My friend was isolated in her own home. Since making the decision to move to Nelson Lodge she has gained a new group of friends, has company, feels safe and has a newfound zest for life. The care staff work so hard, very friendly nothing is too much trouble. The activities have improved this past month, the manager always has time for a chat and their team work hard to constantly strive to evolve and grow. The receptionist is so welcoming and the home always has a good feel about it, lots of laughter, singing and dancing.

My mum has settled in very well. She loves it and it's the best thing she has done in a while. She gets great support and care. The food is superb (so she says).
She has a laugh with all carers and loves a chat.

My family are always made welcome and the staff are very friendly.

I have worked as a carer in care homes and find Nelson Lodge to be generally very good. Staff are always friendly and helpful but the resident I visit would like to see the same faces all the time realistically we know this is not possible, everyone is entitled to a day off. The food is very good but sometimes it's not to the resident's personal taste which is why it is marked down. Value for money, resident think it's expensive but I have worked in more expensive homes. As with all new experiences, there is a learning curve for residents and staff alike, the aim should be to meet halfway this being done successfully. I am no longer in the care industry due to retirement.

Mum came to Nelson Lodge for respite care for three weeks. Having been before for respite Mum looked forward to returning and was not disappointed in any way. The accommodation met her needs and the team moved items/bed to suit her - and were happy to do so. The food was of a high standard and was adapted with ease to suit her dietary needs. The care staff are amazing, happy, helpful and very caring. Well managed and missed when not there. Mum is looking forward to returning.

My grandfather stayed at Nelson Lodge for respite. As a nurse, I immediately felt comfortable that the management was competent and knowledgable and the care staff so kind and caring. My grandfather loved his stay and felt at home. We will certainly be using the home again in May this year. The home has a warm, friendly feel to it, and nothing was too much trouble, and everyone always had a smile on their faces. Highly recommended.

My father has been treated with dignity and respect. The staff always take the time to listen and ensure my father is included in the activities that he likes, particularly the nights in the pub with dominoes and cards. The food is good, and you can always order off the menu if you do not like the choices. Always a lovely, warm welcome. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

As a full-time carer for my husband for ten years, I needed respite to visit my family in Australia. This has been the first time my husband decided to experience care in a residential care home rather than care at home. He has been much happier in Nelson Lodge, more stimulated and cannot praise the care enough. He has felt very safe and valued. He is prepared to arrange another date for him to come in when I require further respite. We cannot praise Nelson Lodge and the carers enough for the care given to him as a temporary resident.

The staff at Nelson Lodge are very caring and friendly and helped my nan settle in and feel at ease very quickly.
Any changes in care needs were communicated with me, and I felt very assured that my nan's wishes were listened to and her needs were met.
Great management team, and nothing was too much to ask for.

Thanks again for the care received.

My Grandma has been in the home for about six months. It was a very tough decision but we couldn't have been in better hands. Everyone is so kind and it shows they care about the people they look after. The carers are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The process of moving Grandma into the home was made so much better by the office staff and from the first phone call, we knew as a family this was going to be the right place. Grandma enjoys the home and especially the live entertainment and is very happy which is the most important thing for us as a family.

My nan has been at Nelson Lodge for twelve months, in this time she has thrived, so much healthier and happier. The staff go above and beyond and nothing is too much trouble. The manager is experienced and focused on the home being person centred. I would recommend the home to any of my family or friends.

On the whole, it was a good experience. Mum was looked after well and the staff were helpful and cheerful. After a few weeks of rest and relaxation, Mum had improved a lot and her back pain had subsided. She enjoyed seeing the carers and having a chat and also having her meals with others. We would definitely use it again when necessary.

I had to get my mum into care after losing my Dad suddenly last April.
She has been at Nelson Lodge just over a year and from day one the care she has had has been amazing. The staff have been so understanding to her needs - as well as mine.
I cannot thank them enough for looking after her, and me.

I would highly recommend Nelson Lodge to anyone.

My sister and I were worried about moving mum to Nelson Lodge from a different care home. However, the process was made smooth and easy by the excellent staff there. All the carers have been exceptionally kind to Mum and helped her settle in. Their facilities are excellent and management of visits easy and welcoming. I wish we had moved mum into Nelson Lodge at the start of her care home life. Thank you, everyone!

I have worked in both the charity and care sectors for over 30 years. My experience includes 15 years with MENCAP as a Registered Home Manager. I then joined Leonard Cheshire as a Quality Manager.

I love the care sector, and I am very passionate about care and its delivery. I have lived in St Neots for over 20 years, and I see strengthening the relationships Nelson Lodge has with their local community as a vital part of my new role. I’m keen to support our residents’ connections with our local community. I’m passionate about introducing students and young people into the care profession, where I started a programme for Health and Social Care undergraduates at a local college.

In my spare time, I enjoy touring the UK with my much-loved caravan and spending time with my family and my gorgeous Granddaughter.
