My Grandma is a resident at Osborne House. I cannot praise the team that look after my grandma enough. They individually go above and beyond to ensure she is cared for and supported. The home recently organised a celebration for her 100th birthday. The decorations were amazing and it had such a personal
touch. So much effort went into making sure her day was special; from a party, promotion of cards and international family zoom call. They made sure her milestone birthday would be one to remember! It certainly will be. They have continued to keep residents safe throughout the pandemic and have tirelessly kept the residents' wellbeing at the forefront of everything. I would like to especially mention one staff member whose commitment and motivation to her job is amazing. Nothing is ever too much for her and she gives her all to ensuring the home is promoted positively and she keeps the residents engaged. She is a trooper and such an asset to Crown Care. Thank you for all you do for my Grandma.
Reply from Shiva Sheikholeslami, Manager at Osborne HouseThank you so much for your kind words Jacqui. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us.
Kind regards
Shiva

My grandmother recently turned 100. A significant milestone that we were all looking forward to celebrating with her. However given the current Covid restrictions, we were unable to all be together, but the staff at Osborne House went above and beyond to ensure she had an extra special day. The effort
and care from the staff were remarkable and really touching. It is clear that my grandmother is not only well cared for at Osborne House, but genuinely loved by the staff and this makes all the difference. She had a great day and the family not only got to be a part of the celebration via a zoom call organised by the staff but also received photos and videos of the day and felt like we were part of the day even though we couldn’t all be there in person. I am very grateful to Osborne House and the level of care and attention provided by the staff.
Reply from Shiva Sheikholeslami, Manager at Osborne HouseDear Lindsay, we were blown away by your kind words and we really appreciate the time you took to write such a detailed positive review!

Osborne House provided outstanding care for my mum. The whole building is kept spotless and the meals provided were delicious and nutritious. The staff were always kind, compassionate and extremely caring. They were always positive and good-humoured. As a family we were very grateful and that we were
allowed to visit mum when she was receiving end of life care. It was most comforting for us that we were able to be with mum in her final hours.

I have volunteered here for a while now and help with events that have been on, since the pandemic I haven't been able to visit but have kept in touch with staff and residents, the home is a lovely place to be and I'm sure they are making the lockdown the best they can, keeping everyone safe. I look
forward to the day I can go back into Osborne House and see everyone again.

We are so thankful for the care our gran receives living at Osborne House. With all the restrictions that have come with COVID, gran has really missed her weekly visits with friends and family. But the staff at Osborne House have gone above and beyond to offer gran and other residents special theme
days and have made holidays like Christmas a really special one. During COVID, we have had an opportunity to video call with gran every Friday. We are so thankful for this! Seeing her connect, laugh and be silly with two of her great-grandchildren every Friday means so much. We live in Canada, and having the ability to see her weekly on a video call makes the world seem a little smaller, and we are so thankful that our gran and great-grandma can have a visit with us each week. Thank you Osborne House for all you do each and every day!

The staff at Osborne House are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. My Mum is looked after so well and it is a testament to the staff that they have managed to keep the Home Covid free during the pandemic. Knowing that my Mum is safe and cared for is most important and it is reassuring when circumstances
have meant that visits have not been permitted.

I have been a regular visitor at Osborne House for over 2 years and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The home setting is very inviting, the staff are caring, considerate and very compassionate, they treat all the residents with patience and dignity; nothing is too much trouble. Everyone is approachable.
The rooms are exceptionally clean, large and spacious. The manager is warm, friendly, helpful and very involved, you always see her around the home and all the residents know her. She leads her team exceptionally well and this is reflected by the staff and the care given to residents. This last year I have been unable to visit due to covid, but have followed Osborne House on social media, they have, in my opinion, been amazing at keeping the residents happy with the activities and you can see everyone having fun and enjoying themselves. In my opinion, with the challenges the manager and staff have faced this last year due to Covid19 they have excelled above and beyond.

