Abney Court

From the moment of entering there is a welcoming atmosphere. The home is beautifully decorated and furnished. There is never a staff shortage. All grades of staff know the residents by name. I am impressed with the daily activity schedule, carefully planned to meet the differing needs of residents. Residents are treated with respect, kindness and understanding. The daily menu is so impressive. Full marks to the chef and team. Staff "go that extra mile" to help residents.

The best care home, in our area. Professionalism of staff and excellent care given. I visit almost every day and standards never slip, always courteous, polite, and attend to my relatives every need.

I really appreciate that the staff arrange for me to have lunch with my dad on our own when I visit. It is small touches like this which are so important. The only issue is that items get lots very easily - it would be great if the home could find a way to support with this.

Excellent care home. Staff extremely caring. They go out of their way to treat my mum as an individual with kindness and dignity. They all appear to be very fond of my mum and she, in turn, seems fond of them.

I cannot fault Abney Court and the care my elderly mother receives. From first stepping into the home, I knew that my mum would be content here even though she'd always rejected any mention of "care". The atmosphere is more like a five-star hotel, very modern and "boutique" but managing to remain "homely" and welcoming at the same time. The building is full of light and is very well designed. My mum has a downstairs room with a lovely patio overlooking the landscaped gardens and she loves to sit and sunbathe on sunny days. To quote my mother, "The staff are all lovely and I've only ever met nice people here." Mum is treated with dignity and respect at all times and everyone knows her name. The Care Team are amazing and always have a laugh and a joke with her when they pass and the Activity Team work so hard to create a fun and stimulating environment for all the residents. My mum has made some lovely friends here and she loves socialising with them over meals and sharing some banter!

Abney Court is a lovely care home, my Mother has been made to feel very comfortable there. The general feeling is more of a luxury hotel than a care facility. The staff are friendly and engaging and very polite. Her room is bright and welcoming with doors onto her own little patio. The food is excellent, as I have eaten there with my Mother as a guest. It is a pleasure to visit her and I always leave happy that I know she is in the best place.

It is always a difficult choice finding somewhere for a parent to live when they cannot look after themselves safely any more. All the staff at Abney Court are caring, compassionate and unfailingly cheerful. They offer support to both my mother and us, the family, and provide excellent care - emotional, medical, pastoral and social activities. She is in very safe hands.

The nursing staff are fantastic. The whole of the team is amazing. They always go beyond the call of duty, offering social, emotional, physical and medical care. Thank you so much.

Obviously a difficult decision, where to place a loved one when they need care. I could not be happier with the choice of Abney Court. The standards of facilities, cleanliness care and staffing are everything you could hope for. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abney Court to anyone.

We understand that clothes need to be washed at a high temperature to avoid cross-infection, but this process does have a 'shrinking' effect. Also, some clothes go missing in the process. Otherwise, can't fault the place.

Mum is very well looked after each and every day. Her dementia needs are well catered for. The staff are really really lovely. The whole family is made very welcome whenever we arrive to see Mum. The home and its surroundings ensure that you don't see yourself as visiting a care home more a home away from home. So glad we as a family found Abney Court Care Home.

I try to visit my friend about once a week and she usually appears to be happy and well cared for. Visitors are welcomed at all reasonable times and have access to most parts of the home. My friend has dementia and thinks she is staying in a hotel. The staff are friendly and appear to enjoy interacting with the residents even in difficult situations. I think it is one of the best care homes I have visited.

The staff are great and I am happy how my mother is cared for on a daily basis. She is treated with great dignity and patience.

I have found the standards of personal care, food, accommodation and level of service to be of an extremely high nature. The attention to detail seems to be second to none. I have visited many care homes and none compare with Abney Court.

I am very happy with the care being given to my mother, who has advanced dementia. I know that she's steadily declining (as a result of the dementia) and I'm comfortable that everything possible is being done by the staff to care for her in the best possible way.

This is my second review as my mother has now been at Abney Court for nearly 18 months. Overall I am very happy with her care. There have been many ups and downs with my mother's health and some issues are not as common as perhaps other residents may have. I feel the staff at Abney have coped very well with any such issues and always appear patient and supportive. Abney Court is still a lovely place to visit, it always seems bright and welcoming with fresh flowers, cakes etc. and generally a nice atmosphere. The variety of activities is excellent and I am so grateful that despite the fact that Mum will often say no she is still always invited to join in.

The activities and entertainment were very varied. I would go back to Abney Court if I needed respite care again.

Although my Dad was only a resident for 2 weeks before he died, he was treated with dignity and respect the whole time. The staff are second to none, an amazing group of people who obviously care deeply about all their residents.
