There is something special in the warm, supportive community who live well and enjoy luxury facilities, large landscaped gardens and superb home-cooked cuisine.

Every bedroom is spacious, bright and airy with en-suite facilities. The dedicated activities team ensure daily activities are carefully tailored to suit the varied needs of residents and range from boat trips, picnics in the new forest and local afternoon teas to all-important one-to-one time and small social group bonding such as the sunshine ladies club and gents club.

When I realised I could no longer cope with my broken pelvis at home, my daughter was quick to book in here at Abbotswood Court Care Home having had it recommended from friends with ageing parents. Although initially concerned I'd be too much trouble, I was left in no doubt that that's what round the
clock staff of carers are here for and the senior carers were always willing to discuss self-medication worries of one sort or another and give me liquid morphine on time. The place is kept super clean and the dedicated staff always cheerful and happy to have a little chat and the food consistently tasty and tempting.

The staff were extremely considerate and understanding regarding my needs and they treated me with dignity and respect at all times.
I felt very secure and safe throughout my stay.

I share with my wife a large room with much of our home furniture. The room is bright and airy with good views through a large window. All the staff we meet are very helpful and attentive. Any problems are quickly dealt with. We like the wide corridors and many small lounges. We try to attend many of
the activities which are always well organised. We should like to see more information used for meals and improved presentation. We would like meals about an hour later in the evening. We have only been on one outside trip to the zoo which was very well organised in all respects, particularly the driver and support helpers. We would certainly support further trips. We are very happy here.

Mum has been at Abbotswood since late July and we have been very impressed by the care shown to make her feel at home in her new surroundings. The friendly approach is extended to all family and friends who visit, with coffee and biscuits always offered. It has all gone to make Mum’s transition into
her new life very much less stressful than could have been expected. I’m hugely grateful to all staff.

I recently had a three week stay at Abbotswood. I enjoyed my stay and was very impressed with the staff working there who were both caring and helpful - nothing was too much bother and there was a strong team spirit.
My only disappointment was the food. I don't have a large appetite but I found the
portions too small and there was little choice. I was still hungry after the meal.
Supper was at five, which made the evening very long.

Very caring staff at all levels. Excellent activities and links with the community. Residents are encouraged to eat and drink. Records are updated throughout the day. Managers maintain excellent contact with relatives, are open to new ideas and consult regularly. Our father is safe and very settled.

Delighted in general. The home is beautifully and cleverly designed and is kept so clean! The staff are very nice and, on the whole, very attentive.


The thing that lets the place down is the food, which I have rated as poor. It tends to be rather dull and repetitive. Their intentions are good. Quite

often they show something nice on the weekly menu and then it doesn't turn out as described and is sometimes not at all appetising.

The staff at Abbotswood Court welcomed and cared for my mother-in-law for over two years. They had become friends with her and treated her with respect and dignity. She could be difficult but they deal with this behaviour.


Sadly, she passed away on Boxing Day. The staff handled everything associated

with this sad event so well. We were so touched that they dressed her in a favourite outfit before she left for the undertaker. Thank you!

Walking into the home with my husband who was to become a resident in July 2017, I was very much struck by the warmth from the receptionist which carried on as we met the carers who were addressing everyone they met by their name and with a smile. Light, laughter and colour is what struck me as I walked
around and knew that this was the place I would be happy for my husband to stay and to visit him every day. The most important thing was the absence of the usual care home smell. He has been there for the last 5 months, the carers and management are the tops.
They are impressive and extremely well run doing the most difficult jobs in a kind and impressive way.

We are very pleased with Abbotswood Court. It is light, bright and airy with a very comfortable atmosphere and visitors are always made welcome. It is not easy deciding to place a loved one in residential care but the staff work hard at assessing, take individual needs into account and cater for residents
individuality.
There is always some activity going on for residents to engage in if they wish and visitors are welcome to join in too. Mum loves the guinea pigs, enjoys the interactions with staff and staff take care to ensure her wishes are respected. She especially enjoys seeing any visiting well behaved dogs.
We are very happy to recommend Abbotswood Court to future residents. Thank you all!

