My husband has recently spent a total of 3 weeks at Hartismere Place and my overall opinion of care is one of satisfaction. He appeared happy whilst there and was well looked after. The home seems well managed and has a happy atmosphere. Activities seemed somewhat lacking (there was staffing change over difficulties). Music would greatly benefit those who don't watch TV (my husband). On site, a permanent matron with whom to discuss any queries would be a great advantage and an asset to the nursing home.

Thank you very much for your feedback Mary and for your positive comments regarding the care provided at Hartismere Place and management of the home. We are glad that you found that the home has a happy atmosphere and do our best to make this a home from home for residents. With regards to...

My mother had been a resident since the opening of Hartismere Place. She had dementia but despite her difficulties, she was happy and settled. She died in June 2017. The end of her life came quite suddenly during that difficult week. The care home staff supported us all and offered my mother the most sensitive, loving and dignified care imaginable. Unfortunately, she died in hospital but all the preparations were in place to receive her back at the home and I cannot thank them enough for their efforts, meticulous attention to detail and the compassion they extended not only our mother but the whole family.

Received unfailing help in securing a continuing place for a 92-year-old resident whose financial arrangements meant switching from private to local authority funding. The initial concern was that a move to another care home would resist but a converted response by the staff at Hartismere Place in co-operation with social services, allowing an agreement to be reached that overcame what would have been a distressing experience for the resident.

As I have visited my aunty lots of times, I can only say how much I appreciate how well Hartismere Place looks after her. She wants for nothing, it's a home from home. She has told the wife and I how well she is looked after. I have performed here to or three times on the accordion and have always been well received which make us feel really great and I know the residents enjoy us as well.

My aunt has been a resident at Hartismere Place since July and is very happy there. She rates the carers very highly, and also the food and surroundings. Personally, as her niece and next of kin, I have found that everyone I have had contact with is extremely friendly, helpful, caring and approachable, from the administration staff, right through to the cleaners. What more could one ask for - well-done everyone!

I cannot praise highly enough the building, the rooms and especially the kind and care of the staff. What I didn't like was the scant attention of the doctor, bless him as I dare say he is very busy. The team of senior nurses was exemplary. The junior staff nurses very willing, smiley and couldn't do enough for me. I am truly grateful. The go-home team were very confident and helpful. I was overjoyed my dog could visit.

I have recently stayed for 2 weeks at Hartismere House. It was a pleasant experience, more like staying in a comfortable hotel rather than a care home.
Any small fears I may have had disappeared very quickly and I soon felt relaxed and secure.

Most of the staff were always kind, caring and always prepared to go that "extra mile" to help. Everyone agreed that the food was consistently very good. I would not hesitate to recommend Hartismere to any friends and family.

My mum has dementia which is so hard for me and all the family. The only thing keeping us able to cope is the wonderful care she receives at Hartismere. It's a pleasure to visit the carers, cleaners, cooks etc. Not once have we had anything but help and kindness. Nothing is too much trouble, I can ring when I want, if there are any problems they ring me. Words alone cannot express the admiration I have for them all, and if I have to end my days in a care home. I hope it's exactly like Hartismere. God bless.

I arrived from hospital in a seriously debilitated condition, unable even to get out of bed unaided. Thanks to the care and encouragement of all the staff, I am now back on my feet and able to live an independent life once more. I couldn't have done it without them and will always be eternally grateful.

We found staff very attentive and ready to answer any questions. The home itself is very clean and well kept, lovely coffee lounge where both my sister and visitors could relax. Although my sister didn't use any of the facilities we were impressed with the choice. Also as she was sent there to get her mobility back after being in hospital, I can't given an opinion on the 'value for money'.

On this my this visit for a two-hour session, to include assisted bathing and light lunch, I was welcomed by members of staff, and made to feel a part of the established community. Staff were helpfully and courteously attentive to both my carers and me throughout, and I have only the most pleasurable recollections of my visit. Which accord with those I have of each of my previous periods spent at the care centre as a day-time user of the services.

Clean, spacious, friendly and very comfortable and staff are very kind and helpful. Coffee is great, food is great and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Great to have a television in my room. Nice to see lots of old friends who I know in the Eye area. Great to have relaxed visiting hours and to know that all the staff are here to help me get better.

The service that was provided was efficient, caring and helpful. I was particularly impressed how quickly the assessment was carried out and my mother was transferred from another place within a couple of days. This was particularly helpful to the family. The care home standards were excellent, exceptionally clean and staff were very obliging. The only fault i could find was that I smelt smoke (strongly) on a care worker one evening. Apart from that the best care home I have ever visited.

Our first impressions of Hartismere Place were that it's very impressive, like a hotel. The staff are very good but as this home is so big we feel that the one to one care isn't quite the same as it was in our mothers previous home. For instance, mum's glasses went missing and she was wearing someone elses, and couldn't see promptly, which we were not happy about. Hopefully as Hartismere Place gets establish it will be a lovely home for our mum, we understand it's early days and there are bound to be a few hiccups.

Meet the Team (1)

Rebecca Calver
Rebecca CalverJob Title:Home Manager

I’ve been with Care UK since December 2012. I actually transferred from working for Suffolk County Council when the home I was in was taken over by Care UK. I liked the values and support network that Care UK provides. I

I love seeing the differences – large and small – that our team makes to residents’ lives simply by building up relationships with them and their families. Each of us takes huge pride in making Hartismere Place a caring and supportive home with a family atmosphere, and I think it shows.
