Hartismere Place is an 'Outstanding' CQC rated (February 2020), purpose-built care home in Eye, North Suffolk. The team delivers residential and dementia care on a short-term or permanent basis. They also run a day club designed for older people in the local area.

The home is designed to support a fulfilling, varied and comfortable lifestyle. Residents can enjoy the in-house café, hair salon and cinema room. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities, and residents can bring their own possessions to help them feel at home.

A daily activities programme is tailored to the interests of residents. If you've been a keen cook or gardener all your life there is no reason for this to change, the team are on hand to support you.

Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees
for respite stays.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My 96 year old mother has recently had respite care at Hartismere Place for the second time. She went back willingly and this time was more settled and very positive about the experience, despite having to be on the upper floor and the occasional minor problem. She is willing to go again which is very
positive for someone who cherishes her privacy and dislikes communal life. She says that the staff have been kind and helpful.

I am especially grateful for the end of life care you selflessly gave her until the end.

My mother has been living at Hartismere Care Home as part of a rehabilitation program after suffering drug withdrawal (hospital withdrew her Parkinsons drugs in error) and continual urine infections. Her recovery here has been remarkable. She now enjoys life and her day to day care has given her a lease
of life she has never had - which is to be cared for rather than her caring for her family. I've never known her so happy and content!

We checked a number of care homes before selecting this unit. It is 2 years old and built over 3 floors, bright and airy with good access to the property and gardens. The care is provided by a combination of attention by trained nurses, carers, visiting GPs and paramedical staff, as well as hairdressers,
chiropodist etc and the treatment is of the highest standard. The concept of care is using a 'family' grouping and staff and patients are encouraged to mix together with visitors to provide a superb standard of care which we assessed as unsurpassed in the area. This care home is really worth considering!

The carers in the home show endless patience with all residents but especially for those with dementia. They are treated with dignity and respect and their every need catered for.


The home is well run with enjoyable meals and events arranged for the residents are varied and enjoyable. Designed to

There is a lovely atmosphere in Hartismere Place. All the staff are always smiling and welcoming. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, cleaners, kitchen staff, carers and office staff, nothing is too much trouble. Dad has been welcomed into the Hartismere Place family and has settled into his comfortable
room. He appreciates having some of his furniture and his own television in his room and he loves sitting out on his patio and being wheeled around the gardens. There is always a peaceful spot to be found but also plenty to do thanks to the activities manager and the carers. Dad says "he couldn't be in a better place"

My husband has recently spent a total of 3 weeks at Hartismere Place and my overall opinion of care is one of satisfaction. He appeared happy whilst there and was well looked after. The home seems well managed and has a happy atmosphere. Activities seemed somewhat lacking (there was staffing change
over difficulties). Music would greatly benefit those who don't watch TV (my husband). On site, a permanent matron with whom to discuss any queries would be a great advantage and an asset to the nursing home.

My mother had been a resident since the opening of Hartismere Place. She had dementia but despite her difficulties, she was happy and settled. She died in June 2017. The end of her life came quite suddenly during that difficult week. The care home staff supported us all and offered my mother the most
sensitive, loving and dignified care imaginable. Unfortunately, she died in hospital but all the preparations were in place to receive her back at the home and I cannot thank them enough for their efforts, meticulous attention to detail and the compassion they extended not only our mother but the whole family.

Received unfailing help in securing a continuing place for a 92-year-old resident whose financial arrangements meant switching from private to local authority funding. The initial concern was that a move to another care home would resist but a converted response by the staff at Hartismere Place in co-operation
with social services, allowing an agreement to be reached that overcame what would have been a distressing experience for the resident.

Claire Martin

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

I’ve worked for Care UK for nearly a decade now. Before joining the organisation I was a laboratory technician and a registered childminder. When I was looking for a new challenge, I heard great things about Care UK and how its people were supported to develop. That’s certainly been my experience. I started as a carer and have worked my way up. 


I’ve been at Hartismere Place since 2018 as Deputy Manager, so I know everyone here very well. I’ve seen the home grow and flourish, but there’s always more we can do to improve how we work and what we offer to residents, and I’m looking forward to continuing to enhance what we do.  


I love walking around the home and having lovely interactions with the residents. They make my day, as do the great colleagues I work alongside. There’s always a lot of laughter at Hartismere Place, which creates a great atmosphere. 


Outside of work, I’m a keen biker, my husband and I ride all over East Anglia. I also enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, and socialising with friends.
