I thought that choosing a care home for Mum was never going to be easy. However, I have to say that from my first visit to view Ty Llandaff I was met by such friendly faces in a lovely modern purpose built home which is immaculately maintained. I had a strong feeling that Mum would be in safe hands
and that she would be well cared for. She has been a resident for 4 months and is enjoying all that Ty Llandaff has to offer. The activities programme is varied and well run, and Mum particularly enjoys joining in with arts and crafts, proudly showing me her latest creations which are on display in the lounge. The musical entertainment is always enjoyed by her and the Cheese and Wine evening where families are encouraged to join in is a lovely event which we as a family appreciate. The meals too are delicious but it's the homemade cakes that Mum enjoys, particularly the custard tarts with a nice cup of tea. At the heart of Ty Llandaff are the wonderful staff who make it such a happy caring home.

We couldn't be happier with Ty Llandaff. They've brought my Nan back to life. She's got her spark back. The staff are all so kind and considerate and caring. Nan is thriving and that's all because of the staff. The activities are the highlight of her day; we never knew Nan was so talented at arts and
crafts! And all the music activities are wonderful. Thank you a hundred times over to the staff at Ty Llandaff.

My mum moved into Ty Llandaff in the Spring after living alone since we lost my Dad just prior to COVID and following Mum experiencing several falls at home. My Mum was naturally very reluctant to leave the home in which she'd lived since marrying her husband. Despite reservations, my Mum is very pragmatic
so understood it was vital to move into full-time care. Whilst my Mum was initially very happy to be moving somewhere that was clearly a lovely environment, in a perfect corner of Cardiff, her home city, initially we felt she maybe lost that spark and were were concerned she wasn't quite herself. As the weeks and months went by however, Mum's affection for the staff became evident and their warmth, affection and keenness to involve her in things she both loved, and wouldn't ordinarily get involved with has brought back her spark. Music and entertainment have always been my Mum's interests but she's gotten interested in arts and crafts and so much more recently and sincerely thinks the world of her new "friends".

My father-in-law is so happy here, the facilities are first class as well as all the staff.
His room is spacious and immaculate, staff are always checking on him, offering refreshments in between meals.

Ty Llandaff is a first-class care environment. My mother hasn't been so happy in a long time. She is settled, content, has overcome her recent anxieties and she is more confident socially than for some time. The staff have contributed to this by their understanding, caring and dedicated approach. They
have supported my mum in her various needs and encourage her to be as independent as possible. For me personally, the impact of this has been positive - I no longer worry about how I will find her physically and mentally.

Although a very short stay, my Dad was treated with respect and dignity during the last days of his life.

My Dad came to Ty Llandaf in the final days of his life. He was treated with the utmost respect and kindness from the minute he arrived. All of us ( his family) were made welcome and also treated with kindness. The wonderful staff kept us informed at every step and ensured that our Dad had a dignified
death, for that, I cannot praise and thank them enough.
My only regret is that my Dad was not referred earlier by the hospital, which would have given him the quality of life and dignity in his final weeks of life.

I have visited a few care homes and this one is by far the best I've ever seen. I can't believe how well my mother-in-law has settled in. It really is a home-from-home. I can't thank them enough.
They cater to all needs and are extremely professional, welcoming and kind. The staff are excellent. The
activities are great and there are different areas to relax and receive guests. Spotlessly clean. Plenty of food and drink options and snacks always on offer. The surrounding area is lovely and even the parking is good!

From the first respite visit we knew that being a permanent resident at Ty Llandaff was going to work. The feeling as one enters the building is that it's more like halls of residence for seniors than a residential home for the elderly. Of course there is evidence of all the adjustments people with
age-related needs rely on, but these don't overtake the beautifully designed and furnished facilities. Residents are encouraged to pursue their own activities and hobbies outside of the care home and to visit family but the staff also run regular interesting activity days and entertainment. Residential care is not cheap but as an alternative to trying to manage our own care schedule, Ty Llandaff offers a comprehensive 24/7 service. This leaves our family time to enjoy frequent social contact without the inevitable worry/stress of daily healthcare routines, trips and falls and keeping a second home running. We can go to sleep knowing we are not constantly at the call of the 'red button'!

Mum went in for respite for 2 weeks and has been there for nearly 18 months. Her care has been everything we could have wished for. The home always smells fresh and clean and the food is always tasty and well presented.
Mum is completely compos mentis and she is happy being there, although the change
from living in her own home was stressful for her. All in all we are delighted with the service she receives and the communication with us is always open and clear.

