Having made the difficult decision that it was time for Dad to have full-time dementia care, I first visited Mountfitchet House, and I knew that he would be in a really caring and supportive environment - not just for him but also for myself. The atmosphere is calm, and all the staff are absolutely fantastic. Mountfitchet House has excellent facilities, and I know for sure that my dad is well cared for and feels- and is safe.

We already knew Mountfitchet House, they're having cared for my uncle previously. In particular, residents are offered a range of activities, without pressure. Accommodation is excellent and staff are always pleased to try and help.

Mu husband, who suffers from dementia, has been a resident of Mountfitchet House for the past three months. I am very happy with the standard of care he receives. The staff are kind, caring, pleasant and empathic. They perform a difficult job whilst displaying patience and treating the residents with dignity. The gardens are a delight for those residents who are able to take advantage of them.

When I first visited Mountfitchet House we were only seeking a care home for a short period, but I have been very impressed by the quality of service offered and the professionalism and care demonstrated by all the team. I would not hesitate to recommend Mountfitchet House to anyone seeking a care home for themselves or a relative.

My father has been living at Mountfitchet House for nearly 3 years and overall the experience has been very good. He suffers from severe physical disability plus dementia which makes him totally dependent on close personal care; I'm pleased to say this has generally been to a high standard and much better than the previous care home he was at. The staff are cheerful and treat the residents with respect. Standards of cleanliness are high and the rooms are as good as it gets. Food quality is always good and sometimes excellent.

This all comes at a rather high price, but Mountfitchet House is significantly better than most alternatives in the area, in my opinion.

We selected Mountfitchet House and Mum has been there for over 9 months. We're impressed by the specialist Dementia Care that she has received and we have witnessed the benefits of Mum having that 1-2-1 focus and attention day and night. I would also like to give thanks in recognition as to the level of support that is also given to the family.

When you enter the home, there is a feeling you get that is unrelated to any fixtures and fittings but simply the undeniable warmth and sense of community, especially evident when entering Mum's wing.

Mountfitchet House.

I would just like to say that given the difficulties the staff are all working under, my mum has settled in really well. I would like to say a big thank you for all the hard work, diligence and professionalism during this time. The manager, nursing staff, customer care team, all the care staff, receptionists, catering and cleaners are a credit to this facility as they are all doing a great job. Thank you.

My brother moved into Mountfitchet on the 13th July 2021 and our family noticed a great difference in him after just one week of him being a resident. He is so happy and content and now has a quality of life again as the staff involve him in activities, trips out and just generally being there for him if just for a chat. He is extremely well cared for and I no longer wake up worrying for him as I know he is in very good hands. The staff are amazing and kind and accommodate everything they can and I cannot thank them enough for giving him a lovely life and I am extremely grateful to all. I bless the day I found Mountfitchet and highly recommend this care home, I wouldn’t put my bother anywhere else.

Since my nan went into Mountfitchet House she has been so settled and so happy. The staff make so much effort to play games, motivate them, keep their minds stimulated, and do activities with them. The staff are friendly and show a genuine interest of care towards residents and our overall experience since my nan came to Mountfitchet House is we couldn’t recommend them enough.

This is a very well managed home with well-trained staff who care for my sister with dignity. Throughout the pandemic, they have made every effort to facilitate contact with family. The accommodation is modern and well-appointed, and the security, although not really relevant in my sisters care is very good. My sister had previously been in another care home where the care was not of the standard of Stansted Mountfitchet.

Mountfitchet House is an outstanding care home with staff who really care. My mother was there for 7 weeks and I could not fault the home in any way. I have been to many care homes in my professional life and personally and this home is right up there. Clean, nice rooms, very caring staff, good communication with family. I would recommend this place without reservation.

My husband was admitted to Mountfitchet House on the twenty fifth of March. He had had an extremely difficult and distressing six weeks in hospital. I had already formed a very good relationship with Mountfitchet House for several months, in case my husband needed respite care in the future. When my husband needed what amounted to an emergency admission, the staff bent over backwards to facilitate this in every way. They were presented with a difficult situation but immediately started dealing with it. From the moment he arrived he was welcomed with open arms. The communication has been excellent. I have already thanked everybody for their kindness, care and have said how much it means to my husband and all our family. It has made all the difference. Everyone I speak to gives Mountfitchet House glowing reports. We are full of gratitude and will recommend it whenever we have the opportunity.

