I found Berehill House very friendly and helpful, they meet my mother's needs and do it in a caring way. Dealing with dementia is not an easy task but all staff show a very good understanding of their needs.
The office staff are approachable with any of my concerns so overall I'm very happy with my
mother's treatment.

My wife has dementia and can be awkward if she feels that way. The staff are very patient with her, making sure she is always comfortable and kept immaculately clean and tidy.
I and my family have always been made very welcome to visit my wife which makes you feel relaxed and not in the way.

My Dad is really happy and content at Berehill House. He has his own little room he likes to sit and watch his tv. The home is friendly and vibrant with lots of things to look at. Care staff work hard as a team to make all the residents happy. My Dad is well cared for.

Overall I am pleased that we chose Berehill. Communication between the care home and family members of the residents could be improved. It is difficult to complete some of the criteria below since we don't eat at the home for instance.

Can't thank the staff enough for the way they have helped mum settle in. They realised she enjoyed knitting and have gone out of their way to encourage her. She made poppies for Remembrance Day and the staff really embraced the idea, some joined in with the knitting and all the staff and residents bought
a poppy to raise funds for the British Legion. If mum gets anxious, there is always someone who will take the time to sit with her and put her mind at ease. I have been really impressed with Berehill House and am so glad that I chose it for mum to spend her final years.

Berehill House has been looking after my mum for the last two months on a trial basis. I am so happy that my mum has decided to stay and make this her home. All the staff I have met have been genuinely friendly and very professional. The house has a very special atmosphere of caring but not feeling
like an institution, a large family home run by people who care and pleased to be helping and residents with their individual needs in a dignified way.
A rare find which we as a family feel lucky to have found!

This is by far the best care home I have visited. It is like a home from home - staff and residents are very caring and friendly. It doesn't have the clinical feel that many care homes do. We are greeted and treated as part of the family, not as some outsiders. The care is superb and the dedication
of staff second to none. Should I need a care home personally in the future, this would be my first choice.

I am very pleased that dad has found himself at Berehill House to live. I was concerned that dad was better off at home with the rest of our family but I have found my dad to be happier at the home. Berehill House has been a new start for dad, not an ending. Dad is treated well by the staff he is taken
out quite often he feels part of a family.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.657)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.657) out of 10 for Berehill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.757 for Berehill House is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.757
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Berehill House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