Mum in law moved into Abbotswood permanently last month, having had several periods of respite and daycare. This was always going to be a challenging time for her and the family as her diagnosis of dementia made her believe that she was still capable of living safely at home with minimal input when
the reality was very different. At every step of this transition, all the staff we have dealt with have been supportive, well informed and understanding. They have shown great kindness and care towards Mum and as a result, she has settled in much more quickly than we ever anticipated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abbotswood to anyone.

The staff and management have been extremely supportive as we've grappled with the difficulties associated with moving our mother from living in her own home to living in residential care. In the month since she's been there though, she looks healthier, is happier and has done things via the activity
programme that she has never done before in her life! We would never have thought that our mum would do karaoke, dance or make her own Christmas cards. The wonderful people at Abbotswood Court have helped our mother start living her life to the full again.

I had two weeks stay at Abbotswood Court with my husband who has Alzheimer's and whom I have been caring for at home.
This proved to be a great 'holiday' for me whilst he was being cared for by an extremely caring group of carers, in an extremely comfortable and modern home with many organised activities.
Although my husband was unable to participate in these and therefore spent most of the time sleeping in the chair and things were obviously confusing for him.

We have been very impressed in a very short space of time, with all levels of staff we have met. Everyone has been very friendly and helpful, but also professional in their approach a great deal of thought has gone into the design and ethos of the care home, especially in dealing with residents who
have dementia. We feel this is being extremely well cared for in a happy and safe environment, where she is positively encouraged to join in activities, giving her much needed stimulation. If we are unable to continue to care for her at home. This is the next best place.

My mother went in for two weeks respite care, however in that time they managed to lose half her clothes, laundry items weren't always tagged, inventory list went missing so she came home without many of her belongings.
It also came to light that they had managed to change her surgery and medical notes
without my knowledge, even though they were aware that I had power of attorney. Consequently, my mother almost ran out of medication, so my mothers stay there was just one catalogue of errors.

Lea Wintle

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2017

I have been working in care for over 20 years and have held a range of positions from Support Worker / Carer to Registered Manager. My experience is with learning disabilities and elderly care, including dementia and palliative care. I love the satisfaction of making a positive difference, however great or small, in the life of someone less able than I am, at whatever stage of life they have reached.


Whilst working in care, I have been lucky enough to receive several awards. In 2005, I was the runner-up in the National Registered Managers category of the National Care Awards and a Local Hero Award for Outstanding Achievement in Care run by the Salisbury Journal and Spire FM. I am proud of both these achievements.

What I do


As Deputy Manager, I work closely with Lea as part of the management team. My previous role was Dementia Manager here at Abbotswood Court, and I continue to directly support residents and families of our dementia community. I regularly meet with our residents’ families and, with Lea, ensure families are as much a part of Abbotswood Court as the residents themselves.


My experience


Since completing my Master's degree in Person-Centred Care in Dementia, I have had 16 years’ experience of supporting people living with dementia across a range of age groups.


About me


I joined Abbotswood Court in 2016, and I strive to educate people, particularly families of those living with dementia, to recognise the positive impact of focusing on the abilities the person still has, rather than dwelling on the abilities they have lost. I am passionate about everyone being treated as an individual, continuing to develop the atmosphere of person-centred care at Abbotswood Court and encouraging my Care Team to achieve the best possible care.

I’m a Registered Nurse in the Philippines and worked for 5 years in a Hospital before I moved to the UK and worked in a Nursing Home for 10yrs as a Shadow Nurse before I joined Abbotswood Court in October 2015. I have achieved different qualifications in Care for the past 16 yrs.


Being part of the Abbotswood Team has helped me grow and becoming Deputy Manager has made me feel so proud and is a dream come true!


My journey at Abbotswood started as a Senior Carer with a promotion to Team Leader and now as Deputy Manager which I enjoy every single day, challenging but I love challenges!


I have so much passion for working and looking after Elderly people as it reminds me of my Grandma whom I’m very close to. I enjoy most looking after people living with Dementia, seeing them smile makes me happy. I love to make a difference in their life.


I look forward to seeing Abbotswood Court be one of the best among the rest in delivering care to our lovely residents


If I’m not at work, I make sure I spent quality time with my family. We go out and do window shopping or eat out together. I like taking my 3 children out either for play or just to be together. This is our happy time or sometimes a lazy day at home, in bed together and ordering takeaways!
