Ty Llandaff Care Home

My mum came into Ty Llandaff for respite care after Christmas. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel extremely welcome. They were keen to know all about my mum so that they could do the best for her. Her health and well-being have both improved since she arrived, which is wonderful. The staff are fantastic - nothing is too much trouble for them - they even got her hearing aids working again! The Office Manager was a great help and is always a friendly face at the home.

My brother has been a resident of Ty Llandaff since June 2023, and he settled in immediately. On my visits, I have always been impressed by the care given to my brother by all the staff, and by the many activities laid on for the residents. I have also always been impressed by the level of cleanliness maintained throughout the home, and by the help given to me personally when I visit. I, and my family, are very happy in the knowledge that my brother is being looked after so well at Ty Llandaff.

Our relative has been here for just over 2 months and we can’t tell you how pleased we are with everything! The whole building is absolutely immaculate, the food is beautiful and presented perfectly but most importantly, the staff are always going above and beyond. It really comforts us as a family to know that our relative is surrounded by staff who actually care about the residents and treat them with the dignity and respect that they all deserve.

It’s also a bonus that we’re able to take our dogs in, who are even treated like royalty as soon as they step in the building being offered treats at reception! Unfortunately, our relative was in a different home prior to here, which was horrific, so I can’t explain how relieved we all feel knowing that Ty Llandaff is worlds apart and that our relative is finally able to be treated with dignity and live in the luxury that he very much deserves. We can’t thank the staff enough for what they’ve done in such a short space of time.

Very warm, caring, and understanding staff who made me and my family feel very comfortable during the whole process of arranging care. Great facilities, nice and clean, and a cosy atmosphere to the whole place.

I visited the home on 2 occasions, on one occasion, I was invited to a resident birthday 'party'. I had a lovely time, was welcomed warmly by the staff and thoroughly enjoyed myself also briefly meeting other residents. The following day I visited on 'spur of the moment'. Again plenty of parking, welcomed at reception, found my resident, was welcomed into the kitchen area, was made a cup of tea, chatted with the man and met some of the other residents, all very congenial.

From the moment we walked into Ty Llandaff we felt the extraordinary warmth, care and professional expertise of the incredible staff. Ty Llandaff is in a gorgeous area of Cardiff with coffee shops, bistros and parks within walking distance which my mum and I enjoy visiting. The home is elegant, scrupulously clean and very well appointed, there are high-quality activities happening regularly but above all, it is genuinely homely. Living overseas I am reliant on the staff to help with things like video calls, shopping and even birthday celebrations and, as many of the other reviewers have also stated, absolutely nothing is too much trouble. The managers are very much a part of day-to-day living for both the residents and the visitors. In summary, all the staff are genuinely amazing and have made the emotional process of moving into a home, smoother than I thought possible. Thank you Ty Llandaff.

When my wife was admitted to Ty Llandaff she was extremely ill. Staff came immediately and supported and comforted her because she was so upset. She has been in care for eight weeks and has now recovered sufficiently to return home. Our thanks are to the highly professional staff of Velindre and the enormous care and concern shown by the staff of Ty Llandaff Care home. Everyone she came into contact with were caring, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

I would expect a high level of care from any registered facility, and Ty Llandaff certainly delivered. What you can’t train people to be is kind, that’s a quality that comes from the heart. Everyone who works there is so kind, thoughtful and genuine. They enjoy their job and it is reflected in their relationships with the people who live there. Well done to everyone, thank you.

Cleanliness is excellent. Very helpful in all matters. Highly recommend to everyone.

Kindness, care and compassion in abundance. A lovely building with every possible convenience. Peace and quiet which are so important to recovery. A very laid-back attitude to everything which is conclusive to relaxation. This is a good home. Just one thing, a fault with the design means that there is a lot of noise at mealtimes.

I'm home after spending three weeks for respite care at Ty Llandaff. I went after two weeks of sleepless nights in the hospital, needing not just quiet and restful sleep but help with daily care. My hair was in desperate need of a wash and trim. At Ty Llandaff, I got all the sleep I needed, with help from friendly expert carers when required. The hairdresser expertly washed and trimmed my hair. So the care, rest and recuperation have fitted me for my return home in a much better condition than when I left the hospital.

I cannot thank the reception enough for the birthday tea on Sunday. You could not have done more to make it special for us.

I have spent a magical day celebrating St David’s day with my grandad at Ty Llandaff today. We got to enjoy a delicious traditional meal in the beautiful dining room, giggled at a game of welsh bingo and listened to my grandad sing along to the entertainment, the staff were amazing. what a brilliant day. I’m so happy that my grandad is living his best life in this amazing home. Thank you.

I'm enjoying my stay at Ty Llandaff Care Home. Everywhere is clean and tidy. The food is first-class and I'm, at last, getting my appetite back. Staff are all friendly and I enjoy time chatting to them. My stay, as a respite guest, has been a very pleasant experience and it's done me good. I feel more myself thanks to the interaction as well as the lovely care and attention I have received.

I was recommended this home as being one of the best ones in Cardiff. My family and I have certainly not been disappointed. It is so comforting to know our mum is being given the highest possible care. She is gaining her strength and mental health back and this is due to the perfect environment, excellent staff and first-class menu - delicious! My mum has enjoyed the walking experience and is gradually gaining her independence. We are all, including our mum, extremely glad she is with you. Thank you.

It's beautifully decorated and very clean and well-maintained. Food is varied and Mum's appetite has returned. She's enjoying eating in the dining room and chatting with other patients and staff. She's enjoyed the activities and socialising as she likes company. The family appreciate that she's being encouraged to bathe and make good use of all facilities. Thank you for taking such good care of her.

Thank you to all the staff at Ty Llandaff Care Home for organising a romantic lunch for Mum and Dad earlier this week to celebrate their 69th Wedding Anniversary. Dad said the food was fabulous and the room had been beautifully decorated for their meal. When I asked if Dad could join Mum for lunch I didn't expect anything like this. So much thought and care was put into the day. Thank you again for making their special day so lovely.

Thank you to all staff at Ty Llandaff, for making our family reunion such a special time in the wonderful celebration room. Tea, coffee and cakes were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. You have really made such a difficult time, as good as it can be and you are brilliant with Mum. Her haircut this week really cheered her up.

My mother has been at Ty Llandaf since February. I cannot thank the dedicated staff and management enough for the care and kindness they have shown my mother. She has settled so well and made new close friends. The new appointed activities person has brought a new life to the home, and my mother can’t wait for an outing in the minibus soon. The staff always have time to listen to relatives even when they are so busy. My mother loves going to the home salon to have her weekly blow dry and manicure, and feels like a million dollars; she looks so well cared for. All I can say is I am very grateful to all the team at Ty Llandaf, especially the staff that continues to look after my mother and has stayed faithful to the home and residents.
