Baycroft Great Baddow is akin to a four, if not five-star hotel. The building, furnishing, equipment and catering are superb. Care staff and nursing are excellent, they really care.

I spent a fortnight at the home. The care and dignity I get from the staff and management was all you could ask for I would have no hesitation in recommending it to my friends and family.

I was a resident at Baycroft Great Baddow for two weeks before Christmas 2018 after major foot surgery which required me to have my foot raised above my heart for two weeks and with only 5/10 minutes of mobility per hour. (Toes above my nose) so I was effectively bed-ridden for two weeks. The carers
and nurses and all staff at Baycroft made this an excellent time (and bearable for me) with very good care, a very good safe environment with delicious food. All aspects that I needed were looked after such as clothes washing. I didn't have to worry about anything. This made the perfect recovery for the first two weeks when I then came home as I was then allowed to mobilise more. Many thanks to everyone at Baycroft.

Mum has been a resident of Baycroft Great Baddow now for 6 months.
The home has many positives. A very high standard of living accommodation with most attractively appointed rooms, public areas, gardens. The staff are friendly and caring and the home has a very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere.
But,
the major, major problem is the excessive waiting time for care assistance.
For Mum, who is totally immobile, waits of, on occasions, 45 - 90 minutes for assistance with toileting is distressing, uncomfortable and unacceptable.
A main cause of this seems to be inadequate staffing numbers, high turnover and hence pressure on existing staff.
In this respect, Baycroft does not live up to its 'luxury billing'.

From the moment Mum entered Baycroft the staff have carefully monitored and assessed her needs.
All the staff are friendly and caring and keen 'to get it right' individually for Mum.
Knowing that she is well cared for and stimulated throughout the day with activities is a huge relief and the atmosphere
within the home enables us to enjoy being a family.

It is so lovely to see how happy my mother-in-law is at Baycroft. The staff are so friendly and there seems to be so much going on regarding activities, visits etc. The food is lovely and always nicely presented. The rooms are cosy and beautifully decorated.

This is a beautiful new home in a semi-rural setting. It has lots of facilities and resembles a 5-star hotel with light, airy and beautifully decorated rooms. The staff and management go out of their way to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience and are cared for in a professional and

Easy access out of town situated. Entrance - very welcome - bright and clean.
Staff - came forward immediately to help us as it was 1st visit as relative recently joined the home.
Extremely clean, very efficient staff, no need to look for someone - always staff ready to help.
Excellent with patients
- lots of time, patience, so friendly using the patient name. Home radiated peace content, loving care really meant.

My mother-in-law has been at Baycroft since February this year. It has been a difficult year for her as both her husband and sister died within a few months of each other. She is wheelchair bound and so totally dependent on the carers to do most things for her. I live in Canada and so cannot be much
help to her and so we really have come to depend on the support of the staff who have been so kind and helpful. It took my mother-in-law some time to settle in knowing that her home of 50 years has been sold on top of everything else wasn't easy but she does appreciate the support and company she now has. I also appreciate the regular emails that I get from the staff nurse letting me know how things are. Thank you.

All staff were welcoming, however, I feel this home is very new as are the staff, and many people are still finding their way.
Mum was only in for a two week respite, as she has vascular dementia. She doesn't appear to have taken part in the planned activities, as during various visits by members
of my mums family, she was either laying on bed or sitting in the lounge, I know it's her choice to join in, and these were ad hoc visits, but it doesn't appear she was encouraged to.
Many tick box exercises that they don't follow through, i.e. when we arrived, two staff carried out a full inventory check of belongings, we apologised that we hadn't labelled her clothes, but advised don't worry they would do it. After her stay, advised all bags packed, and she had everything, when unpacking found a number of items missing, contacted the team on the day and they are looking into it, still waiting. Nothing was labelled.
The place has lots of potential but I don't feel they are there yet.

My father suffers with dementia and my when my mother could no longer look after him I looked at various care homes in the area for respite care. On visiting Baycroft I immediately felt that my father could be happy there and his initial two week respite has now become permanent.
The staff are all
very caring, patient, thoughtful and treat my father with dignity. Baycroft is similar to a luxury hotel and furnished accordingly. The only thing I would say is that the seating in the lounge area is not easy for elderly people to get up from, however, there is always someone there to lend a hand and assist. I am really pleased I chose Baycroft.

Physically this home attracts the observer because so much thought and care has been given to the building and decoration. It is indeed a luxury building. However, it is the staff who create the ambience which greets you as you enter.


I cannot find the appropriate words to express my gratitude for

the respect, consideration and general attentiveness which is given to all patients at all times and without exception. A very happy staff who are never off duty. I don't ask for assistance, the staff ask me what they can do to help. Without reservation, I recommend Baycroft Great Baddow.
