My grandad was a resident at Ty Llandaff Care Home for three years, with the first six months of care being fantastic. The staff really looked after him and would know very early on if he was becoming unwell (he was prone to aspiration). For the last two and a half years, the staff turnover was extremely
high with a lot of agency use - this would mean they did not know my grandad and his triggers for illness, subsequently putting my grandad in a dangerously unwell state more than a handful of times. Yes, the facilities are nice, the building is modern and the rooms are too, with the use of a cinema, etc, but all of that means nothing if residents with more complex levels of care are stuck in their rooms. Myself/Sister were frequent visitors and our hearts would break seeing him in the state he was left in at times. In my opinion, the quality and standard of care fell well below what I would expect for any vulnerable elderly adult, let alone for our loved one.

Such a fantastic home for my Aunty! I am not able to visit often due to me living so far away but I visited last year and attended an outdoor tea party for residents and their families and I visited again this week and I couldn’t be happier with how my Aunty is treated and the care and facilities for
her. The staff are amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble and they truly care, communication is good and the management are always accessible and happy to answer any questions, even the senior and area manager who I had the pleasure of meeting as they were pouring tea for the residents at the tea party. It feels like every member of staff, no matter what level, class the residents as family and it’s so nice to see. The home is spotless and the food looks amazing and my Aunty is always full of praise for the staff, who look happy too. I drive home from here feeling happy because I can see how happy and content my Aunty is and this hasn’t always been the case with other care homes.

Due to the recent hard work of the new manager, supported by the staff, the standard and discipline in the home have improved dramatically, across the board. The staff now seem happier and the general aura in the home has now improved noticeably. The food has improved of late and my mum likes the new
menu system. I would like to place on record, my thanks to the reception staff, who have been really supportive, through what has been a difficult time for me. I would also like to thank all the staff for their support and kindness to my mother.

My mum was transferred Ty Llandaff for the final two weeks of her life, as the local hospice were not able to provide care for her. Though Mum was only there for a short time, we were so pleased she was there. As it was end-of-life care we were able to visit her at any time we wanted and in between
times could call any time for an update on how she was. Due to her dementia, Mum was frequently confused and distressed, which sometimes led to challenging behaviours. As a family, we were all in awe of the compassion and patience the staff showed her. Ty Llandaff is a lovely place; the room was spacious and comfortable and the food (little of it though she ate) was lovely. (The little touches, such as bringing tea in a pot, with cups and saucers, made all the difference.) However, it was the staff that made the biggest difference to Mum's final days. Every single person was so kind and caring. We are so grateful. We will never forget them.

My grandad was a resident at Ty Llandaff Care Home for three years. This came to an abrupt end in June 2021 after the quality of care had decreased to a point where it was dangerous for him to be a resident. High turnover of staff, care plans not followed and high-risk residents were put at risk regularly
- this was acknowledged by the management team in place. Facilities such as the cinema and gym are great but sadly are hardly used by residents, particularly those who need more complex levels of care. Often, less mobile residents are left in their rooms and not encouraged to take place in activities. As stated already, the facilities are good but overall the quality of care delivered falls way below the standard one would expect for their loved one.

Dad moved to Ty Llandaff after a long stay in hospital in March 2020, a week before covid hit. For the last two years I can't fault the care at Ty Llandaff given the circumstances, the food was always excellent, the staff attentive and the place was always clean. Dad made some real friends amongst the
staff and residents.

Mum moved to Ty Llandaff from another care home as we felt that she was being neglected and the manager refused to listen to our concerns. Since being in Ty Llandaff, we have appreciated and witnessed the excellent level of care that she is receiving now and the difference it has made to her wellbeing.
We have been moved by the understanding and the knowledge the care home have about Parkinson’s disease and as a result, they have addressed her individual needs. We really do appreciate when they go beyond the call of duty, such as, platting her hair and presenting puréed food in an attractive, appetising way (piping lovely patterns on the plate). The reception team have been great. They are most helpful and cheerful when we contact or visit the home.
More recently, we have found the current management team very approachable and understanding. We are so glad that we moved our mother to T? Llandaff.

Since my grandmother moved into Ty Llandaff in August 2018 the carers and staff have treated her with dignity, compassion and as an individual. I have enjoyed dining here with my grandmother. The food here is second to none. The communication between the home and relatives has certainly improved since
the employment of a family liaison officer. The new visitors' room and easy booking system have made such a difference to our family. Thank you Ty Llandaff for being so welcoming, always.

