My Mum has been in Victoria Care Centre in the dementia care unit for nearly two months now. My family and I are extremely happy that she is in such a happy and friendly environment. We have all found the place very welcoming, so much so, that we enjoy and look forward to coming to visit. The staff
are always so hardworking and busy, but always stop to interact with Mum and us. She is lovely and clean, well looked after and though she is hard to please with food, food is great overall. The service is exemplary.

My experience at Victoria Care Centre has been very good. The carers are outstanding and the service is excellent. The management is observant and the nurses are often quite busy attending to the patient seeing that they get good care. For example, when my finger got badly injured and I was in a lot
of pain. Two nurses, in particular, were very attentive to my finger and treated it well until the finger was healed.

Mother was admitted following several falls at home. She was unsettled for about 2 weeks but has settled down well and is appreciative of the helpful staff. Amazingly my mother now attends all the well organised activities during the week and has benefited from it.

I would like to extend my appreciation to all the staff on the second floor. They have been so great and diligent in the care of my husband. I would very much recommend their care as during my husband's stay there, they have been so caring, kind and done their utmost in their job. Thank you so much
and Merry Christmas in advance to all members of staff.

My cousin needs constant care and the staff here certainly provide this in a friendly courteous way with a very pleasant manner towards the residents, visitors and to each other. This makes for a warm and caring environment. In addition, the staff also treat the residents with concern for their well-being
and with respect for their dignity. The home is modern and well managed and also extremely clean, with pleasant communal areas. An outstanding care home.

Due to building works that needed to be urgently undertaken in my home, it was necessary that for the first time ever, I have a short stay period of respite in a Care Home. Anxieties were high as I am fussy, as almost to the point of OCD into cleanliness. Various options were to be presented. The first
to contact me from this home was the lovely Deputy Manager who visited me to undertake needs assessments and answer any questions. Later a visit was arranged for me to view. My daughter and I attended one evening and immediately upon entry in the Reception were struck by the layout coloured furniture, how clean it was and the welcoming ambience you felt. My room led out to a patio garden. The Deputy came to see me briefly to ensure I was ok. The chef was excellent, kind, caring and became my personal chef meeting my specific cultural needs. Staff, services, activities, excellent Family, Friends described as a Hotel. There are a few small areas of improvement but I would return in a heartbeat.

My mum has passed away but I feel that none of care home met the people with advance dementia's needs, including my mum unless a family member was present with them all the time just to make sure that your loved one's care needs are met. That is my personal opinion because that is what I have been through
with mum. It's very sad and upsetting because social services and the loved one pay so much for their care.

My mother was in the Victoria Care Centre for three weeks respite from 13th May. My mother was well cared for and always clean and tidy. Meals are varied and nutritious.
The rooms are quite spacious and clean. My mother seemed quite happy when visited by family members and friends. This is the third
time I have placed my mother in this home for respite and would be happy to do so again.
I would be happy to recommend this home to anyone wishing to place a loved one in this care centre.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.754)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.754) out of 10 for Victoria Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 49 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.754 for Victoria Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (459 Excellents x 5) + (108 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 585 Ratings = 4.754
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victoria Care Centre is based on 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 115 registered maximum number of service users is 23, which has been reached with 48 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