Mum was initially admitted for respite after a stroke and initial return home. Mum had another underlying condition. My sister and I selected Ty Llandaff after reading care assessments of the facility by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), reading other reviews and a pre-admission visit. The building and
the environment feels like a hotel more than what I had thought a care home was. Our family are grateful for all the care and support the team on the 1st floor provided to Mum during her stay as she rapidly progressed from nursing respite to nursing and palliative care. Throughout there was real care and Mum was treated with the dignity she deserved after 90 years on this planet. Our family was additionally well looked after during our many visits with staff taking time to talk with us and explain what was both happening and what might be ahead of us. The GP support at the home was also excellent, better than Mum's own GP! Thank you Ty Llandaff.

Ty Llandaff is a caring home where staff have a very good rapport with the residents and their families. There's always plenty of activities organised and some lovely outings for residents, all are encouraged to join in. Having a timetable on the notice board is useful for visitors to see.
Meals are
high nutritional menus to ensure all are getting a balanced diet. The home is always fresh and clean and maintains a high standard of hygiene both in communal areas and bedrooms.

Very pleased to have my father in your home. I know that he is being cared for properly which would not be the case if he had remained at his home. Although he wanted to return home when he initially arrived he gradually came around to the fact that he was being looked after and, very importantly, he

The care given to Dad by Ty Llandaff in his last days was faultless. Having been transferred from The Heath to receive end-of-life care, we knew it wouldn't be an easy time for the family but the staff at Ty Llandaff were so thoughtful and caring. Not only did they give Dad the professional care he
needed they dealt with us in a kind and compassionate manner. All of the nursing and care staff were absolutely amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We were with Dad until the end and can't thank Ty Llandaff for making us comfortable in such sad circumstances.
Ty Llandaff exceeded our expectations and allowed Dad to end his days in peaceful surroundings, being cared for by compassionate professionals, and with his family around him. Thank you so much for all your care and support.

My mum has been in Ty Llandaf for over 6 months.
We must thank all the staff for looking after her so well. They are so attentive and make sure she is comfortable and happy.
I can not recommend the team and the home enough. It's a wonderful home with extremely high standards and a high level of care.

Friends from Cornwall visiting my wife, booked the celebration room. Scones, cream, jam and cakes were put on for us as well as numerous cups of tea. The room was lovely and so were the staff. Very impressed.

My mother moved in recently. All the staff we met were friendly, welcoming and engaging. The facilities are excellent and the residents seemed very happy. There is lots to do so I am confident Mum will settle quickly.

I have worked in the care industry for over 30 years and have extensive experience across the sector. My career to date has been working with local authorities, charity and the private sector, in residential and Nursing Home settings, Day Services and Supported Living. It has been a privilege to care for our elderly and I have had the pleasure of a lifetime of stories and memories in my journey.


I strive for excellence, my door is always open, the values of the Care Concern Group and what I am committed to delivering, care of the highest standard, the basic principles of care I very much respect, and dignity is of the highest priority.


I am a very passionate carer, and endeavour to drive quality in the service for those in our care, with the combined support from staff, families, local authority commissioning teams, health care professionals and regulators.

Sue began working at Ty Llandaff at its opening in 2016. Sue has been our office manager since July 2022 but has previously worked as our senior carer, trainer, and receptionist. Her other experience compiles multiple roles within different departments in the NHS.


Sue is an avid reader of any genre except horror and loves to spend time with her four beautiful dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys going away with her partner in their caravan all around the country – her favourite places are Ceredigion and Cornwall.

My name is James Newing, I have over twenty years of catering experience.


I trained at the Celtic Manor resort gaining my qualifications in NVQ 1,2,3 and 4. I worked my way up to the level of Sous chef during my time and helped cater for such events as the NATO summit and Ryder cup.


I took on my first head chef role for Brains working at the Ty Mawr in Lisvane for two years.


I left then to become a Catering Manager at St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport.


I then became Head chef of Pentwyn house care home in Marshfield until I became Head chef here at Ty Llandaff.
I’m very passionate about food and have taken on an allotment which I and my young children enjoy spending time at, it’s very important for me to teach them to respect food and know where it comes from and how it is grown.


I find my work at Ty Llandaff very rewarding and it’s a pleasure to provide healthy, nutritious meals for the residents.
