Mountfitchet House is a purpose-built care home set within the Essex countryside. The skilled team deliver residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as respite and sensitive end of life care.

Residents enjoy a great lifestyle thanks to the luxury facilities, including a café, pub, cinema room and hair salon. The home is divided into four suites, each with its own lounge and dining room. The bedrooms are spacious with a private ensuite bathroom, and outside there are beautiful, landscaped gardens – perfect for residents to relax in.

Located in a small village near Stansted, the home has great links to major motorways and a regular train service to London and Cambridge. The team strives to ensure residents continue to lead fulfilling and enjoyable lives by getting to know each resident as an individual, tailoring every aspect of their care to their unique needs and tastes.

of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.

Please note, the weekly fee does not include hairdressing, chiropody or other healthcare visits or

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My mum seemed very happy at the home and the care from the staff was outstanding. Watching Mum enjoy playing bingo and making pizzas having her nails done just showed how much she enjoyed being there. She also made a few friends as well.

My mother has settled well into life at Mountfitchet House Care Home. This is a result of the level of care she is receiving which is delivered with compassion and dignity. Every request is met with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

From the first point of contact with the customer relations manager to the activities team, the nurses, carer and cleaners, my mother and I have been treated as friends. The home provides a very calm ambience, and the staff are always ready to help or support both residents and visitors. A few teething
problems have been resolved by a very competent team.

We are very happy with the standard of care and friendliness of the staff. Mum has no complaints and enjoys the food and service. There is always a good programme of activities and someone usually available to escort Mum round the garden.

Superb service as soon as we approached. Helped immensely with the transition from selling the house to permanent residency. Units feel like family homes with a cosy lounge and dining room attached. Serviettes on tables, lovely pictures. Staff are the same people and have got to know my mum very quickly
and her likes and needs and have helped me and family. Daily activities are fun. I could not have found a nicer home for my mum.

Having made the difficult decision that it was time for Dad to have full-time dementia care, I first visited Mountfitchet House, and I knew that he would be in a really caring and supportive environment - not just for him but also for myself. The atmosphere is calm, and all the staff are absolutely
fantastic. Mountfitchet House has excellent facilities, and I know for sure that my dad is well cared for and feels- and is safe.

Mu husband, who suffers from dementia, has been a resident of Mountfitchet House for the past three months. I am very happy with the standard of care he receives. The staff are kind, caring, pleasant and empathic. They perform a difficult job whilst displaying patience and treating the residents with
dignity. The gardens are a delight for those residents who are able to take advantage of them.

My father has been living at Mountfitchet House for nearly 3 years and overall the experience has been very good. He suffers from severe physical disability plus dementia which makes him totally dependent on close personal care; I'm pleased to say this has generally been to a high standard and much
better than the previous care home he was at. The staff are cheerful and treat the residents with respect. Standards of cleanliness are high and the rooms are as good as it gets. Food quality is always good and sometimes excellent.
This all comes at a rather high price, but Mountfitchet House is significantly better than most alternatives in the area, in my opinion.

We selected Mountfitchet House and Mum has been there for over 9 months. We're impressed by the specialist Dementia Care that she has received and we have witnessed the benefits of Mum having that 1-2-1 focus and attention day and night. I would also like to give thanks in recognition as to the level
of support that is also given to the family.
When you enter the home, there is a feeling you get that is unrelated to any fixtures and fittings but simply the undeniable warmth and sense of community, especially evident when entering Mum's wing.

I would just like to say that given the difficulties the staff are all working under, my mum has settled in really well. I would like to say a big thank you for all the hard work, diligence and professionalism during this time. The manager, nursing staff, customer care team, all

My brother moved into Mountfitchet on the 13th July 2021 and our family noticed a great difference in him after just one week of him being a resident. He is so happy and content and now has a quality of life again as the staff involve him in activities, trips out and just generally being there for him
if just for a chat. He is extremely well cared for and I no longer wake up worrying for him as I know he is in very good hands. The staff are amazing and kind and accommodate everything they can and I cannot thank them enough for giving him a lovely life and I am extremely grateful to all. I bless the day I found Mountfitchet and highly recommend this care home, I wouldn’t put my bother anywhere else.

Joanna Duke

Job Title: Home Manager

I started my career as a healthcare assistant before training and qualifying as a nurse. That was 24 years ago, and, since then, I’ve worked in the NHS and in the private sector. I’ve worked in many different areas of nursing, from paediatric intensive care to end of life and dementia care, and also in management.


I joined Care UK because I wanted to bring my skills and experience to benefit an exciting and forward-thinking care organisation. I love the idea, at the heart of Care UK’s ethos, of fulfilling residents’ lives. I think it’s something everyone can understand and get behind. It motivates the entire team, whatever role they do.


The best part of my role is seeing residents happy and satisfied, and seeing my team’s pride in the way they help others to live happy lives and achieve their wishes.


Away from work I enjoy all sorts of things from holidays and sightseeing, to gardening, baking, watching sports, and going to the theatre, art galleries and museums.
