I was visiting my friend when I needed help, carers were there immediately. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My friend is very comfortable and is certainly well looked after. The atmosphere in the home is warm and friendly.

Mother was sent to this care home by NHS CHC after having a hip operation. She has mental capacity but the care home is completely unsuitable for such a person since there is no segregation from people with dementia. She became depressed with the environment and after three weeks was re-admitted to hospital with a heart attack. Four hours passed after she first reported feeling unwell before an ambulance was called.

The laundry service lost at least two items of her clothing since it does not mark the clothing but relies on residents or relatives to do so.

Most of the staff were cheerful and helpful and treated her with care and respect.

My dad is terminally ill and has been here for the last 4 weeks. We chose this home for the look and feel of the home plus when we looked around the staff were very friendly. We have not been disappointed in the care the team have given my Dad, it's become our second home for us and everyone has been so accommodating.

This home benefits from a 1st class manager and a 1st class activities coordinator. Both are unfailingly cheerful and helpful and very easy to contact and talk to.

My brother is very content and has nothing but praise regarding his life there for two years.

I have visited my friend who has been a resident since February 2017 on many occasions since her admission and have found the following;
All staff extremely courteous from reception staff to housekeepers and catering.
The manager of the home is always kind, pleasant, supportive and always available for discussion.
The food is appetising and fresh. Staff nurses and carers are loving and compassionate and always ready to help.

Overall the care and environment has been excellent.

Buckingham House is my mother's third placement.
The overall standard of person centred care far exceeds anywhere else she has been.
All staff (too many names to mention) are pleasant, kind and professional. Management are keen to listen to family and friends who visit.
Cleanliness is very good. Food is fresh and sensible portion sizes.
Furnishings tasteful. Overall 10/10 for us.

Thank you to all at Buckingham House - keep up the good work!

My aunt has been very well looked after, even when she was going through very difficult times (loss of her husband and brother).
She is always clean and well fed and there are various activities that she takes part in too.
Well done!

P.S. The staff are always happy too.

Our experience of the home has been very positive. First impressions are very good, the home is very clean, tidy and modern with lovely bedrooms and public areas.
Most importantly, the staff are very good. They are very friendly and kind towards my mother and we feel that she is well looked after.
The food is also quite tasty, offers a huge variety from day to day.

Our only issue is the cost, particularly was we do not benefit from any government assistance and changes in management.

Mum has lived at Buckingham House for nearly two years and has consistently been cared for in a kind, gentle and professional manner. As her needs have increased so has the level of support both she and we ourselves have received. The staff treat her as an individual and will always work with us to resolve any minor problems that arise, suggesting solutions to issues and being flexible in their approach. We are confident that she is in good hands and that her life is as safe and happy as can be in the circumstances.

My friend, who I visit, was sitting at the dining table, having finished her lunch. She was asleep. The carers cleaned her up and moved her into the lounge into her chair. I'd like it if she could be cleaned up better, like a wash of the hands and proper face wash. Otherwise, crusty food is left on the face and it's quite unsightly. Carers are nice and friendly and chatty and generally very helpful. Sometimes there's a strong urine smell, maybe more changes are needed.

Overall Experience

My 92 year old mother spent the last 6 months of her life in Buckingham House following a severe stroke that left her totally dependant on nursing care. I chose Buckingham House because it didn't have an institutionalized feel to it and because the manager at the time was so warm and welcoming of my mother. I could not fault the attitude of the staff towards her. They took time to feed her, they were kind, gentle, caring and respectful. I didn't always think they made use of the information we provided and we had a few problems with clothes- belongings but overall i was satisfied with mums care.
