The Review Score of 9.2 (maximum of 10) for Osborne House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Osborne House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.403 for Osborne House is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (55 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 149 Ratings = 4.403

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.811 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Osborne House is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 14.8 positive Reviews (74 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 12 Reviews ÷ 14.8 Target = 0.811

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I have visited Osbourne House on more than one occasion. A neighbour of mine was in there for respite. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble, my neighbour speaks very highly of the care home which was a comfort to see as it was an initial worry when we heard she was going to go in for a short time. She is now home and still misses Osbourne House. The home is neat and tidy and the decoration is very tasteful.

Mum and dad have been at Osborne House for 15 months. Mum is 94 and suffering with dementia, she is looked after on the top floor where the staff understand her needs and she is happy. Mum has gone through a few health problems which have been managed in a very professional way.

Dad is 98 and resides on the ground floor. His mobility is poor but is looked after by the staff in a caring way. He likes the food and his room looks onto the gardens. At the beginning of their stay there seemed to be poor staffing levels and atmosphere. A new manager started and turned things around.

Having made the difficult decision earlier in 2017 that Mum could no longer cope on her own and needed full-time care, we are, as a family, delighted that we chose Osborne House.

The staff have, with their empathy, care, respect, compassion and humour, overcome Mum's initial reservations, so much so she is now happy to call Osborne House home.

The advice and support we have received as a family from all the staff has been invaluable and we take comfort in the knowledge that Mum is safe, happy and so well cared for.

My mother had respite care in Osborne House for two weeks and was treated with care and respect by all staff. They were friendly and supportive and she enjoyed being there. She was initially opposed to entering any care home, but her views have changed and she said that she would return there again. We are very grateful to all the staff who contributed and made her feel welcome.

My mother has been a resident in Osborne house for two and a half years, during this time there have been several changes. The staff are very supportive of residents and their families and provide on the whole a caring, safe environment and endeavour to make the residents stay as good as they can.

Dad has been in Osborne House for over 2 years and in that time we have seen several changes but the overall experience has been consistently positive. The important factor for us is that Dad believes the care and attention he receives is excellent. The family takes comfort from this knowing that when we leave he will be happy and content.

My mum is so lucky to be in a nursing/care home that she feels valued and cared for and most importantly, loved. As a family, we can be happy in the knowledge that she is safe. Thank you, Osborne House.

Mum had previous experience of Osborne House as she had respite a few months ago.
So when the needs arose, we knew it would be our first choice for permanent care.
