Buckingham House is a purpose-built Care Home providing caregiving for nursing, residential and dementia residents by well-trained and well-led carers and nurses. The home facilitates 24-hour personalised care whilst supporting people to have their independence and dignity.

The home boasts a number of lounges, two dining area, two cafes, a library and hair dressing salon, as well as beautifully landscaped gardens and patio areas. Each room is en-suite and decorated to a hotel standard, whilst each floor has a modern equipped bathroom facility.

The head chef who won MMCG Masterchef of the year, has developed a seasonal menu to suit all palettes, and promote choice. She meets with the people living at the home to hear their requirements and this is reflected in her menu.

Looking at ways to engage with the people that live at the home in a meaningful way is important to the activities coordinator.

The people living at the home are invited to participate in clubs such as gardening, baking, maintenance facilitated by the staff of the home. She also has engaged with the community having local Zumba, Tai Chi, Music for therapy companies attend the home.

Once your loved one is at the home, the team operate a “home from home” feel allowing you to visit the home at any time and offer the opportunities for you to join in any events or meals. Care plans are also structured and reviewed regularly using information provided by family, friends and medical professionals to ensure a meaning quality of life.

The care home is generally a comfortable place. There is evidence that housekeeping/cleanliness is below par. We do not see any evidence of physio/exercise. It would be helpful to have a record of when he has a shower, goes to the toilet etc to check on his welfare, what he is eating, refusing to eat
etc.

On Christmas day, Buckingham House provided a wonderful lunch for residents and families for those who chose to join their loved ones. The staff were committed to ensuring everyone had a happy, relaxed time together. From the chef to every carer and member of staff. I left feeling happy that my mum

The nursing staff, carers and whole membership of the home all work tirelessly to look after and care for their residents. Always clean, the food is good and wholesome. There is always a welcome when you arrive. For continuity of care, I just wish there wasn't such a turnover of staff, especially for
the residents who need time to know their carers.

My Sister has been in this care home since October 2015. The staff are hardworking and dedicated to the comfort of our sister. She does not communicate in any way, yet they seem to understand her every need. All care is carried out so that the resident keeps her dignity at all times.
Although it is
difficult to know her personal feelings. My Sister's carers always seem to know what is needed without any verbal communication.
She is always clean and well cared for. Her clothes are always clean and the laundry and cleaning staff do a fantastic job. Her room is immaculate and we have never had any cause to complain about cleanliness.
The home is furnished well and the reception and office staff are always welcoming. Any queries are quickly answered and dealt with professionally.

My wife and I visit our dear friend of 98 years each week. We arranged to transfer her from a previous home since there had been a significant deterioration in the overall standard of care at that home and a continuous change of personnel and careers. Our friend has now been with Buckingham House for
almost a year and we are very pleased with the move. There is continuity of staff and carers who take a real and genuine interest in our dear friend. It is such a great and enjoyable change. All members of staff go that extra distance to look after our friend. Her next of kin (no relation to our friend nor my wife and me) is equally very pleased with the care, friendliness and love they show to our friend. We have already recommended Buckingham House to a business friend who arranged for his father to be a resident before he passed away.

My dad has now been in Buckingham House Care Home for 4 weeks. When he arrived he was traumatised following a 6 week stay in hospital, which had a devastating effect on his advanced Alzheimer’s.
During these first difficult few weeks, I have watched the staff as they dealt with my dad (as well as
the emotional and upset members of his family). I can honestly say that, even when his behaviour was extremely difficult, the staff treated him (and us) with kindness, compassion and understanding.
They have tried everything in their power to help and care for a very distressed and unwell elderly gentleman. I have nothing but gratitude and admiration for the staff at Buckingham House. Their genuine warmth and kindness is much appreciated and I hope that he will continue to settle into this lovely, caring environment.

Mother was sent to this care home by NHS CHC after having a hip operation. She has mental capacity but the care home is completely unsuitable for such a person since there is no segregation from people with dementia. She became depressed with the environment and after three weeks was re-admitted to
hospital with a heart attack. Four hours passed after she first reported feeling unwell before an ambulance was called.


The laundry service lost at least two items of her clothing since it does not mark the clothing but relies on residents or relatives to do so.


Most of the staff were cheerful and helpful and treated her with care and respect.

I have visited my friend who has been a resident since February 2017 on many occasions since her admission and have found the following;
All staff extremely courteous from reception staff to housekeepers and catering.
The manager of the home is always kind, pleasant, supportive and always available
for discussion.
The food is appetising and fresh. Staff nurses and carers are loving and compassionate and always ready to help.

Buckingham House is my mother's third placement.
The overall standard of person centred care far exceeds anywhere else she has been.
All staff (too many names to mention) are pleasant, kind and professional. Management are keen to listen to family and friends who visit.
Cleanliness is very good.
Food is fresh and sensible portion sizes.
Furnishings tasteful. Overall 10/10 for us.

I have been part of the Buckingham House family since June 2015, starting my journey as a Health Care Assistant, right the way through to the Deputy Manager for 2 years to most recently being appointed as the Home Manager in August 2021.
Working within the home, I have discovered that I could not see myself working within any other profession. I am passionate and committed to provide resident led care, empowering those whose home we have the privilege of working within to have the best and most independent quality of life. I love keeping involved in daily living within the home and continue to support residents and the team with daily life at Buckingham House.
