Dad spent 3 1/2 months with Gwen Walford House recovering from some health issues whilst we sorted a more independent housing solution. The care and support he received was exemplary, both medically and personally. As a family we were supported by the management down, to facilitate appointments, visits/consultations by family and health/social professionals. Dad's recovery was greatly helped by them. Thank you.
I cannot fault anything about the service that my father received during his stay at Gwen Walford. All the staff have provided an extremely high standard of care to my father and also a huge support to our family. The home has always been spotlessly clean and particularly during these difficult times with Covid have provided a caring and safe environment for my father's stay.
Staff were very helpful and tried to help my illness.
Staff always happy and try to do their best at all times.
I feel completely marvellous.
I cannot speak too highly of all staff involved in the wellbeing and loving care of my husband. Their dedication and care are second to none. Nothing is ever too much trouble in making sure residents feel cared for, loved and comfortable. However busy they are, they still make time to chat and reassure my husband, and I have also witnessed the same treatment with other residents. When visiting the home, I am always made to feel part of the home. All levels of staff always make me feel very welcome and are very friendly. The management should be very proud to have such a dedicated workforce. Not forgetting the cleaners/laundry and catering staff who all bend over backwards to give excellent service.
Gwen Walford House is outstanding and their care of my very frail and elderly Mum is a joy and revelation. Mum is very restricted and needs help with every aspect of her life 24/7. The staff willingly meet every need and are continuously bringing comfort and happiness to her. All staff are very caring and several have quickly formed a remarkable bond, joking with or teasing her into taking her medication and food and drink when she is reluctant. There is such tremendous rapport. I have been overwhelmed by the feeling of love for the residents and this has been especially valued during the Covid pandemic, with family visits impossible. Due to her great age, Mum was never going to get better in any conventional sense, but instead of giving up they have worked so hard to improve her quality of life. This is evidenced by her improved mental health, appetite and ability to engage with everything. I commend their absolute professionalism, commitment and overwhelming care and affection for their residents.
My mother just had her 99th Birthday and has been a resident at Gwen Walford for the last four years and eight months. Her stay and care here have given her a new purpose and lease of life - her comment (many times repeated) "they spoil me here". In my opinion, the high level of care, attention to detail, professionalism and capability is beyond reproach, it is of the highest standard. I visit (outside of lockdown) very frequently and have seen high standards maintained at all times. My mother is extremely happy here, feel safe and well looked after both medically, physically, mentally and emotionally.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review the care at Gwen Walford House. I am so pleased that your mother is extremely happy at the home and I am glad the staff spoil her, it is only what she deserves.
I am now happy to call this my home.
Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely review. We are so glad that you are so happy in your home.
I can not recommend this place highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble for Mum. The staff were so so kind and caring. The views of the river always made us smile. The home always had a calm and loving feel. Thank you.
My mum has recently had a health crisis, and the staff have dealt with this with huge compassion and patience. I can't fault the care that mum has received, and she is settled and happy. She enjoys the activities (and so do I).
The nursing and care was excellent, facilities were good and clean.
Mum was in the home for about 2 years. Staff are very friendly and caring and building is lovely. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views on Gwen Walford. I am really pleased that you have had such a good experience.
My father loved his time at Gwen Walford even though his last few weeks there were obviously difficult for him, the nursing staff there were amazing. My brother and I were with my father for his last 10 days & they treated us extremely well too, with copious amounts of food and drink and were always very respectful and courteous to my father.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we are very pleased you were so pleased with the care received.
My mum received excellent care whilst she was in Gwen Walford House. Whenever I saw the staff there they were always friendly and knew my mum well. Accommodation and food standards were also excellent. I felt happy that Mum was safe and well there.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
On behalf of the family, I would like to say thank you for the care and compassion given to my mother and the family, during her time with you during May 2018. Once again many thanks you are an amazing team.
Thank you for your kind words.
My father has always enjoyed his time at Gwen Walford House and Hampton Grange. The staff are caring, the food is plentiful and of a high quality. There are daily activities. Excellent home.
On visiting my aunt at Gwen Walford House I have always found the staff very caring and kind. The food looks good and not a smell of cabbage in the air! The activities seem appropriate to the residents and overall I feel it is a safe careing environment for my Aunt. Visiting Gwen Walford House has dispelled my concerns about care for the elderley with everything you hear in the press.
I recently visited my aunt at Gwen Walford House and was delighted to see how happy and content she was. We chatted about the nursing standards, the level of care and attention and she was very impressed. As a visitor, I was equally impressed by what I witnessed.
There was a team of friendly and caring staff who were both keen to help both residents and their family and friends during their visit. My Aunt was very enthusiastic about the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food and from what I saw, I can understand why!
Gwen Walford is a wonderful residence that has put our family to ease when it comes to my grandfather. The staff are helpful, inclusive and professional - an attitude that seems almost to spread, as all the residents are kind and social with one another. It seems to be one big group of people that are encouraged to spend time together.
The rooms are always spotless when I visit, and from what I can see the food is carefully produced and tasty. I have nothing negative at all to say about Gwen Walford Home, nor it's management, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Since my grandmother moved in she seems to be a lot happier. She's making friends with other residents and getting involved with some of the activities. They put on a good range of activities. There always seems to be something going on. She enjoys the food, they give her a good choice and there is lots of it. The building and its surrounds are very impressive.
