Buckingham House is a purpose-built Care Home providing caregiving for nursing, residential and dementia residents by well-trained and well-led carers and nurses. The home facilitates 24-hour personalised care whilst supporting people to have their independence and dignity.

The home boasts a number of lounges, two dining area, two cafes, a library and hair dressing salon, as well as beautifully landscaped gardens and patio areas. Each room is en-suite and decorated to a hotel standard, whilst each floor has a modern equipped bathroom facility.

The head chef who won MMCG Masterchef of the year, has developed a seasonal menu to suit all palettes, and promote choice. She meets with the people living at the home to hear their requirements and this is reflected in her menu.

Looking at ways to engage with the people that live at the home in a meaningful way is important to the activities coordinator.

The people living at the home are invited to participate in clubs such as gardening, baking, maintenance facilitated by the staff of the home. She also has engaged with the community having local Zumba, Tai Chi, Music for therapy companies attend the home.

Once your loved one is at the home, the team operate a “home from home” feel allowing you to visit the home at any time and offer the opportunities for you to join in any events or meals. Care plans are also structured and reviewed regularly using information provided by family, friends and medical professionals to ensure a meaning quality of life.

Despite a difficult past year with Covid-19, my wife seems to have settled in okay. She moved in April 2020. She is a bit restless but has been for a couple of years now. The management and staff I have met have all been delightful, friendly, helpful, and cannot be faulted. My options following are
based on my very restricted access during the pandemic.

Buckingham House provides excellent care for residents. The way the manager and staff have managed the Covid crisis is amazing, relatives are kept well informed and updated with regular phone calls and emails as well as Zoom relatives meetings. The staff are unfailingly kind, gentle and compassionate
to residents - it feels like a family. The staff notice small changes in residents' mood and behaviour and seek to understand why this might be. My mother has now been a resident for 2 years - we have had complete peace of mind and she is happy, with all her needs being met.

Excellent care home. My sister looks and responded to being there very very well. She seems very happy.
The care home is very clean and very well organised.
The manager and his staff are doing a great job. When we arrived for a Sunday visit a few weeks ago, we were treated very well and things were
explained to us.
When my sister arrived she was distant and withdrawn. Now she smiles and laughs again.

My husband was first referred here by NHS for assessment. I decided he was made so welcome and comfortable that I chose to have him remain there as death was imminent. He stayed for a month and I was pleased that he died surrounded by dignity and kindness.
I particularly was made welcome and visit
daily during this dreadful Covid time. Thanks to all reception, nursing and others.

My mum has been a resident for just over a year now and they do a fantastic job.
I truly believe it's the staff that make Buckingham House a "home" they are always happy and go out of their way to help.
With this current climate they have coped amazingly well, going to great lengths to keep the
residents as safe as possible and deservedly so they have just won Care Home of the Year in the Maria Mallaband and Countrywide Care Awards 2020.
I do miss seeing a certain member of staff around the place as she helped us make our decision. Keep it up.

Mum went into Buckingham House for rehab following a hip operation. Within weeks of her admission, the doors were slammed shut. It’s been a seriously distressing time for everyone. Whilst staff worked relentlessly, against all odds, to keep the residents safe, protected and well, they also had to find
time to take on the activities and keep family in touch with photos, WhatsApp chats and regular phone calls. PPE was ordered early, and they were very quick to get eligible residents tested as soon as they become available.
The doors have now opened for very carefully organised one to one weekly visiting - it was unbelievably wonderful to see Mum again, so many months later, sitting in the sun, in the new, beautifully decorated sensory garden.
I have nothing but the highest of praise and admiration for the manager and all his wonderful staff, always so cheerful and patient. I know they will continue to do their utmost to keep Mum well, safe and happy. I can not recommend Buckingham House highly enough.

Wonderful standard of care and safety for all residents, particularly impressed by the way the care home was well prepared during the coronavirus outbreak and had adequate PPE and safety procedures in place to keep its residents and staff healthy. I was not happy with the previous management but things
have been better after January.

My mother has been a resident of Buckingham House for the past three years or so. I cannot praise the staff enough for their fantastic care, from the cleaners to the entertainers, carers, nurses, cooks and beyond. Particularly during Covid which must be extremely stressful for all. As a front line worker
myself, I know how hard this is. This week, visiting opened on a one to one basis. Having not seen mun since Feb this was quite emotional for me. It was really well organised in the beautifully decorated courtyard outside, full of colour and sensory objects, just lovely. I cannot recommend Buckingham Palace enough.

I cannot recommend Buckingham House Care Home highly enough. The staff are extremely friendly, caring and happy to go above and beyond what I could expect from them.
The home feels more like a hotel than an institution-like care home and my mother has been very happy enjoying the garden, good food,
activities, visitors and an attractive modern building. I have in fact already recommended Buckingham House to a neighbour as the individual care my mother receives sets this home apart.
The handling of the recent Coronavirus pandemic has been excellent; totally in contrast to scary news articles. Clear communication throughout, very accommodating to facilitate virtual/telephone visits and always so friendly.

My husband has been a resident at Gerrards Cross for a year now. The care which I think is the most important thing is excellent. I visit nearly every day, and I must say, this home has worked out perfectly for his needs (dementia). It is always warm, friendly and cheerful. My husband enjoys the food,
which always looks tasty. Lots of entertainment too. I am very pleased. Thank you!

Since my dad has been at Buckingham House, the care and kindness they have shown my dad is excellent and my mum and I. Even when my dad has been difficult they have made him laugh and cheered him up so much. He seems so much better in his self since being at this fantastic care home, Buckingham House.

My father (97) was transferred to Buckingham House after 8 weeks in hospital.
He rapidly improved in health and his daily care has been outstanding.
Buckingham House has a lovely family feel, the carers are all lovely and the home appears well managed.
Everyone who has visited my father remarks on
the visibility of staff.
Best of all, Buckingham House does not smell!

I have been part of the Buckingham House family since June 2015, starting my journey as a Health Care Assistant, right the way through to the Deputy Manager for 2 years to most recently being appointed as the Home Manager in August 2021.
Working within the home, I have discovered that I could not see myself working within any other profession. I am passionate and committed to provide resident led care, empowering those whose home we have the privilege of working within to have the best and most independent quality of life. I love keeping involved in daily living within the home and continue to support residents and the team with daily life at Buckingham House.
