Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review for Abney Court, we’re very happy to hear your comment about the helpfulness of the team. I also wanted to take time to reassure you that our night team members are permanent colleagues, we have recently had some new starters so this may be why you have noticed some new faces at the home. We are pleased to hear your positive comments towards the care you received from the team and the quality of the services and facilities during your stay. At Abney Court, we offer a varied activities programme and work with residents to incorporate their preferences, however, we acknowledge that some residents do not wish to take part in group activity. Depending on which suite residents reside in during their stay, on occasions where the staff need to tend to a resident as a matter of urgency, noise may occur. The team work to always endeavour to keep this to an absolute minimum, especially during the night.

I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling to keep in contact with your sister-in-law. We acknowledge that keeping in regular communication with their relatives is of paramount importance for residents, and our team will support any resident who wishes to call relatives themselves. At Abney Court, we host regular relative meetings to involve relatives in their loved one’s care which helps us to actively understand any issues surrounding residents and their care needs

I have 14 years of experience in adult social care and children's services.
I’ve worked hard through the years to gain skills and knowledge in many areas of health and social care for adults and children, and I have progressed through numerous roles over the years. Most recently, I achieved a registered manager’s role.
In this role, my focus is on ensuring we provide quality care and that residents and their families are happy. You need to have patience, good communication and listening skills and empathy. I love communicating with residents, their families and my colleagues. Every day I feel inspired to work alongside my team to provide good standards of care.
Knowing that we provide a positive environment and good quality of life for residents makes me proud in my role.
