We trust Mum's wellbeing in Victoria Care Centre. The activities department always put on an excellent agenda, but Mum on the 3rd floor is not usually included, perhaps because she makes shouting noises. However two members of staff are extremely personal with Mum and treat her like their mum, they
lighten the atmosphere. Staff are overworked and carers are sometimes difficult to find for help. Victoria Care Centre's standards are high and it was so nice for Mum to go on an outing to the canals this summer.

I find the staff extremely helpful and the care my mum is receiving is excellent. The staff are all supportive to me and my mother. The standard of care is excellent and I am happy to leave my mum in your care.

Lovely building - built specifically for dementia care.
Light and airy and additional facilities. Cinema room/hairdressers/cafe.
Staffing: Great when fully trained but a London wide problem retaining staff especially when clients and families get used to a specific team of carers. Also explaining
special dietary needs to staff can be tiresome eg., gluten free etc.
Activities - great idea and works well with clients that can interact, but with those clients that need 1:1 activity coordinators - that's where the weakness is because social care will not pay for even 1 hour a day 1:1.

Social services found a place at this home for my father over 3 years ago. At first, I was furious because they did not consult me but I knew he was to be discharged from hospital and would need a place of safety, but I was on holiday at the time so Social Services did the best they thought. I arrived
home the next day and went to see my father. As soon as the door opened and I entered the building, I knew Social Services had sent my father to the best place possible. The atmosphere, ethos and the reality up to this day in the home, on the floor where my father lives, is that of calm, respect, loving care, dignified, attention to detail of the care plans, tailor-made activities, person-specific care and treatment and of the whole person not just their condition.

In April 2015, I found peace of mind as far as my father's care was concerned. He was safe and extremely well-cared for. As I write in September 2018 nothing has changed my mind, the wonderful care continues.

My godmother has been in the Victoria Care Centre for the last 6 weeks on "step down" after discharge from the hospital. The care she has received has been excellent. The care centre is well run, clean and caring. All the staff are friendly and courteous. The bedroom is good if a little impersonal but
this must be expected on a temporary stay. The lounge /day room is comfortable and always staffed.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.728)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.728) out of 10 for Victoria Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.728 for Victoria Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (372 Excellents x 5) + (101 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 489 Ratings = 4.728
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victoria Care Centre is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 115 registered maximum number of service users is 23, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
