Puddingstone Grange care home is registered to offer residential care for male and female service users, who are elderly and frail, have a dementia related condition and nursing care needs.

A mental health unit was been opened within the home in August 2015 to provide care and support for those living with mental health conditions.

A community district nurse service is available for the residential units.

Community psychiatric support is provided when necessary, through a resident's general practitioner services.

The mental health unit receives support from Oxleas Health Service, 24 hours a day in addition to regular reviews of those residents from the community psychiatric team.

At the heart of Avante Care and Support's work is a philosophy of care where staff encourage social interaction, engagement and the eradication of loneliness and boredom.

Puddingstone Grange ensures its care and support helps to develop interests and hobbies within the care home and provide many opportunities to meet and make new friends.

The design promotes the use of the external space and this will be achieved by having safe, level access to the garden area at the rear, which has a meandering pathway, raised planters, seating areas and water feature.

The staff work so hard and are very kind and attentive. It is always very clean. The activities lady has grown plants and encourages the residents out of their own world using music, she knows mum's favourite music is Elvis and The Beatles. Mum is very contented here. Thank you!

What a wonderful place. The support and care here are second to none. My dad is so happy and that is a comfort to all of us. We are able to visit at any time and are made to feel very welcome. I cannot recommend Puddingstone Grange highly enough.

The home is clean, you never see any resident dirty or distressed and the food is very good. The rooms are kept clean and tidy and linen is changed daily. The resident's beds are comfortable and adjustable. Side lamps are touch control. All rooms have ensuite which are kept clean. There are numerous
events for residents throughout the year. My mother often had food prepared which she requested. The staff were all engaging. She enjoyed the massage sessions she had. There is a hairdresser but mum never wanted her haircut. The home does well with the residents it has.

My mum has vascular dementia and has been at Puddingstone Grange for 4 years.
She is always very well looked after and content.
There was an issue at the home that the council was unable to sort out.
The care home, Puddingstone Grange, however, took it on itself to make sure that this was resolved.
The
manager bent over backwards to ensure that the matter was quickly resolved and I can't thank her enough.

My mother has been a resident of Puddingstone Grange for one year. I cannot recommend the care and facility highly enough. The atmosphere when I visit (which is often) is always one of peaceful happy security. All residents are invited to take part in the many activities. The barbecue held in the garden
was a great success, the fact that all residents have their birthdays celebrated individually enhances personal identity.

Mum was transferred here from another Avante home that closed. The main living space upstairs is bright, airy and spacious and has a good size balcony area.

Brilliant staff. Mum is extremely well cared for, she has mental issues and the staff cope with her admirably. She is certainly a challenge but they know her well and she is well liked by the staff. My mother has been resident at Puddingstone Grange for over 3 months and has settled in very well. She is happy in her new environment. This is due to the excellent care and attention given by the dedicated staff. It is truly wonderful to see how the staff at all levels have developed a relationship
with mother. She trusts them and is relaxed. This care home is organised with attention to detail. All the staff seem to work as a team with everybody creating a warm and homely atmosphere. I have seen several incidents where residents have had physical difficulties and the carers have dealt with these situations gently and compassionately.

I found the home to be very clean and tidy. On arrival, I received a warm greeting at reception. The lounge and eating areas were clean and tidy and plenty of staff were available for residents needs. The staff were helpful and very pleasant. Tea and coffee was offered as required.

Puddingstone Grange is a well run and well-managed facility catering for the elderly and infirm as well as those with dementia. The Manager and staff are wonderful and very caring and considerate to the residents. My one concern is that my sister pays the full fees, as she is self-funding, whereas
residents funded by Social Services pay a fraction of the fees.

I was so pleased and happy to see how well my mum was in her new home and surroundings. In particular how kind and caring the staff were with how they were making my mum feel relaxed and comfortable. I would really like to say that I could not wish my mum to be in another place other than Puddingstone

Accommodation is first class. I have only met a few of the staff on my visits so far, and they have all been most understanding and helpful.

Moji has over 20 years experience working in care, she joined Avante as a Registered Home Manager in September 2020, having previously held roles as an Area Co-ordinator and Regional Support Manager. Moji has a BSc in Sociology and MSc in Criminology and Criminal Psychology


Moji's proudest achievement since joining Avante has been supporting residents, their family members and staff through the recent pandemic and the associated challenges, keeping the home safe and maintaining staffing levels. Moji feels it is particularly important to support the relatives and friends of residents in order to enhance the wellbeing of all parties.
