From the first telephone call to clearing Dad's room following his passing, all staff at Gracewell have been fantastic. His settling in was handled sensitively. The carers were so upbeat and attentive. The modern purpose-built premises are excellent with wide-open spaces and step-free wet rooms in each
resident's room. Their dedicated covid team ensured visits during the pandemic whilst mitigating risks.

My relatives had reached crisis point at home with failing health and we needed a solution. Gracewell of Bath has provided this. The staff are all superheroes in my opinion. There’s always a welcoming smile when entering the building. The staff are professional, kind and caring and frequently go the
extra mile when dealing with residents. They are like an extended family! My relatives had differing needs but Gracewell can accommodate this with floors for Residential, Memory Care and Medical needs and transition between floors is facilitated when it becomes necessary. If problems arise (which they do occasionally) they are dealt with professionally and efficiently. The rooms are light and airy and all very similar. I cannot thank Gracewell enough for their support and kindness.

My bed-bound father's previous care home announced mid-October that they were closing and I needed to find an alternative home for him. I had already heard good things about Gracewell of Bath so immediately phoned them and spoke to the Admissions Manager. She, and her team, worked tirelessly to ensure
a smooth transition for my father, liaising with me as well as the previous care home. She made what could have been a very stressful time for both me and my father, as easy as possible. Since his admission, he has settled in well, his room is large with plenty of natural light, and my father says the bed is extremely comfortable and he enjoys the food! The staff are always kind and caring towards him, and it is a great relief for me to know he is well looked after. The home installed a direct phone line to my father's room, which makes contacting him easy, even more, important now that we are back in lockdown.

The health measures in place at Gracewell to ensure safe passage of residents are stringent and, as such, provide much reassurance.
From the moment mum set foot over the threshold, she has wanted for nothing. Staff have all been so kind and attentive and have answered all our queries with speed, as
well as keeping us up-to-date every step of the way.
It would be no exaggeration to say that Mum is now feeling the most secure she has felt in months and we can all sleep well at night knowing she is in good hands.

Both my grandparents had been living at Gracewell for the last couple of years.
All the staff at Gracewell have been fantastic throughout - always smiling and available to help.
I know they looked after both grandparents so well throughout their time there. Always working so hard to make sure they
were as comfortable as possible, they were very accommodating.
The place was always clean, there were always people about ready to help if needed, or popping by with some tea or a snack.
With the last couple of months being that much extra complicated, what with Covid-19, the staff at the home were careful and had made so many extra sacrifices and working extra hard, also giving my family regular updates, and passing on emails and photos sent through to Grandpa.
I can't thank them enough.

My dad arrived at Gracewell just before the country was locked down with Coronavirus. Extremely difficult circumstances for the home to function in, but the staff are exceptional, always going the extra mile to ensure that residents stay happy and healthy. As you'd expect in such a well-organised home,
even when the situation called for tighter lockdown, PPE was readily available and staff made sure they spent time chatting with my dad, ensuring he felt loved and safe. When he received an end of life diagnosis, we were allowed to visit, within limitations, and full PPE was provided each time. The staff are exceptional, well trained, caring, thoughtful - my dad called them his extended family, that's how much they meant to him and to us. And this was after a period of only three months. At the end, we were allowed to be with him (in full PPE) and he was treated with respect, dignity and love and had a very peaceful death. I can't thank the staff enough and would recommend this home to anyone.

Gracewell is not really like a care home, it’s more like a family retreat for people who need some extra help in their latter years. The facilities are excellent as too are all the staff, which includes management, carers, chefs and housekeeping. I would highly recommend Gracewell to anyone having to
make life a bit easier for a loved one. You won’t be disappointed. They all have gone that extra mile during lockdown and I have the utmost respect for the team.

My dear friend, at 102-years-old, had decided that she could no longer look after herself at home. So she chose Gracewell on our first visit. After she moved in, in September 2019, she became very unwell for three months, but due to the loving care and professional and medical support she received from
Gracewell staff, she improved and is now well and very happy in her new home. They have made her remaining years a positive outlook for her. The staff go beyond what is expected of them and the catering staff bend over backwards to ensure each resident has a meal which they will enjoy. They cater to each individual's need.
Reply from Carol Britton, General Manager at Rush Hill MewsOur dining team will be thrilled with your lovely comments. Here at Gracewell of Bath, we cater to each resident based on preferences and dietary requirements. Hearing this positive feedback is greatly appreciated by everyone in the home.

All aspects of the home were excellent from the welcome to the exit. The staff took time to get to know my father and family and were interested in his life and him as a person.
His stay was sadly very short but he received excellent personalised care and the staff were very thoughtful and respectful.

Gracewell of Bath has given my father the extra care and support my sisters and I were hoping for. Dad was one of the first residents in 2017 and the carers have been lovely in getting to know him and his ways very well and helping him feel valued and content in his late 90's. He particularly enjoyed
the good food and the beautiful garden. In dad's last few days he was given the medication and care needed by sensitive and experienced staff to ensure he died peacefully and with dignity. The staff also gave us, his family, care and support at such a difficult time.

My lovely Aunt came to Gracewell the day after it opened last year, 2017. Every time I visit her I am impressed by the staff, their courtesy, care and consideration are exemplary. I was lucky enough to attend on the afternoon of their 1st-year birthday party in April. The staff were happy and obviously
proud of the achievement of their first year. They treat all the residents with patience, calmness and respect at all times.
Whenever I come to see my Aunt I am always offered a drink and something to eat if I wish. My need for glasses of water is becoming legendary. I find the building attractive, welcoming and in good condition at all times.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.826)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.826) out of 10 for Rush Hill Mews is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.826 for Rush Hill Mews is calculated as follows: ( (279 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 328 Ratings = 4.826
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rush Hill Mews is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

In this role, it’s important to lead by example and to keep a calm head. Knowledge and experience are important, I started out as a carer and worked my way up, so I know the challenges faced by my team.

Care UK’s ethos of care, which puts residents at the heart of everything, echoes my own values. The organisation also offers superb training and development opportunities so that colleagues can learn and progress in their careers.

I am focused on continuous improvement and have worked on a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for people with dementia, including using technology to promote health and wellbeing. I’m looking forward to supporting the team at Rush Hill Mews to achieve outstanding levels of care.
