Bourn View Care Home in Bournville opened its doors in June 2017, and it has quickly become one of the most impressive additions to Avery's repertoire of private care homes in the Midlands. They are proud to be associated with the Bournville Village Trust's care community for the elderly, and the home offers respite, residential and dementia care services.

The building stands in an elevated position and boasts stunning views of a waterfall, stream and the Bournville Village. Its sleek design features a beautiful central curved roof, floor-to-ceiling windows, and doors that open to the grounds, creating a light, sunny and connected atmosphere with the surrounding landscape.

The care home in Birmingham has beautiful atriums on each floor, and they house a bistro and bar where residents, friends and families gather. Additionally, four dining rooms and intimate lounges, styled in contemporary décor with bold splashes of colour, lead out to terraces that provide a perfect setting for a pre-dinner drink or an observation of the magnificent surroundings. The home also includes its own hair salon, café, and cinema room.

The home is open to visitors, where you can witness first-hand the beauty of Bourn View Care Home.

My mother has been staying at Bourn View on a respite basis. During her stay, she has been treated with respect and kindness.
The home is exceptionally clean and tastefully furnished and decorated. It is a lovely environment and the staff try to make each day enjoyable and fun.
I would recommend Bourn
View to anyone considering this option for a family member.

Bourn View Care Home is a beautiful, caring place for our seniors. The staff are extraordinary, highly skilled, efficient and most importantly, compassionate.
Regardless of their role, they show a genuine concern and care for the well being of the residents. We're particularly grateful to the manager,
front desk, senior carer and nurse for the exceptional care for my mother.

Both of my parents moved into Bourn View in March. I feel blessed to have found such a wonderful home. The staff and manager are all very caring and nothing is too much trouble. My parents are well cared for, entertained and they are very happy. Dad said it's like we have a bigger family now. I would
highly recommend Bourn View. It's an excellent home and very good value for money.

Nothing was too much trouble for the home in caring for my ninety-five-year-old father. His wishes were respected and he was treated with the utmost dignity and respect. My father was a fiercely independent man with full mental capacity and the staff made every effort to get to know him as an individual
and to engage in lively conversation with him. My father explicitly stated he was very happy with his care and my only regret is that his physical health was not good enough for him to be able to enjoy the home for longer.

My husband was at Bourne View for only 2 weeks before he died. In that time we couldn't fault the home. The carers were superb, caring and compassionate always willing to help. Not only did they care for my husband they were concerned for me and the family making sure we had drinks and food as we sat
with a dying father/grandfather and husband.

The care and dedication from all members of staff from carers to housekeeping to catering to management is amazing. All the staff know mum's name. My mum is treated with dignity. The activities are amazing from going to lunch for a carvery at a local pub, the visits to The Black Country Living Museum
and the visit from Zoolab - all the residents were engaged. I cannot thank all the staff at Bourn View for the wonderful care that my mum is receiving.

We are long-life friends of the resident who has resided at Bourn View on respite for 3 weeks. He has now agreed to become a permanent resident. The staff at Bourn View are excellent. All staff show respect and empathy to the residents and visiting family and friends. We are particularly impressed with
the Bistro idea/area where residents are free to entertain visitors. This encourages people to return time and time again. We have visited numerous homes in Birmingham. However, Bourn View, by far, outstrips them all, providing a 5-star hotel environment.

Bourn View has transformed my mother-in-law from the ugly duckling to a 93-year-old happy swan.
To the staff and management for the care, may I say thank you all.
The home is like a 7-star hotel. You think as you arrive this is so nice then you step inside and you do not want to go home.
You then
are shown around the home and happiness becomes joy.
My mother-in-law, within 8 days, is a changed woman from being inwards, to being like she was some 4 years ago, outgoing and happy.

My father and his partner were in need of respite care for a couple of weeks, following her breaking her hip. He was absolutely worn out caring for her, hence finding Bourn View Care Home for the respite care. From the moment of arrival to the completion of their stay the staff and facilities were absolutely
great. The staff, in particular, were always attentive, kind and friendly, even when hospital and dialysis needs were presented a member of staff looked after both my dad in hospital and were with his partner when she had to attend dialysis.
We knew that at times both had differing levels of care even down to dietary needs being so different, but no problem at all for the staff, who coped with some grumpiness at times but always with a smile and courteous help and care.
Many thanks to all the staff at Bourn View.

We are extremely happy with our sister-in-law being at Bourn View Care Home. The staff work really well as a team to ensure all residents individual care needs are met. Our sister-in-law had a fantastic birthday celebration organised by the activities coordinator. I hadn't seen my sister-in-law enjoying
and looking so happy in a long time. As she has Alzheimer's this made me and my husband contented we had chosen the right place for her.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.795) out of 10 for Bourn View Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.795 for Bourn View Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (247 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 298 Ratings = 4.795
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bourn View Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Hello, my name is Jenna, and I am the Home Manager here at Bournview Care Home.

I have over 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector. Prior to becoming home manager here, I have had several previous roles, including senior care assistant, deputy manager at an Army nursery and a moving and handling trainer for the NHS. I am always looking into ways to develop my skills in the sector and have successfully done this by proudly accomplishing the NVQ levels 2, 3 and 5.

I would best describe myself as someone who is warm, welcoming and someone who is also on the go. In my downtime, I enjoy cheering my children on from the sidelines at their football matches.

Within my career, I have been lucky enough to meet many residents with amazing stories and backgrounds. Seeing my residents happy and enjoying life each day gives me the motivation to perform at the highest level. One memorable moment that I will cherish forever was when one of my residents had difficulties walking. Using my experience, I referred them to occupational therapy, where they began to walk with assistance and without aids within two months. This is just one example of where I have been able to use my skills to better the lives of our residents.

Avery Healthcare, owners of Bournview, best stands out for their luxurious appearance and expectations of what quality care should be received by our residents. All staff receive continuous support and training. And our home is no different. Our home is unique as it is a true home from home. It is filled with an endless amount of fun, care and love. Residents, relatives and staff all form one happy community.

I look forward to welcoming you to Bournview Care Home.

Hi, I’m Sarah, the Deputy Home Manager here at Bournview Care Home. I’ve been proudly part of the Bournview family for 8 years now, and in that time I’ve worn many hats – from Carer and Senior Carer to Team Leader, and now Deputy. With over 13 years in care, I’ve also gained my NVQ Level 3, and I’m currently working hard towards my Level 5.

What I love most about my role is the people – both residents and their families. Building those relationships and being part of their journey means the world to me. The best part of every day is seeing our residents smile, knowing we’re helping them live a happy, fulfilling quality of life.

For me, Bournview isn’t just a workplace – it’s a home full of love, laughter and dedication.