The staff are extremely attentive to the residents they never seem to be kept waiting at all - very patient and sincere. It feels more like a hotel than a care home. Warm and welcoming whenever I visit. My father is extremely happy here and is encouraged to participate with all the goings-on! He's a
new man since arriving here - talking better and a more upbeat approach to his life.

My father lived here for 13 months until he passed away in January. He initially only went to the home on two weeks respite but within that time asked his family if it would be possible to stay.
I believe this was one of the best years of my father's life.
The staff were excellent they treated him
with respect and dignity and made his time here very special.
The residents and their visitors also played a big part in my fathers well being as they were always friendly and supportive. This Care Home is like no other and has a friendly atmosphere more like a real family home.
I would highly recommend this home to anyone.

My mother stayed at Ty Llandaff Care Home for respite after a hip replacement. The staff were so friendly and supportive treating mum with dignity and respect. Her room was spotlessly clean and spacious with a large on suite wet room. Mum really enjoyed the food which was of very high quality. Although
normally shy, by the end of her stay she was taking part in activities. She made such good progress at Ty Llandaff and I would happily recommend this home.

Ty Llandaff is a care home of the highest standard. From its decor, fine foods and variety of activities, plus its high quality of care to all residents. The staff are well trained in all aspects of care work, and the relaxed atmosphere of the building is well recognised by residents, visitors and healthcare
workers alike. I have spent twelve very happy weeks here, recovering from two operations on my leg. Personally, I would recommend Ty Llandaff to anyone needing recovery and respite, without doubt, its reputation is spreading rapidly in the Cardiff area.

I went into Ty Llandaff feeling very weak and very low in spirit following a heart attack. The week in Ty Llandaff improved my appetite, built up my strength and improved my self-confidence. I am now coping quite well at home as I am on my own. The prospect was quite daunting before, but I am now managing

After a hip operation I was taken to this care home. This was a complete surprise and certainly all the staff made me feel very welcome, making me feel much better after my stay.


Personally, I cannot fault the care and attention I received from everyone I met including physio. It felt more like

I have worked in the care industry for over 30 years and have extensive experience across the sector. My career to date has been working with local authorities, charity and the private sector, in residential and Nursing Home settings, Day Services and Supported Living. It has been a privilege to care for our elderly and I have had the pleasure of a lifetime of stories and memories in my journey.


I strive for excellence, my door is always open, the values of the Care Concern Group and what I am committed to delivering, care of the highest standard, the basic principles of care I very much respect, and dignity is of the highest priority.


I am a very passionate carer, and endeavour to drive quality in the service for those in our care, with the combined support from staff, families, local authority commissioning teams, health care professionals and regulators.

Sue began working at Ty Llandaff at its opening in 2016. Sue has been our office manager since July 2022 but has previously worked as our senior carer, trainer, and receptionist. Her other experience compiles multiple roles within different departments in the NHS.


Sue is an avid reader of any genre except horror and loves to spend time with her four beautiful dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys going away with her partner in their caravan all around the country – her favourite places are Ceredigion and Cornwall.

My name is James Newing, I have over twenty years of catering experience.


I trained at the Celtic Manor resort gaining my qualifications in NVQ 1,2,3 and 4. I worked my way up to the level of Sous chef during my time and helped cater for such events as the NATO summit and Ryder cup.


I took on my first head chef role for Brains working at the Ty Mawr in Lisvane for two years.


I left then to become a Catering Manager at St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport.


I then became Head chef of Pentwyn house care home in Marshfield until I became Head chef here at Ty Llandaff.
I’m very passionate about food and have taken on an allotment which I and my young children enjoy spending time at, it’s very important for me to teach them to respect food and know where it comes from and how it is grown.


I find my work at Ty Llandaff very rewarding and it’s a pleasure to provide healthy, nutritious meals for the residents.

Joseph Joined Ty Llandaff in 2022 as an oversees pre-registered Nurse, with the support of the team at Ty Llandaff, Joseph progressed in his role and successfully completed his OSCE exam and is proudly practising as a nurse in the home, Joseph is a valued member of the Team and has recently welcomed his family to Wales too.

Wendy has been working at Ty Llandaff since February 2018. She has pride in her job and ensures Ty Llandaff is kept clean and tidy. Wendy is making a move to the Laundry at Ty Llandaff in Feb 2023.
