Overall Experience
Mum has been at Rush Hill Mews since the summer of 2024 having previously spent a year in a different care home.

The moving in process was handled brilliantly and the staff were very welcoming and took time to help Mum settle in. The care has been excellent overall. Mum is not always a willing care receiver so the team have had to work really hard to establish trust and a positive relationship to enable care. Mum's room is a reasonable size and she really enjoys being able to walk in the garden and feed the birds. There is a good range of activities available and the team seem to listen to what residents would like and do their best to provide it. They also put on some fun events for relatives to join in socially with the residents. The food is excellent, everyone enjoys the ready supply cakes and savouries in the bistro when they visit Mum!

My mum has been at Rush Hill Mews since May 2024, I have nothing but praise for the whole team, they are all very friendly and extremely caring. They helped rehabilitate my mum after a fall where she broke her hip. Staff are always available if you have any concerns or questions, and my mum is safe and happy. I would highly recommend Rush Hill.

It is a very emotional experience to find yourself in a care home you never expected to be in. I was very nervous on my first day but I had a warm welcome from everyone. I like my room, looking out onto the garden. My room is looked after beautifully. Housekeeping and laundry service are excellent. All the carers are devoted to the residents. I find their care extraordinary, they love their job. The food is very good! We have a choice of activities each week. It all sounds much too good and at the moment it is!

Overall Experience

This past week my partner had a major appraisal of his rehabilitation by his physiotherapy and occupational therapy team who declared him their star patient - having 'recovered' from his stroke far faster and far better than anyone possibly anticipated. Probably this was a consequence of his character, determination and the superb care he has received at Rush Hill Mews in Bath. Our thanks go especially to the wonderful Rush Hill team that, night and day, supported us both - from the welcoming smile at reception to every aspect of my partner's daily care, the delicious catering, the lovely garden and the endless effort that was taken by so many to help as much as possible - always with a wonderful smile. The staff became true friends.

Very impressed with the care, friendship and encouragement shown towards all residents by all the lovely staff. They have created a family feel environment including all visitors and loved ones in this, ensuring all relevant parties receive updates on each resident's care and well-being. I can be rest assured that when I am not able to be there my friend is in very caring hands. Would highly recommend it. Thank you.

Review from J D (Sister of Resident) published on 20 August 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
After looking around the area for a new home for our sister Rushhill came up tops. We did not make an appointment to visit as we wanted to see how the normal day-to-day works.
We were made very welcome and given a tour of the building and facilities. They answered all our questions and concerns as this was going to be a big move for our sister. All members of staff were very polite and the engagement with residents was good to see. We arrived at lunchtime and the food menus looked delicious.

Our sister is living with dementia so the support and her needs are extremely important. She enjoys the facilities, entertainment and wellbeing activities. Sports day, exercise classes, singing and dancing. She enjoyed having her nails painted and being pampered. We have taken our sister out a few times but she is always happy to return. We are still learning but I would highly recommend Rushhill.

I can’t say enough thank you to the team at Rush Hill Mews. Mum was understandably anxious about moving from her long-term home but the transition to happiness at Rush Hill has been stunningly quick. Everyone at Rush Hill is so kind to Mum and so helpful. Mum is still able to enjoy visits to her previous home, and days out with family and friends, but Mum always wants to be back in time to enjoy supper at Rush Hill, a place that Mum now happily refers to as home. Thank you so much to all who have welcomed Mum and who are caring for her so compassionately and kindly.

The care staff/nurses are lovely and always go that extra mile to make sure my mum is well looked after. She has access to a doctor if she needs one which is a real bonus! The food can be inconsistent in terms of quality but trying to please all the residents, I am sure can be difficult! It was been disappointing that the hairdresser has not been that reliable but now that a new one has just started, so hopefully that has been rectified. On the whole, I am very happy with the care my mum receives at Rush Hill Mews.

Mum came to live at this beautiful nursing home in August 2023. Mum is very happy being at Rush Hill Mews and she partakes in the various activities when she feels up to it. These activities are twice a day and the staff encourage the residents to join in. Mum is always treated with the utmost respect from all of the staff. They are always asking her how she is and if she needs anything. The staff are always friendly and smiling as soon as you enter the building. The menu is like something from a 5-star restaurant. The food is nutritious, piping hot and always looks very appetising. Rooms are cleaned thoroughly and Mum's clothes are always laundered promptly.

The staff could not be any more helpful to both Mum and us. Questions we have are always answered by the team. We feel this is an amazing nursing home all round and are so grateful that we could get Mum here. Thank you for all that you do.

If you have to give up your own home and feel this home is a very good place to come, but like everything else in life, you have to make it work. My room is lovely and my daughter has made it like home. The reception and carers are all great and kind and couldn't be more friendly and welcoming.