Reply from Laura Cook, Customer Relations Manager at Mountfitchet House

Janet, thank you ever so much for your wonderful review. I am so pleased that you and the family are happy with your husband's care and the communication with the home, right from the beginning. Making such a positive difference to the family and to your husband is what we're here for; I'm very happy we've been able to support you all.

My mother has been a resident for nearly 4 years. We have been very pleased with the care provided.

She has taken great pleasure from the gardens ,which are beautifully presented. She particularly likes the brightly painted seat with her name on it. Obviously visiting has been challenging over the last year but wherever possible the lovely team on St Mary’s have enabled window visits and video calls. This gives us a feeling of her life and how she is. It is reassuring to see that she is happy and content.

Reply from Laura Cook, Customer Relations Manager at Mountfitchet House

Thank you for the wonderful review Neil, and for taking the time to complete it. Mum is such an important part of the little community in St Mary's, loved by both residents and staff! Looking forward to welcoming you all back in soon - we can't wait to throw a big summer party for everyone once restrictions are lifted, and you, Mum and the rest of the family can enjoy the gardens together!

Overall Experience
Staff at Mountfitchet House have been infinitely kind and caring towards my sister who has moved into the nursing wing.
It has been a big upheaval for her and the nursing team are working hard to help her come to terms with it emotionally, as well as providing excellent nursing for her complex physical needs.
Above all, they seem to make time to talk and provide reassurance and to make sure that those little – but so important – things like hair styling are done.
I am very appreciative of the fact that the staff and the nursing team have all kept me up to date and have been friendly and easy to contact by phone when I’ve had any concerns.
The same is true of the customer relations manager, the overall home manager, who truly ‘went the extra mile’ by helping me to fill in a complex 37-page disability benefits form.

My sister has only been in Mountfitchet House for a month, but I believe it's the best choice I could have made for her.

Overall Experience
We have had a very positive experience with every staff member we have spoken to at Mountfitchet House, but more than this Mum has looked (as we have not been able to visit her due to Covid restrictions) every content and has told us that she is very happy with her care - we couldn't ask for more at this time. Mum's health has been very poor for some time, but has definitely improved over the few months she has been at Mountfitchet House.
We receive a call fortnightly to discuss Mum's ongoing condition, her medication and any other medical issues that need to be addressed. Should Mum become ill we receive a call straight away to inform us what has happened and if necessary we can visit if it is felt that it would benefit Mum.
Should we have any questions regarding the facilities their Customer Relations Manager is quick to respond and has been a great help to us understanding what is possible regarding care and what is happening with Mum.

Thank you to all staff.

Review from Jane F (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 August 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We experienced yet another example of unparalleled care and kindness this week. Our dear Mum was taken poorly just before 8 pm and had to be seen by the paramedics and then taken to hospital. The lovely team leader of Guernon stayed with Mum for 2 1/hours after her shift ended as Mum was concerned and of course we were not allowed to go to be with her. She was back at the home at 8am and on the phone to the hospital to check on mum having not left until after 10.30pm. As a family, we are overwhelmed by the kindness and care - if we are not allowed to be there with Mum; she couldn’t be receiving better care. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We have had a great experience with the home for my mum over the last 4-years. The care team have done a great job in helping mum, looking after her, and treating her with dignity and individuality. There are many loving carers on the team, and we are so glad we picked Mountfitchet House as the place where my mum could live out her final years. We were particularly touched by the attentiveness, care, thoughtfulness and going beyond the call of duty that we saw in my mum's final days. That was a great help and made the pain easier to bear, to know that there were loving folks around our mum at the end.

Thank you so much, team...

My mum's carers have been almost universally calm and positive when assisting her, which can be difficult.
The home has made every effort to maintain communication with the family both through their Facebook page and facilitating electronic face to face conversations.
She has been given haircuts as one of the carers have that skill and her nails are regularly painted; she looks amazing - way better than me!
Everybody I have spoken to has been helpful and enthusiastic.
Residents have been assisted to go outside to join in the "clap for carers", this gave Mum some sense of being in the community.

I am very impressed at the care and patience of all the staff, they can't wave a magic wand, but they do try everything in their armoury to engage and lift the spirits of Mum and all the residents.
