We did consider other homes but chose Abbotswood Court Care Home due to the facilities. My mother-in-law was here for two years and we have been very impressed by the care, the facilities but most of all the staff and their caring, professional attitude. I would not hesitate to recommend Abbotswood
Court to anyone considering a care home.

My mother was in Abbotswood Court Care Home for two years. The care and support she received from the staff was outstanding. All members of the team are professional, caring and compassionate. The environment at Abbotswood felt like one big happy family. The end-of-life care that my mum received from
all the staff was amazing and I will be forever grateful to them.

My father stayed in Abbotswood Court Care Home for the last 18 months of his life and I cannot thank them enough. Their care, compassion and professionalism have been outstanding. At every turn, we have been met with a smile and with kindness and understanding. They do so much to enable our relatives

From the first day Dad entered Abbotswood Court Care Home I felt he was in good hands. I cannot thank every member of staff enough for their endless patience and kindness in looking after Dad in the following months. It was also a huge relief for me to be able to phone anytime to check how Dad was.
Thank you Abbotswood for everything.

Abbotswood Court has been a wonderful place for my father for the last three years. They have certainly looked after him well, and treated him with the dignity he deserved. Management continually updating his needs as his dementia got worse. In his last few days the staff were incredibly caring and
thoughtful to his and our needs. Thank you.

My father had suffered with Alzheimer's for some years and was a resident at Abbotswood Care Home for the last 2 1/2 years of his life. He was always treated with respect, was safe and comfortable in the friendly environment. The staff went out of their way to look after him in his failing physical
health and worked extra hard when medical help was not always forthcoming from the local GP practice. When he passed away I would say everyone around him could not have been kinder.

The staff and care given at Abbotswood was exceptional. Highly empathetic, professional and attentive at what can be a very difficult time for families. The Abbotswood team made a big difference to us all. Especially one staff member who was an absolute superstar and much respected by my grandpa and
family during this time there.

Abbotswood Court have been exceptionally caring toward my mother since her first arrival four weeks ago.
They have excelled in managing her volatile mood swings, and distress at a difficult time for my mother, by consistently exploring highly-professional and empathetic treatment, from across the entire
staff and management team. She's in very good hands.
Reply from Anya Sait, Home Admissions Advisor at Abbotswood Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to review us, and your kind words. Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.977)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.977) out of 10 for Abbotswood Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.977 for Abbotswood Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (422 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 432 Ratings = 4.977
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbotswood Court Care Home is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been working in care for over 20 years and have held a range of positions from Support Worker / Carer to Registered Manager. My experience is with learning disabilities and elderly care, including dementia and palliative care. I love the satisfaction of making a positive difference, however great or small, in the life of someone less able than I am, at whatever stage of life they have reached.

Whilst working in care, I have been lucky enough to receive several awards. In 2005, I was the runner-up in the National Registered Managers category of the National Care Awards and a Local Hero Award for Outstanding Achievement in Care run by the Salisbury Journal and Spire FM. I am proud of both these achievements.

What I do

As Deputy Manager, I work closely with Lea as part of the management team. My previous role was Dementia Manager here at Abbotswood Court, and I continue to directly support residents and families of our dementia community. I regularly meet with our residents’ families and, with Lea, ensure families are as much a part of Abbotswood Court as the residents themselves.

My experience

Since completing my Master's degree in Person-Centred Care in Dementia, I have had 16 years’ experience of supporting people living with dementia across a range of age groups.

About me

I joined Abbotswood Court in 2016, and I strive to educate people, particularly families of those living with dementia, to recognise the positive impact of focusing on the abilities the person still has, rather than dwelling on the abilities they have lost. I am passionate about everyone being treated as an individual, continuing to develop the atmosphere of person-centred care at Abbotswood Court and encouraging my Care Team to achieve the best possible care.

As Deputy Manager, I support the Home Manager in ensuring our residents receive the highest standard of care in a safe, welcoming and homely environment. My role combines hands-on involvement with residents and families alongside leadership and guidance for our care team. I love to make a difference in every resident's life.

My Experience
I’m a Registered Nurse from the Philippines, having worked for 5 years in a hospital before I moved to the UK. I worked in a Nursing Home for 10 years as a shadow nurse before I joined Abbotswood Court in October 2015. I have achieved a number of different qualifications in Care over the past 16 yrs.