Having a friend in Osborne House and not being allowed in, I've followed the social media and seen all the positivity Osborne House has been sharing. I believe they have been covid free which is great, it makes me so happy knowing my childhood friend is still being well looked after during these challenging
times. Well done to everyone.

Mum went into Osborne House at the end of June 2020 from York A&E. Mum has Vascular Dementia and had home carers and myself as her main carer. Since Mum has been at Osborne House we are so pleased and happy to see the change in her. From being very confused, upset and anxious with poor mobility, she
is now very happy, eating well and mobile. We knew nothing about Osborne House and cannot believe how lucky we are Mum was sent here. All the staff are brilliant, they care for Mum and indirectly us as well. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they go above and beyond in what they do. There are always activities going on like drawing, baking. We have mainly known the home through window or garden visits due to lockdowns and we look forward to being able to go in and have a cuppa and a big hug with Mum. We cannot thank the manager and all the staff enough for looking after our Mum so well.

Mum has been in Osborne House since January 2015. She has been very well taken care of, the staff are helpful and always very friendly, they go above and beyond what I would think is the norm. For example, Mum had a big Birthday last year and her family were included in the celebrations from all over
the world via Zoom. A huge thank you goes out to the staff for making this happen. During Covid times we have been able to Facetime with mum with the help of a staff member, usually when her shift has finished. Osborne House have done an amazing job of keeping the virus out of the Home. Thank you for all you are doing in these troubling times to keep the Residents safe. The activities that are offered are varied and interesting; they certainly made Christmas a happy and creative event, as they do with all major celebrations, community or personal.

My mum first used Osborne House for respite, back in July 2019, then moved in full time in September the same year. The care she has been given is excellent. Lovely clean rooms, the staff are so friendly and caring, always smiling and chatting, great food menu, great activities for all the residents
to join in with and a lovely garden. My mum is so happy there, she’s made some good friends.

My mum has been a resident for just over a year. The room she is in is big, clean and nicely decorated. The staff are really caring and look after my mum well. She can be stubborn at times if she doesn’t want to do something but the staff know her well and know how to deal with her. She is in her bed
most of the time but they do try and persuade her to get out and sometimes succeed. The home has the same challenges as they all do but overall the family have been very happy. The chance to video call my mum in these difficult times is great and I know she enjoys them.

My Mum had been a resident at Osborne House for over two years until she passed away at the weekend. I can't fault the care she has received during that time. The staff have been both professional and caring, creating a friendly relaxed atmosphere for the residents.
Mum celebrated her 100th birthday
in November, a tribute to how well she was being looked after. I can't thank them enough.

My auntie loves the home and can not speak higher of the staff, nothing is too much trouble.
Every time I visit, the staff offer drinks and ask me if I want to stay for something to eat. All departments of staff work as one team. My auntie loves the food and enjoys the friendships she has made in Osborne
House. She is very happy here. Well done to everyone for the great job you do.

My father-in-law only stayed for respite and unfortunately died during that time. But nothing was too much. The staff were lovely and supportive during a sad time for us. I would thoroughly recommend Osborne House. It's spotless and doesn't have that old people's home smell you normally get. The food
is cooked on the premises every day to a high quality. Thank you for also taking care of my mother-in-law whilst she spent several hours there every day. They fed her and offered her a room when we needed to stay 24/7 at the end. We were allowed to make ourselves hot drinks, which really helped when you're there a long time.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.878)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.878) out of 10 for Osborne House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Osborne House is calculated as follows: ( (263 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 295 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Osborne House is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 registered maximum number of service users is 14.8, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Housekeeper Joined: 2013

I joined Osborne House in 2013 when the care home was about to open.

I had previously worked in another care setting as a housekeeper for 4 years before this.

I am welcoming, bubbly, and enthusiastic about my role and Osborne House.

From day one of working at Osborne House, I have loved and still love my job, it is very rewarding.

Interacting with staff, residents and visitors on a daily basis is something I love! Each day is different.

I enjoy helping in other aspects of the home as well as Housekeeping. I am proud to run an excellent team, and be part of an excellent team at Osborne House.
