Overall Experience
We love the concept of Gracewell. It is bright and modern with large well equipped en-suite bedrooms.
Our 96-year-old friend joined for 4 weeks respite care and has now joined up for permanent residency. All the office, medical, carers and house staff are very approachable and all have smiley faces and are clearly there as they enjoy the work.
There are a host of daily clubs and activities to participate in if you wish and lovely quiet areas if you want to get away from it.

There are speciality functions and rooms for hairdressing, beauty, cinema and activities. We are looking forward to joining our friend in the lovely dining room sometime. We are made most welcome when we visit including our little highland terrier who cheers up our friend.

Overall Experience

Dad moved into Gracewell of Bookham in early October after a year of poor health, which was sudden and traumatic. The realisation that he could no longer cope on his own was difficult for all of us, especially hard for Dad to accept. From the first day he was put at ease, made to feel extremely welcome and he has settled in completely now. The care is exemplary and Dad has recovered his physical strength from good, nutritious food and the right care to ensure he is drinking properly and taking the right medication. But the amazing part is that all the staff, including reception, management, carers, housekeeping and maintenance, are just so friendly and caring, all respecting Dad's dignity and desire to be as active as possible. This has made him feel part of a true home. He feels he has friends caring for him, not just as their job, but to have fun with - the carers even play scrabble with him in the evenings if they have time and that is an added bonus that means a lot.

An excellent care home with excellent staff at all levels. Welcoming, reception staff all helpful, kind and considerate. Dementia floor quite exceptional with extremely caring and dedicated staff who are patient, kind and understanding of all residents' needs with dignity.

Rooms are maintained to a high standard. Food requirements are always considered.

A complete feeling of safety for residents. Activities are well run and all residents considered. Management are excellent, which is creating a wonderful work ethos for employees.

Overall Experience

Within a week of my mum moving in there was a great improvement her mood. The kindness, warmth and professionalism of all the staff from the home manager to the support staff was obvious. From the start Mum just looked more relaxed and happy than she had for a while. The whole atmosphere of the home was one of the positivity and 'can do' attitude.

Jagpal Singh
Jagpal SinghJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2016

I’m an experienced home manager, and I joined Care UK from another big care provider in 2016. I wanted to be part of a more proactive company that would help me achieve my goals. Care UK has a very good reputation and is well known for caring as much for its colleagues as its residents.

I believe that, as a home manager, you’re as good as your team. That’s why I always make sure I’m giving colleagues the support they need to do their jobs well. I love walking around the home, checking in with them and the residents. It’s wonderful when residents take the time to sit and chat to me and share what they’ve been doing that day.

Georgie Wilkins
Georgie WilkinsJob Title:Customer Relations ManagerJoined: 2021

I’m Georgie Wilkins, and I’ve been working as a Customer Relations Manager with Care UK for the past 5 years.

I’m really passionate about supporting people and being there for families when they’re making such important decisions about care. I understand how emotional and sometimes overwhelming the journey can feel, so I always try to make things as simple, clear and reassuring as possible.

For me, it’s all about building genuine relationships. I take the time to listen, understand what matters most, and make sure every person feels heard, valued and comfortable. I want families to feel supported from that very first conversation and to know they can always come to me with any questions or worries.

I’d describe myself as warm, approachable and understanding, and I pride myself on creating a friendly, welcoming experience for everyone I meet. It’s important to me that people feel at ease and confident in the choices they’re making.

Being part of Care UK means a lot to me, and I’m proud to work alongside such a supportive team to help create a place where residents truly feel at home.
