Overall Experience

My mother-in-law came into Hartismere Place following a hospital admission. This was her fifth admission in not so many months. She did not seem to understand that deteriorating every couple of months and then being brought back from the brink by a hospital admission was not the way to enjoy her twilight years. She is looking and feeling better than she has been for months which I attribute to the care and attention she is receiving. I have nothing but praise for the care and consideration of staff and management. Her room is light and airy, which she loves and she has enjoyed painting and exploring the garden. We now have peace of mind and can relax knowing that she is in capable hands.

Our sister has been in the home since January 2021, and during this time she has been treated with absolute professionalism and respect.
We are continually asked for our input and informed of any changes.

It's sad to see our sister deteriorate, but we couldn't ask for s better place for her.

Overall Experience
I was impressed by the careful approach to infection control and the management of Covid 19. The care home staff were aware of the rules and guidelines. The home was very clean and my client's room was cleaned every day and damp dusted. Although the temperature in my client's room was warm my client could adjust the heating appropriately to her requirements.
The staff were courteous and polite and greeted me in a kind way ensuring that I was aware of my surroundings.
I observed medication being administered by a qualified nurse and was pleased by the manner in which this was dispensed. The nurse explained what the medication was for before asking my client to take them.

My client was able to join in all activities as she wished and expressed her joy at being able to be part of the gardening club. My client was treated with dignity and her privacy was upheld so I could conduct my private conversations in her own room.

Staff are always friendly and happy to help. My friend is leaving Hartismere Place and moving to another care home, staff have been helping and always asking if I needed any help with packing etc. I’ve been made to feel part of the homes staff over the last 3 years and will miss our little chats and laughter.

All the management and staff here are approachable, helpful and clearly committed. Activities for the residents are a strong feature here with a dedicated "lifestyle" team. My wife recently had her 80th birthday and everyone really went the extra mile to make it memorable for her and her close family.

We put my mother into Hartismere Place on 24th December 2019, believing she'd receive the excellent care we were promised.
The considerable medical history I gave the supervising staff was not passed on to carers on the ward.
Staff promised they'd ensure she kept her mobile phone with her and help her answer it so friends and family could check on her. They didn’t.
They promised she would be involved in numerous activities to keep her occupied. She wasn’t.
Despite her chronic ill health, they decided they couldn’t enforce elevating her legs despite it being a prerequisite in hospital.
They didn’t know when she’d had vital blood tests checking her kidney function, and failed, even with supervision, to ensure she swallowed all her tablets.
There wasn’t a single point of contact who seemed familiar with my mother, her health or her state of mind on any given day.
She fell and we weren't notified. Mum told me.

There's so much more but I'm limited to a 1000 characters.

The group is of an extremely high standard with excellent care facilities. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending anyone looking for a care home for their relatives. The only down-side is the standard of food provided. If this could be improved, I would give it a 1st class recommendation.

They also show enthusiasm and kindness for my auntie. I'm glad I chose Hartismere for her care.

My husband has been a resident in Hartismere Place since May 2019. When you first enter you are made to feel welcome immediately. It’s very relaxed and friendly. The coffee shop is such a good idea - my husband is in a wheelchair and he always looks forward to going for a coffee and a cake when we visit. It doesn’t seem like a care home. The staff are always friendly and they know the residents by their names. Everywhere is always clean and spacious with all of the bedrooms having an en-suite wet room. There are no nasty smells anywhere which sometimes is quite obvious in other care homes. The dining rooms are light and airy and there is a choice of dishes every day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hartismere Place for their loved ones.

Hartismere Place welcomes everyone immediately. From the friendly helpfulness of reception staff, the family coffee area, the professional office staff, the 'family' feeling from the care staff and the gardens to beautiful en suite rooms and delightfully 'homey' sitting rooms and dining rooms.
The visible staff earn many thanks but there are also a large number of mainly unseen staff. The kitchens who provide excellent food that suits the residents' care needs. The laundry that ensures all is kept fresh and pressed. The cleaners who go the extra mile to help.
I could not wish for better care for my mother. But it doesn't stop at care it also includes entertainment in the form of trips out, cinema, singing, exercises and games.
Putting together the care and the stimulation my mother receives ensures that I can be completely sure that she is living life to the fullest in a really safe environment.

Thank you to everyone at Hartismere Place.

Meet the Team (1)

Rebecca CalverJob Title:Home Manager

I’ve been with Care UK since December 2012. I actually transferred from working for Suffolk County Council when the home I was in was taken over by Care UK. I liked the values and support network that Care UK provides. I

I love seeing the differences – large and small – that our team makes to residents’ lives simply by building up relationships with them and their families. Each of us takes huge pride in making Hartismere Place a caring and supportive home with a family atmosphere, and I think it shows.
