Osborne House is a luxurious facility built with due care and attention to provide care for older people and to meet the expectations of the citizens of Selby and surrounding areas of North Yorkshire.

The home has 74 well-appointed bedrooms over three floors, all with en suite toilet and showers. There are secluded gardens and some bedrooms and the lounged have patio access. Osborne House is very well equipped to encourage and maintain dignity, privacy and independence. A full activity programme is in place to encourage residents to pursue hobbies or even discover new ones.

The home's Butterfly Wing is a 14 bed dementia residential unit caring and supporting those with dementia to live as full and independent life as possible. Incorporating person-centred care with appropriate health and safety requirements to ensure the best quality of life for all residents in a safe and comfortable environment.

The Nightingale Floor is an 18 bed general nursing unit delivering nursing care in a warm and welcoming environment to promote health and wellbeing. The Nightingale floor is both able to provide clinical support and a friendly atmosphere to residents and families alike.

Ladybird is a 27 bed general residential unit providing support for those who need just a little help in their day to day lives, ensuring those who can still maintain their independence and individuality do so to the best of their ability. The various sitting rooms provide ample space for socialising or entertaining family and friends and there are also quiet lounges where the beautiful surroundings can just be enjoyed.

The Lavender Wing is a 15 bed dementia residential unit caring and supporting those with dementia to live as full and independent life as possible. Incorporating person-centred care with appropriate health and safety requirements to ensure the best quality of life for all residents in a safe and comfortable environment.

Mum has been a resident of Osborne House since January 2023.
During that time the care team and Selby CHADS have monitored her health and well-being on a daily business.
She now has a mixed dementia diagnosis and is receiving medication to help her condition.
Throughout the last 12 months, the Care
Manager, Ground Floor and 2nd Floor managers together with their support teams have all cared for Mum.
She has settled in well and enjoys the daily activities. The Osborne team have been very helpful in helping the family to come to terms with Mum's condition and have given us all confidence that she is receiving the best care and attention she deserves.

My father moved to Osborne House earlier this year following a period of severe illness. He was reluctant to leave his home but this was happily short-lived. The surroundings, staff and atmosphere here are lovely and Dad recuperated very well. My dad settled in with the help of all the staff and very
quickly came to really feel that this was his home especially as we were able to personalise his room. We were happy to leave Dad in the care of Osborne House and he made some really good friends there. The programme of activities is fantastic with something for everyone - Dad loved carpet bowls and the Monday exercises. Dad passed away at the end of August and we were wonderfully supported by the staff and the send-off they gave him was incredibly emotional. I would thoroughly recommend anyone looking for care to have a look at Osborne House.

My cousin has been a resident here for a few months. Besides the fact that he wanted to go back to his home initially, he has been cared for very well here. His needs are being met and medically he has improved. He has seemed happy and if we have asked the house for anything, like his nails being cut,
then this has been done as soon as possible.
At the moment he has been admitted to hospital due to an infection and one of the staff has shown an interest in his well being, contacting the hospital and then me to keep me and the house updated as to his progress. Hopefully my cousin will be able to go back to Osborne House as soon as possible.

Very pleased that Mum has moved to this home as she has settled in well. Staff are very friendly and caring.
My mum quite likes the food which is a minor miracle in itself.
The home is clean and the staff appear to be very good at caring for patients individual needs.

Osborne House Care Home is a beautiful care home and is very clean and does not smell. You are always met with a warm welcome. The staff on the unit where my relative resides are very professional and treat everyone as individuals and are very respectful. I feel my relative is very well cared for and
is treated with dignity. I feel very happy that my relative is safe and any issues are dealt with as they occur and incidents quashed almost before they have had a chance to erupt.
The only problem is when they have to cover the usual lovely carers with agency workers. Some agency workers are ok but there are others who are lazy, spend most of their time on their mobile phones, have to be told what to do when the need for them to do something is very obvious. They have no initiative. That is when I feel the care could break down.

