Grampian Court Care Home, situated in the friendly town of Peterlee, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised residential and residential dementia care.

This warm, welcoming home offers a choice of several comfortable sitting rooms and dining areas, as well as its own hair and beauty salon and café. The lovely landscaped garden, which is looked after by residents and is a great place to relax in the warmer weather.

The catering team at Grampian Court understands the nutritional needs of older people and creates delicious meals which can be enjoyed in the spacious dining areas which provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

From care assistants to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is there to support residents as they settle in to life at the home. They take time to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme with something for everyone to enjoy. The team at Grampian Court (ground floor) are the most superb, dedicated, conscientious, caring and kind people I could possibly wish for to look after my dad. Everyone goes out of their way to make us feel welcome at the home. They give my dad a professional but personal level of care. As for the decor,
food, activities - they are second to none. The entire team has made it so much easier for me and my family to accept our dad is in care. They are the best and we are so grateful.

My father-in-law is 93 years old and following 2 serious operations, went into Grampian Court as a temporary resident whilst he recovered. Prior to his operations, he lived on his own and was very independent.
The care, support, encouragement and kindness he was shown by all the staff at Grampian
Court was amazing. They always went beyond what was requested without being patronising. They allowed him to be as independent as he wanted but helped him be realistic. They were "family" not carers.

The home is scrupulously clean. Staff are friendly and caring. My friend is treated respectfully with dignity and is listened to. The meals are very good and arranged nicely on the plate. My friend is very satisfied with her care and so am I.

From the moment I walked in, this home was welcoming, very clean and cheery. The décor is lovely, the staff are friendly and caring. There was a lovely atmosphere and everyone was well cared for. Very impressed.

Beautiful establishment. Staff very polite and helpful, not only to the residents but to family, friends and visitors. Always first name terms and staff very caring. Rooms well equipped, beautifully kept, allowing personal items to make the room personal to the resident (excellent home).

My mother-in-law was 89 years old and was very reluctant to give her home up when her health began to fail. She went to Grampian for respite and was very surprised to enjoy the experience. The home itself is outstanding for cleanliness and care is given to everyone.
Food is fabulous and it has an
excellent atmosphere. Can't praise the staff and management enough. Also, it does not smell of old age!

My mum was in another care home. We decided to move her because the care she was getting was not good and one carer bullied her. Since she has been in Grampian Court Care Home, she is a different person. She eats well, sits in the sitting room and not in her own room left alone, she is clean and tidy
and I have peace of mind knowing she is being looked after.

This home is first class. It's overall appearance when you first enter is brilliant. The rooms are outstanding.
The carers are excellent and have time for everyone.

Since my father has been a resident of Grampian Court from September 2018. He has flourished. The care he has received is excellent. The meals are varied and well presented. Staff are polite and helpful. Grampian Court has a lovely warm friendly atmosphere.

The staff are wonderful with residents, nothing is too much trouble to them.

An excellent care home with such kind, friendly staff. They took time to explain all aspects of the care home to all of us family and resident. Emma Hume

Job Title: Home Manager

“For me, kind care is creating a homely environment where everyone feels respected, comfortable and content.”


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Emma has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked for HC-One for many years, Emma closely shares the company’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Grampian Court.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Emma remarked:


“I just love that no two days are ever the same, every day can be a new experience.”


Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending quality time with her two children, family and friends.
