Excellent nursing services by staff in administering medications and nutrition via the PEG.
A hardworking dedicated team of carers providing excellent hygiene care with dignity and empathy.
Resident rooms are kept clean and tidy every day.
Laundry staff provide excellent services of clothes washing and ironing.
Activities provided are diverse and support resident social interaction and make them feel valued and happy.

A better usage of the smart screen in the café area to project music concerts for residents on days when no activities are provided.

My husband is a regular visitor to this facility and I can't think of a better place for him to visit and meet other males.
Wednesday is the highlight of his week as for the rest of the week he is under a petticoat government.

The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble and we are always sure of a smiling face.

From the moment they allowed me to be admitted very late in the evening and got me to bed on the first night everything has been wonderful. The staff are all helpful and lovely and kind and the food. The chef is surely one of the top chefs in the country. All facilities excellent.

My mother has struggled with depression since the death of my stepfather 3 years ago, had lost all interest in life and what was happening around her. I discovered that she could go to Tennyson Wharf for the day and suggested it. She has visited various care homes over the years to see friends and relatives and wasn't impressed with the idea but agreed to go and look. One short visit persuaded her to give it a try. I dropped her off at 10 am looking forward to it but slightly nervous as she wouldn't know anyone. I collected her at 4 pm and couldn't believe the difference in her. She walked out with her shoulders back, her head up and she was no longer shuffling like a little old lady. That transformation continued through the following week as she talked daily about what she'd done and when we arrived for the second visit and she was greeted by her name as soon as she set foot in the door I knew it was all going to be ok. She is now planning a stay when I go on holiday.

Good Points:
Comfortable; clean; spacious and relaxing environment. No-one rushing about or shouting - thus keeping stress for residents and visitors to a minimum.
Staff are genuinely caring and all seem to know where residents are at any particular time; however, residents are free to 'wander' without being 'told off'. This creates a lovely atmosphere. More like a hotel, to be honest.
Menu looks good and creative. Catering staff are very tolerant of late-comers (and the inevitable 'moaners'). Tea and coffee freely available. Visitors are encouraged to self-serve, though staff are always at hand if required.
Great views from Mum's room; and the sitting and dining rooms.
The room is exactly the right size and is NOT stiflingly hot.
Easy to contact a senior member of staff if necessary.
Loads of activities, including Mum's favourite - the mum and toddler group
Bad Points:

Apart from the cost (!), there are NO bad points. I would recommend this Home without any hesitation.

My first experience was being invited to help with the entertainment at the official opening. Being resident on the nearby estate, I have continued to support fundraising and open days. As a result of this, I have become friends with a couple of residents and on a number of occasions enjoyed an excellent meal in their company. All the staff come over as very caring and considerate.

My very elderly mother died in March of old age and infections. The care my mother had was wonderful and every possible thing was done for her comfort. The staff were extremely caring with both her and us and we were delighted with the happy family feel of the care home from everyone involved including cleaners, gardeners, tea trolley, reception and of course, nurses and carers. It is an extremely high standard home, very clean and nice smelling. Well done!

We were very impressed by the reception we received from a member of staff who was so happy and welcoming and obviously was really proud of the care and facilities on offer. We have found this to be true - everyone has been so kind to mum. The care has been brilliant - my mum has been transformed in one day! From not wanting to get out of bed and get dressed, my mum has been showered, hair is done and she has eaten a wonderful meal with lovely residents in the dining room. Lovely environment, clean and stimulating, friendly and personable manager with a bouquet of flowers for mum to welcome her. Thank you.

Good - spotless, bright and cool. Good facilities and location. Good food. Attentive and friendly staff.

Not so good - confusion caused due to invoicing policy i.e one person stated at end of 2-week respite care, another stated it should be paid up front.

Throughout the 14 months of my relative's residence, I have been extremely impressed with the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. It is clear it is a 'happy ship'.

In addition, my relative was treated with courtesy dignity and respect as well as with patience and prompt attention to her needs. Barchester is, in relative terms, expensive, but 'you get what you pay for'. Doubtless, I shall be booking in in a few year's time.

Having visited residents in other care homes in recent months, I am impressed by the overall ambience of Tennyson Wharf Care Home.
It is a pleasure to see my friend happy here despite his physical limitations.
The situation and surroundings are perfect and the cleanliness, staff, food and facilities are far ahead of those other homes I have visited.

However, all of these advantages are reflected in the fees and it is not for those of limited means.

My husband has had three stays at Tennyson Wharf Care Home. The staff are excellent food is better than a lot of first-class restaurants, rooms are lovely with a good outlook and very clean.
I like the time staff spend with my husband nothing is too much trouble.

We have to travel 35 miles to Tennyson Wharf. There are two others a lot closer but the standard is no way as good. That's why I am happy to travel.
