting my grandad at Puddingstone, the home is always clean. The residents themselves always look clean and cared for. I love the fact that the staff seem to have an individual understanding of each residents personality, they don't just know their names, they know who the residents once were, and cater to their individual needs.
Sadly (or not) my grandad still believes his wife (soul mate) is still alive. And on occasions he will get very agitated because he can't find her, the staff - rather than trying to explain she's no longer here, they sit him next to a female resident who he then believes is his wife. My grandad then finds peace. ?? I love this.
My dad and I always feel welcomed by all staff. Through them we too are learning and getting to know the other residents to whom my grandad now resides with. I truly believe the staff especially in my grandads section are what gives it a family feel, and most importantly for us we always have peace of mind when leaving :)

I am delighted to give my thorough recommendation to the staff of Puddingstone Grange. I have been arranging a funeral of one of the residents and a remembrance service for a member of staff who died recently. The manager has been absolutely brilliant, giving me a wonderful warm welcome with kind hospitality.
The home radiates human love and care, I really do feel that everyone matters and are considered with individual concerns and care. This care home has more of a feel of a home than an institution. I'm looking forward to monthly visits to the home for residents and staff. Thoroughly recommend with festive gratitude.

Moji has over 20 years experience working in care, she joined Avante as a Registered Home Manager in September 2020, having previously held roles as an Area Co-ordinator and Regional Support Manager. Moji has a BSc in Sociology and MSc in Criminology and Criminal Psychology


Moji's proudest achievement since joining Avante has been supporting residents, their family members and staff through the recent pandemic and the associated challenges, keeping the home safe and maintaining staffing levels. Moji feels it is particularly important to support the relatives and friends of residents in order to enhance the wellbeing of all parties.
