Buckingham House is a purpose-built Care Home providing caregiving for nursing, residential and dementia residents by well-trained and well-led carers and nurses. The home facilitates 24-hour personalised care whilst supporting people to have their independence and dignity.

The home boasts a number of lounges, two dining area, two cafes, a library and hair dressing salon, as well as beautifully landscaped gardens and patio areas. Each room is en-suite and decorated to a hotel standard, whilst each floor has a modern equipped bathroom facility.

The head chef who won MMCG Masterchef of the year, has developed a seasonal menu to suit all palettes, and promote choice. She meets with the people living at the home to hear their requirements and this is reflected in her menu.

Looking at ways to engage with the people that live at the home in a meaningful way is important to the activities coordinator.

The people living at the home are invited to participate in clubs such as gardening, baking, maintenance facilitated by the staff of the home. She also has engaged with the community having local Zumba, Tai Chi, Music for therapy companies attend the home.

Once your loved one is at the home, the team operate a “home from home” feel allowing you to visit the home at any time and offer the opportunities for you to join in any events or meals. Care plans are also structured and reviewed regularly using information provided by family, friends and medical professionals to ensure a meaning quality of life.

My aunt has been very well looked after, even when she was going through very difficult times (loss of her husband and brother).
She is always clean and well fed and there are various activities that she takes part in too.
Well done!

Our experience of the home has been very positive. First impressions are very good, the home is very clean, tidy and modern with lovely bedrooms and public areas.
Most importantly, the staff are very good. They are very friendly and kind towards my mother and we feel that she is well looked after.
The food is also quite tasty, offers a huge variety from day to day.
Our only issue is the cost, particularly was we do not benefit from any government assistance and changes in management.

Mum has lived at Buckingham House for nearly two years and has consistently been cared for in a kind, gentle and professional manner. As her needs have increased so has the level of support both she and we ourselves have received. The staff treat her as an individual and will always work with us to
resolve any minor problems that arise, suggesting solutions to issues and being flexible in their approach. We are confident that she is in good hands and that her life is as safe and happy as can be in the circumstances.

I am 87 years old and receive all the care I need.
The activities are good and during the week are organised well.
The food is good but the evening meals need subsidising with a sandwich sometimes.

My friend, who I visit, was sitting at the dining table, having finished her lunch. She was asleep. The carers cleaned her up and moved her into the lounge into her chair. I'd like it if she could be cleaned up better, like a wash of the hands and proper face wash. Otherwise, crusty food is left
on the face and it's quite unsightly. Carers are nice and friendly and chatty and generally very helpful. Sometimes there's a strong urine smell, maybe more changes are needed.

My 92 year old mother spent the last 6 months of her life in Buckingham House following a severe stroke that left her totally dependant on nursing care. I chose Buckingham House because it didn't have an institutionalized feel to it and because the manager at the time was so warm and welcoming of my
mother. I could not fault the attitude of the staff towards her. They took time to feed her, they were kind, gentle, caring and respectful. I didn't always think they made use of the information we provided and we had a few problems with clothes- belongings but overall i was satisfied with mums care.

I really appreciate the welcoming and caring nature of the staff and the friendly atmosphere. I feel I can visit any time. My mother seems healthy and well cared for. The manager is very loving and gives me confidence. I would now like to have a care meeting to discuss particular aspects of how my mother
is feeling, sometimes a bit lost in all the busy-ness! There are some issues with managing noisy moments and upset, which my mother notices, but on the whole the carers are good at defusing situations. Activities organiser is very good!.

Overall standard of the care home is very good, especially to be recommended is the member of staff who organises the activities for all the residents. My mother in law has become more alert and connected with the world since arriving at Buckingham House. Her cleanliness and condition are very good,
she is well looked after generally and is enjoying her food with a good appetite. The only minor criticism is it would seem that at weekends the staff are very slow at getting residents out of bed in the morning. It seems as if they are up nearer the time for lunch.

I have been part of the Buckingham House family since June 2015, starting my journey as a Health Care Assistant, right the way through to the Deputy Manager for 2 years to most recently being appointed as the Home Manager in August 2021.
Working within the home, I have discovered that I could not see myself working within any other profession. I am passionate and committed to provide resident led care, empowering those whose home we have the privilege of working within to have the best and most independent quality of life. I love keeping involved in daily living within the home and continue to support residents and the team with daily life at Buckingham House.
