Our mother, who has Alzheimer’s, has been a resident of Baycroft since almost the day it opened, in 2017. The facilities are excellent and the care that she receives is compassionate and dedicated. The food is good and Mum is very content, although she chooses not to participate in the activities on offer. We are happy that she is being well cared-for. Two years ago we moved my father (no dementia but terminally ill) into Baycroft for ‘end of life’ care. He was there for two weeks before he died, and again his care was very good. We do find, however, that communication between the home and residents' families leaves something to be desired. The management team has had multiple changes over the time Mum has been there, which is continuing, and it is often difficult to find out who to talk to about Mum. This has been exacerbated by the pandemic and the multiple lockdowns imposed by public health regulations.

My lovely mum has been in Baycroft Grays Farm since September 2021.
I cannot thank the staff enough for looking after my mum! I have great peace of mind knowing that Mum is getting the best care and being well looked after by all the staff and management.
Baycroft's Facebook page is brilliant. The regular emails of activities for the week to family members are good!
Due to my long journey to see Mum, I stay for about 3 to 4 hours, so I do get a good insight into the care and attention given to the residents!

The food is lovely, the activities are fun, the facilities are very nice; Mum’s room is lovely, the gardens and surroundings are very nice and well-maintained, and most of all, the staff and management are brilliant!

Our mother has been a resident at Baycroft for the last four and a half years, and we have always been very pleased with her care. The carers, nurses and all staff treat her with dignity and respect. She is happy and settled. The activities are excellent, and Mum enjoys these.

Since my father moved into Baycroft in April 2021, he has had nothing but excellent care. As the home has been able to ease on Covid restrictions, the feeling of normality has added to an already lovely atmosphere whenever I visit. The activities organised are wonderful and varied. The activities coordinator has even got my father doing activities I never thought I would see, and he thoroughly enjoys them. This weekend was his birthday, and thanks to the great Baycroft kitchen staff, family were able to enjoy an excellent afternoon tea along with other residents. My father enjoyed it greatly. Thank you, especially, to the activities coordinator who came in on a Sunday to ‘decorate’ Dad’s room with banners and balloons. Would not hesitate in recommending Baycroft to anyone and have never regretted the decision to choose it for the care Dad so desperately needed.

Very friendly and professional, caring team that took care of Mother during her muscular rehab following surgery, and the whole facility is first class. The activities that people can take part in, helps them socialise and feel comfortable, and on our visits, we saw Mum making sup cakes and she has also been doing potting plants in the gardening workshop, which was great.

Our father has been at Baycroft Grays Farm Road since February and we have found the home to be very attentive and caring, especially in the quality and consideration of its staff. Dad is very happy there and our family is also happy with this and the personalised care they have tailored for him. Dad has a very good rapport with many of the staff which for me shows that he has regular contact. We really were touched by the cakes, bunting, balloons and attention to detail for dad's onsite and outside birthday party. The staff also take dad to local medical appointments when we can't, which is reassuring. We really appreciate the zoom calls and online correspondence we receive to keep us in the loop on things happening at the care home generally such as events, Covid-19 and maintenance. Of course, the surroundings are gorgeous and dad really likes that too and is looking forward to more events as we move beyond Covid-19. Thank you Baycroft Grays Farm Road, with thanks.

On my visits to this home it was very apparent that there was very little interaction between the carers and residents. The TV is on, but as the residents are seated facing each other with the TV on the other wall they cannot follow what is going on. They were getting bored and fractious, and, there was no attempt to engage with them which was resulting in some getting upset and making others agitated.

For a home that is supposed to be specialising in dementia care, it was poor care that I observed. The building is luxurious but I think the care is lacking.

The impression I got when you drive into the car park of Baycroft was very impressive and the cleaning standards and decoration within the home are of a very good standard. However, whenever I visited my friend who is a very kind man, there was never any staff around to ask questions and on numerous occasions, whenever I used the telephone provided in the guests' meeting room on the 1st floor, to notify the staff that I was leaving, more often than not, the phone would often ring for 10 minutes before being answered. In my professional opinion, the home is understaffed.

