Excellent overall, a good manager who leads well, proactive staff very caring, friendly and helpful. Good relations with relatives from the staff and manager. Clean areas and good food.

The manager listens to any concerns and works very hard as do all the staff. Excellent environment for relatives and clients.

Beautiful place to stay as a permanent resident.
Very caring, friendly staff who looked after Dad very well.
Food excellent, healthy, made with care.
Always contacted if there was a problem with Dad's health.

Used to get frustrated as I was often unable to get through Dad by telephone even by his phone or the home phone.

A friendly and caring attitude throughout. Staff work hard to make us feel special. They work well together.
The general impression is that of a good hotel with the limitations imposed by the varied residents.
Because of the size and number of residents, it does mean that food sometimes arrives late and needs modifying by carers delivering it to us.

A lot depends on the chef on duty.

As I have cared for my wife in the last two years, I understand the day to day commitment that the care staff at Buchanan Court face. The care staff and teams provide and offer a great service. You can see they enjoy their roles and are happy to assist. You would never receive treatment like this in hospital.
You can have a choice of meals which are healthy and tasty; I was even able to visit family for the afternoon to enjoy a family lunch.

I found the home to be very clean and tidy, with domestic staff cleaning my room daily. It is definitely a five-star service.

Anyone considering a respite stay, perhaps for the first time and worried about reactions, should come and visit. As you walk through the door the feeling is of a luxurious hotel – lovely armchairs in an open café area, carpets, modern and fresh decor. The residents are awake and bright. The home is purpose-built so functionality has been considered from scratch; the bedrooms are large and the beds very comfortable, the bathrooms exceptionally well designed and spacious and the ground floor rooms have private patio areas, or you can walk round to the garden. There's a cinema and a pretend pub, as well as the residents' lounge. The dining room is set with tablecloths and proper china. No one could possibly feel they are being parked away here – it's like a holiday for my relative as well as family carers. Of course, all this applies to long-term residents too; there is no feeling of confinement or control, just support, all day and all night. I don't think this could be bettered.

Buchanan Court for the elderly is a superb environment both for their mental and physical wellbeing. Lovely surroundings. Excellent staff and the receptionist is a true professional both in her manner and excellent communication providing updates on situations and advice on questions that need answering. She is a lovely young woman who is a credit to the care home.

I don't need 200 words - just a few covers everything. I was poorly after my op but found all staff very caring and aware of my situation. They made me feel important and were excellent in giving me the utmost help in every respect - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you!

Meet the Team (1)

Laurentiu Iordachescu
Laurentiu IordachescuJob Title:Home Manager

Welcome to Buchanan Court. My background is in nursing. In fact, I worked as a paramedic for the air ambulance for a long time, and as a unit manager in a brain injury department. When I joined Care UK, I started out as a nurse assessor and clinical lead, before progressing to be a home manager.

I’m very proud to work for Care UK – it’s one of the leading providers of older people’s care in this country and it has great systems and clear values. It also supports its colleagues to do their best work and to progress.

One of my favourite parts of my role is meeting with residents and their families and understanding their needs. I love seeing people flourishing with the person-centred care they receive from our fantastic team. Supporting them to live the life they want – that’s our ultimate goal at Care UK.

I’m personally passionate about ensuring every person we care for is happy, safe, understood and able to continue enjoying their relationships with their loved ones.

In my spare time I like to unwind by watching movies and reading books. I’m from Romania originally and, when I can, I still like to travel and experience new places, people and cultures.
