1. Staff kind and helpful, willing to 'go the extra mile'.

2. Room - cushions would be better with 50% of the stuffing removed. They are too full and too hard. (Scatter cushions)

We were initially looking for somewhere for my mum to stay for a couple of weeks respite whilst my wife and I went on Honeymoon, and we were extremely pleased with the reception and care she received.

Claremont House is well appointed and very tastefully decorated throughout. It is clear a great deal of thought and attention to detail has been applied to the layout, and all of the rooms and public places are generously proportioned.

The care the residents receive can only be considered first rate, and the food (according to my Mum) is excellent. The staff are always welcoming, and care deeply for their charges.

There are activities on a daily basis, and our two small daughters are always invited to assist whenever they visit, much to the obvious pleasure of the residents.

My Mum is most enamoured with the home, the residents and most especially, the care personnel who look after everyone. She simply loves it, and is delighted to be there.

My husband and I are full-time carers for my 97-year-old mum, who has moderate dementia. When I fell and fractured my ankle we were unsure as to how we would cope. I contacted Claremont House to ask if they could help in any way. The manager assured me she would contact me when she made enquiries she called back in five minutes to say a room would be available for mum that afternoon .....that's service

As the policy is not to use names I won't, but each member of staff that cared for mum did so with understanding and compassion, keeping her safe when she became challenging, and calm when bewildered by her new environment. Keeping me informed when mum didn't eat very much, and contacting the GP to request some build up foods to help her.

Tea, cakes and hugs were in abundance, even a reassuring hug to me a weepy daughter on leaving mum. The decor and rooms are beautiful, but without the first class care, these would mean nothing.

Many thanks.

Claremont House is a beautiful residential home, with lovely facilities, importantly for our family, it made it extremely easy for our family to spend time with Mum there.

The staff care team on the 1st floor were absolutely fantastic, looking after and caring for Mum and reassuring the family. This extended to the catering staff, domestic staff and management who always took time to chat with Mum and the family.

It is not an easy decision to choose residential accommodation however for us this was a very good decision.

I was admitted to Claremount after spending 2 weeks in the hospital with viral pneumonia for a 2-week admission of antibiotics and continuous oxygen. I was in a 6 bedded bay, 4 beds of which were occupied by 60-94-year-olds and 2 by teenagers. We became friends and each of us were treated with respect and consideration by all staff, especially the nursing teams. Being a Parkinson's disease sufferer, I need medication at all hours, out of routine time and rarely had to remind staff of this requirement. Being a stranger to hull I can only say a sincere thank you for all the care given to myself and my family.

My mother spent two weeks in respite care at Claremont House in September 2017. She had a large, light and comfortable room on the ground floor and was impressed with the care and attention she received from the staff. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful; teas and coffees were available at any time and as often as she wished and meals were plentiful and varied. As a result of her experience, in particular, the staff who looked after her, she has now decided to leave her sheltered flat and to move to Claremont House permanently. She is looking forward to moving into the same room and to have a more relaxing time.

Everything a "care home" should be. Comfortable accommodation, with any needed medical help from outside, be it doctor, nurse or physiotherapy contacted immediately. Staff are most helpful - all friendly and willing to help. Food is of a good standard and plenty of it. A great place to retire to or recover from injury.

I cannot praise Claremont House enough for the fantastic service and care whilst my father has been in residence. Five star care in five star surroundings. What more could you ask for. The staff are wonderful and give you great confidence in their abilities. Claremont House exceeded my expectations and I am so glad we chose it for my father who deserves the very best in his twilight years. Thank you so much for looking after him so well.

My husband was in respite care for nearly two weeks after two weeks in hospital, where he was treated for an abscess in the mouth, had a tooth removed and was struggling with vascular dementia with some Alzheimer's. We found the home very satisfactory, but he died on August 29th.

We were sorry he lost his watch and some items of clothing, but the open door policy in rooms was to blame.

We were very happy with the way that they treated him and looked after him.

Enjoyed my time there as surroundings very pleasant. Staff all very good but the food left a lot to be desired, comfortable and clean. Staff all work hard and long hours, it must be tiring but always cheerful. Could do with more staff, as telephone and buzzers can be ringing for ages before being answered.

My daughter, who is crippled with MS arrived at Claremont thin and gaunt and could hardly feed herself. She went home much better because of the excellent care and food (an excellent cook), but at only 57 years old, was pleased to see her own home again, with carers, understandably.

Whilst my mum has only been in the care home for a few weeks she has settled into life there very quickly which is a great compliment to all of the staff who we have found to be so helpful in helping her during what has been a difficult transition from living in her own home.

We needed emergency respite so I phoned Claremont House on Sunday, an assessment was carried out on the Monday and mum arrived on Tuesday. The home is bright, airy and tastefully furnished but being a new purpose built building, I would have expected this. Senior staff on Wessex who I have had contact with are experienced in their field and quickly seemed to understand my mother which gave me confidence and peace of mind. The junior carers showed great empathy and understanding both to my mother and other residents. I visited nearly every day at various times of the day and evening and never once saw anything I was not happy about. Not in a million years would I have expected my mother to settle in a care home like she did. Her anxiety and agitation were far less than they had been; there was always something or someone for her to engage with. She is returning for respite 1 week in every 4 which is a true testimony to the fact that both of us are happy with the care she is receiving.

My mother moved into Claremont House about four weeks ago. The staff have been so lovely and kind to my mum treating her with care, compassion, dignity, respect and awareness to not only her personal needs but also to her mental wellbeing.

The small details have not gone unnoticed by me. As an example, making sure her nails are clean, just sitting having a chat about the past or doing a puzzle with her, along with the big ones to help my Mum settle into her new environment.

We have had a positive and supportive experience with every member of staff which if you are looking for a care home for your loved one, I hope this review has helped you to consider Claremont House. No appointment is required to have a look around, just turn up.

The excellent care that my frail mother has received to date, matches the excellent facilities at Claremont House. My mother is treated as an individual; her needs and preferences are consistently accommodated and all of the staff treat her with friendly warmth, kindness, respect and dignity. Visitors are warmly welcomed at any time to my mother's new "home" (free drinks and cake are offered also). Claremont House lives up to its name as a Care Home; the care is excellent, home is where my mother is happy, well looked after and at ease, and family members are welcomed. The staff, the food and the facilities are outstanding. This is an exemplary care home. I am so relieved and truly grateful that my mother is here.

As the full time carer of my partner I was faced with a dilemma when told, and given a date, for a hip replacement.
I did a lot of research and visits and chose Claremont House. My choice was based on safety, professionalism, security and quality of staff and care.
I met with several members of staff in a temporary office when the home was nearing completion. They filled me with confidence and I managed to change the date of my operation so as to enable him to have respite care at Claremont.
I couldn't have made a better choice.
My operation and recuperation went ahead with absolutely no problems, helped by the confidence I felt in everyone and everything at Claremont. His respite care has been seamless and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Thank you to everyone at Claremont for making my operation and recovery so much easier as I was safe in the knowledge he was so well looked after by a team of wonderful staff.