Overall I believe the service to be very good. However, the food sadly is not to the standard I would expect. However, the staff 9 times out of 10 are wonderful and caring. The lack of staff often affects Mum's ability to be able to sit out and the bathroom seems not suitable for wheelchair use. Also,

My mother was discharged from hospital to Osborne House with significant nursing and care needs. At every stage of the following 8 months, she was treated with dignity and personalised care that was of the highest calibre. Led by an exceptional care home manager, all the staff made every effort to provide
positive encouragement, kindness and consideration - as well as meeting the exacting standards of care that were needed every day. We could not have asked for better.

I find the young lady who does the photographs and the hairdresser extremely helpful. The carers are very helpful and compassionate. Very happy that visiting arrangements were made for me so I could see my relatives during COVID.

My mum has been a resident since July 2014; she absolutely loves the staff and thinks of them as part of her family. The fact that activities are ongoing if residents want to participate, or they can choose to do their own thing, they have the choice. The rooms are really nicely decorated, and residents
can have their own personal furniture, etc if they want. The staff evidently care for the residents and think of them as their own, going over and above, especially during the difficult times of the pandemic. 10/10 from me.

My mum moved to Osborne House as her care needs meant that she could no longer be looked after in her own home. She had both vascular dementia and a lack of mobility due to a nasty fall. From day one, she received kind and thoughtful care delivered by a team who looked after her with attention to detail
and good humour. I was kept fully informed of any changes in her medical condition by excellent nursing staff. In her last days, we were both treated with great kindness and concern, and I am relieved that her last moments were with people who had been able to get to know her and were constant employees as opposed to agency staff.

My mother had her 100th birthday on Saturday 24th April 2021. I would like to commend the staff, they gave her a wonderful birthday and considering the restrictions in place could not have been better for her. She had a wonderful day, the staff went above and beyond their remit, coming in on days off,
decorating the lounge and garden beautifully. Zoom meetings were arranged for relatives in Canada, America and London, a delightful afternoon tea was given with the other residents,
table decorations, flags with mum's face and age on and numerous thoughtful touches. The staff made what might have been a disappointing day because of covid restrictions into a memorable, joyous and wondeful experience for my mother. I can't thank them enough.

My Grandma is a resident at Osborne House. I cannot praise the team that look after my grandma enough. They individually go above and beyond to ensure she is cared for and supported. The home recently organised a celebration for her 100th birthday. The decorations were amazing and it had such a personal
touch. So much effort went into making sure her day was special; from a party, promotion of cards and international family zoom call. They made sure her milestone birthday would be one to remember! It certainly will be. They have continued to keep residents safe throughout the pandemic and have tirelessly kept the residents' wellbeing at the forefront of everything. I would like to especially mention one staff member whose commitment and motivation to her job is amazing. Nothing is ever too much for her and she gives her all to ensuring the home is promoted positively and she keeps the residents engaged. She is a trooper and such an asset to Crown Care. My grandmother recently turned 100. A significant milestone that we were all looking forward to celebrating with her. However given the current Covid restrictions, we were unable to all be together, but the staff at Osborne House went above and beyond to ensure she had an extra special day. The effort
and care from the staff were remarkable and really touching. It is clear that my grandmother is not only well cared for at Osborne House, but genuinely loved by the staff and this makes all the difference. She had a great day and the family not only got to be a part of the celebration via a zoom call organised by the staff but also received photos and videos of the day and felt like we were part of the day even though we couldn’t all be there in person. I am very grateful to Osborne House and the level of care and attention provided by the staff.

Osborne House provided outstanding care for my mum. The whole building is kept spotless and the meals provided were delicious and nutritious. The staff were always kind, compassionate and extremely caring. They were always positive and good-humoured. As a family we were very grateful and that we were
allowed to visit mum when she was receiving end of life care. It was most comforting for us that we were able to be with mum in her final hours.

I joined Osborne House in 2013 when the care home was about to open.


I had previously worked in another care setting as a housekeeper for 4 years before this.


I am welcoming, bubbly, and enthusiastic about my role and Osborne House.


From day one of working at Osborne House, I have loved and still love my job, it is very rewarding.


Interacting with staff, residents and visitors on a daily basis is something I love! Each day is different.


I enjoy helping in other aspects of the home as well as Housekeeping. I am proud to run an excellent team, and be part of an excellent team at Osborne House.