I have now regarded Rush Hall Mews as my home for the last seven months. My room, my home is lovely and I have direct access to the garden. The staff here are lovely and friendly! The daily entertainment varies and is much appreciated. The food is lovely and they cater for my dietary requirements. Having my laundry done is luxurious, and my room is cleaned regularly. It almost feels like living in a stately home.

The overarching impression of Rush Hill Mews is of a happy, caring place in which the well-being of the residents is always first priority. The staff are, without exception, always welcoming and cheerful, and never mind being interrupted in what they are doing. Alongside this is a high standard of care, with excellent food! I have been very impressed with the welcome I always receive when I visit, from the reception to any staff who happen to be in the corridor, and the invitations to join in with occasional events (such as the Valentine's Day lunch, or relatives meeting) give a genuine feeling of involvement with all that is going on.

A few days before Christmas, my mother was discharged from hospital after falling and breaking her hip; her house was totally unsuitable for her, but thankfully, Rush Hill Mews had a nursing bed available. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and took great pains to make her as comfortable as possible. The communication between myself and nursing staff was very good which I appreciated at this time especially post-operation. All the staff are very friendly, caring and respectful to my mother's wishes. The home itself is clean, light and spacious and care has been taken to make it homely and comfortable. My mother really enjoys the view from her window and is very comfortable in her room - she loves the en suite and the special bed has been of huge benefit to her. On a personal level, I have found it very reassuring that I know my mother is in a warm, comfortable, caring place where she is being well looked after. I would recommend Rush Hill without any hesitation.

Rush Hill Mews is a lovely place. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and being able to put your own pictures on the walls and bits and pieces around makes them feel more homely therefore comforting. The communal rooms are lovely and bright, with nice furniture and ornaments. There are always fresh flowers around which cheers everyone up. Our mother has been at the home for a few months and loves it. She says that all the staff are kind and friendly which is lovely to hear from her. The entire team at Rush Hill are always helpful and professional and never not smiling! Every day there is some sort of entertainment or activity which our mother is enjoying more than we could imagine.
Overall a lovely care home.

Thank you to all of you for looking after our mother.

I am delighted with the kindness and care that my mother is getting at Rush Hill Mews. All of the staff know her and go above and beyond to make her life there happy and fun. My family and I are so happy we've found the right place for Mum, where she feels safe, and respected and has something new and interesting to do every day. Not only are the staff lovely to Mum, they are also really welcoming to us when we visit and I like the way they treat each other as well, with kindness, humour and mutual respect.

The home is well designed with lovely rooms with en-suite, a French door onto a garden, a communal dining and seating area and spacious corridors. Everything is very clean and fresh. The security seems robust but unobtrusive. There is a nurse on-site and a doctor visits. My father is very happy with the food with a lovely choice 3 times a day. The care home manager made the admission and arrangements very smooth and I was immediately struck not only by her professionalism but also by her kindness. compassion and respect, friendliness and sense of humour. These attributes are shared by all the staff at Rush Hill and this is the reason for my glowing review: whatever the role the staff are unfailingly cheerful friendly and highly competent.

The care assistants are quite exceptional in their kindness, care and personal warmth. They really seem to think of everything - such as arranging a podiatrist. I cannot speak highly enough! A culture of kindness and professionalism.

My mum was transferred to Rush Hill Mews in September 23, from Bowes House, and was made to feel very welcome by all the staff. I have been impressed by the individual level of care for my mum, in the way the nurses always keep me informed of any issues, and that they will respond to any queries that I may have. Mum has a lovely room and has settled in very well, and will no doubt appreciate the good weather, when it arrives, and can utilise the beautiful gardens. Some good friends of mum visited recently and were very impressed with the homely feel, and the caring, compassionate staff. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to others and in fact, have done so.

My mother has been in the care of Rush Hill Mews and previously in other care homes for the past six years and has advanced mixed dementia. During this time, and particularly with reference to the period 2023-2024, I have been pleased with the care and understanding my mother and our family has received. I visit on a very regular basis and am always welcomed and considered and carers are able to update me quickly on how my mother has been on that particular day or over the past week. The introduction of an annual review in 2023 was a very helpful part of the process of sharing information and expertise and consideration of my mother's needs and how best to support her on a daily basis.

Caroline FarrellJob Title:General Manager

I’ve worked in the care sector for nearly 30 years and am passionate about dementia care and end-of-life care, in particular, I’m currently studying for a Masters's degree in dementia care studies.

In this role, it’s important to lead by example and to keep a calm head. Knowledge and experience are important, I started out as a carer and worked my way up, so I know the challenges faced by my team.

Care UK’s ethos of care, which puts residents at the heart of everything, echoes my own values. The organisation also offers superb training and development opportunities so that colleagues can learn and progress in their careers.

I am focused on continuous improvement and have worked on a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for people with dementia, including using technology to promote health and wellbeing. I’m looking forward to supporting the team at Rush Hill Mews to achieve outstanding levels of care.