Unfortunately, when I chose Baycroft I ignored the CQC rating which said the home was poorly led. This home is poorly led and the care is affected because of this. This home is not geared to properly care for people with dementia and care plans are not followed because it would appear they are not communicated to staff.

Do not just look at the decor. When you visit this home, things are not as they seem.

My mother was very apprehensive about going into a care home, but in less than a day, she was the happiest we had seen her in a long time. Baycroft Grays Farm is a superb example of residential care. From my experience so far with the home, all staff are completely committed to giving my dear mum the care and attention she would want, and definitely what she needs.
The home not only looks amazing aesthetically but is amazing in its care for its residents.
There are plenty of activities, pamper days, a cinema, good food, beautiful gardens, hotel standard rooms, but the most outstanding feature is the staff, and in my experience with care homes, this is the most essential thing.

I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone whose loved one needs care.

We were so impressed with Baycroft back in February 2019 when we first visited and have been pleased and impressed since. The care is good and all the staff are lovely. Our very dear friend is so well looked after and she is extremely happy and content. Any medical problems are dealt with promptly and instructions carried out. Nothing is too much trouble. Baycroft is like a five-star hotel. All the areas are beautifully equipped and kept so very well. I would highly recommend.

Having been a resident here for seven days my first impressions are excellent. I find the staff, carers, nurses, cleaners all very helpful and polite. The food is variable and generally very tasty, well presented.
Because of the few number of residents, it is not easy to make new friends but it is nice to sit with fellow residents in the dining area.

The 'wet room' and shower are an excellent facility and ensuite washing and toilet facilities acceptable.

Baycroft Grays Farm Road Care Home is a beautiful care home, from the actual building, decor, gardens, restaurants - outstanding. We were made very welcome from our very first visit and since joining up, the staff and management have been incredibly supportive, attentive and caring

The cleaners go above and beyond. Couldn't feel more confident that my loved one is cared for when I'm not around. The little extra touches i.e. hairdresser, chiropodist, papers and activities make such a difference. Feel confident in sending your family here.

It was a difficult decision to place our mother in a residential home as she was fiercely independent but after several falls and potentially serious accidents at home, it was clear that she could not remain living by herself. We chose Baycroft Grays Farm Road because of its close location to my brother. Our mother was initially quite difficult and resistant but through the patient and caring support given to her by the Baycroft staff, she eventually settled down and now seems quite relaxed and content. I suppose our only gripe is the cost, but good things always cost more. Overall we are very happy with the decision to put our mother in Baycroft and it is a great relief to us to know that she is being cared for professionally.

It was a difficult time when my sister and I needed Mum to have residential care, as no matter what support she had at home -it wasn’t working. From the first contact we had with Baycroft, during her admission when she was upset and until now, I cannot thank the Staff enough for caring so well for my Mum! She is now settled, happy and although she doesn’t join in much of the many activities on offer she is always encouraged to do so. Her birthday celebrations given by Baycroft were better than she had for a few years! We cannot thank you enough.

It's such an emotional time when you realise your mother needs to go into care. The responsibility to choose the right home is enormous and you're not sure what questions to ask. From the very first phone call, the staff have been knowledgeable, supportive, open and very patient. I was particularly impressed by the honesty displayed, particularly when asking questions relating to the CQC report.
I chose Baycroft because the care is exemplary and tailored to individual needs e.g. Mum doesn't need any mobility aids in the bathroom, so they were all removed before her arrival.
The staff are all lovely; they helped Mum to settle very quickly and genuinely care about her. Baycroft feels part of our extended family.
Baycroft isn't cheap, but it wasn't the most expensive home I looked at. All services such as hairdressing and chiropody are included, which is most unusual.

If I have to go into care, this is definitely where I want to come.

My uncle, who has Alzheimer’s, moved into the home in January 2020. We chose the home because when we first visited the staff were all very friendly and more importantly the residents we saw all had smiles on their faces. My uncle looks so much better than he did before he went in. It is clear that he enjoys the regular activities, especially if they involve cakes and a tipple like on VE Day.
