The Ashton Care Home

Mum came into care home for end of life care requiring 24 hour care that as a family we could no longer offer. The care that she is getting has improved our mum's health unbelievably, so much so mum is asking when she can go back to her own home.

The Ashton is a lovely home. It has a bright, airy & spacious feel. All of the staff are helpful, friendly & polite. They assist you with anything you need & don't mind you asking. The rooms are spacious with en suite & plenty of storage. The food is amazing, my mum has never eaten so much! There are activities every day which residents are encouraged to attend if they want to which is great because my mum has dementia & may forget. They have a hairdresser once a week which is a favourite of my mum's. I feel confident that if she stays here she will be comfortable & looked after very well.

We would have no hesitation in recommending The Ashton Care Home. Dad's words to me were 'This is a Good Place' Thank you to all the staff for everything.

Overall my experience is pretty good. There was a problem with smells on the ground floor. There have put new carpets down, and it is a lot better. The thing I don't like is the curtains in the lounge they are always of the hooks and you have a job to close them. Have mentioned, but still the same. There is never towels in the rooms at night. The beds are not changed, could be at least 4-5 days and made up.

7) Poor communication between staff teams, as on day told can be hoisted into armchair and next day told 'No'!? And not had a shower or washed hair in 4/52!

My experience of the care received by my father in law is excellent. he is treated with respect and staff are very friendly.

Since my mum has been at The Ashton, she has been extremley well cared for any problems have been sorted out straight away. The care staff, catering staff and house keeping staff work very hard to keep the residents happy, whether its helping them out of bed, any dietary needs they prefer and keeping the home clean and welcoming

So far our experience has been very good. Rooms are nice and staff very helpful and considerate. Food is very good.

This was my husbands first month in a residential nursing home. He is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and therefore very confused. Staff generally have been good, - some excellent others less so. Some are attentive and engaged with residents and family, others are less involved. Food is good but staffing levels mean that those who need more help to feed, don't always get it.

This is a wonderful place to live.

I was unable to tick the box regarding staff because my experience has been mixed. Some members of staff are excellent, caring, compassionate and treat my Mum with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, others have fallen well below the standard I would expect. There have been occasions where my concerns have not been listened to, my Mum has not received appropriate care and communication has been poor. As a family, we have had to raise a number of serious issues, which has been upsetting in an already difficult time. I appreciate the dedication of the staff who genuinely care for my Mum, but there needs to be consistency across the whole team to ensure every resident receives safe, compassion and respect always

Nice Room

My dad receives consistently good care. The staff are always patient and caring. Everyone who works at Ashton Care Home are friendly and willing to help/listen. Having a loved one in a care home is a challenging time for family, but we are reassured that dad is in the best place with knowledgeable people around him.

My relative is thriving at Ashton. When he arrived he was very weak, now he is robust and happy. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Everyone is kind, to my relative and to me. I feel confident that my relative is in a safe nurturing environment. He has regained confidence thanks to everyone at Ashton.

The Ashton has been our saving grace for looking after Dad. As soon as Dad was in there, he settled very well. The staff are all very good with him and are attentive to his needs. I get regular updates about Dad's health if needed, and sit down regularly with the Head nurse to assess Dad's ongoing care. We visit regularly, and the staff are friendly and attentive to us also. I cannot begin to tell you the relief we feel, knowing Dad is being looked after so well. The home itself has a lovely atmosphere, indeed, a home from home. Facilities are kept in really good condition. They provide regular activities which Dad enjoys, including music, games, and various other entertainment. All in all, we could not be happier, and neither could Dad.

My father was admitted into The Ashton on 02/03/26. He spent 5 weeks to the day on the nursing ward. The staff that looked after him were friendly, caring and very kind, doing their job with diligence. The room was small but bright and comftable, as dad was bed bound it was fire. I did find it noisy as 'buzzers' were going off continually from other floors which was not conducive to rest. The food was better than expected and was always an option to the menu daily. Without having a comparison. The Ashton was a good fit for our needs in a difficult time.

Would definitely recommend.

My wife has only been in this home a week and seems to have settled very well. All staff I have come into contact with have been very approachable kind and professional.

Looking after my friend for two years before he was taken into care and out of my hands, I was concerned how he would be. However, thanks to The Ashton Care Home, everything was fine, my friend settled in well thanks to the staff, carers and nurses at The Ashton, the unsung heroes.

I have nothing but gratitude and thanks for the wonderful team of people at Ashton Care Home and would recommend them without any reservation.
