I am excited to join the exceptional and experienced team at Wandsworth Common Care Home and will bring my industry knowledge to support their outstanding levels of care, and personal touch and work with their teams striving for continued excellence.
I am a Registered Nurse with 16 years of experience in frontline healthcare and, having worked in a broad range of settings I have developed a passion for exceptional service in the care industry.
I started my career in A+E having previously worked as a multi-site quality assurance Matron at Bart’s Trust and as Site General Manager at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. More recently I have managed many nursing and specialist dementia care homes.
I look forward to meeting everyone who comes through our doors.
Having worked for eleven years in similar roles for other luxury care providers, I am thrilled to represent Avery Collection at Wandsworth Common as a Customer Liaison Manager. I have a track record of success, having taken a challenged home to its highest-ever occupancy in a previous role. As a Dementia Champion, I am also committed to helping those living with memory loss, having previously helped set up a regional Dementia Action Alliance with a local church.
Avery Collection are known as the best in terms of quality of care and quality of design, and in these areas as well as many others they are always one step ahead of other care providers. This ethos is one I share, and I am delighted to be working for the best provider in the business.
In my role, I am the first point of contact for families seeking care. I am dedicated to using my knowledge and experience to act as a guide and to help families through what can be a difficult time of life.
Avery Collection at Wandsworth Common is a truly special home, as this level of care is not usually available in such a central, accessible location. Residents will have a great range of facilities and attractions available right on their doorstep. I’m also excited to be part of such a technologically advanced, stylishly designed and luxurious home.
I started my journey in to care six years ago when I joined as a care assistant. I loved my role there and put my heart and soul into ensuring the residents were happy and enjoyed the quality of life they deserved. I was then promoted to lead carer with the responsibility of a team of 14 carers, which I continued to do for the next four years.
I would drive past Wandsworth Common every day on my way to work and thought maybe one day I may end up working there as it was closer to home. When they opened I applied as a care supervisor and was overjoyed to get the role as many people had applied. Six months later I was promoted to my current role as residential care manager and I’m loving every minute! I have a fabulous and very experienced care team around me and I also feel very supported from the management team in the home who are always go that extra mile to help and get involved. I am the type of person who will roll up my sleeves and help wherever I’m needed and knowing that all my residents are well looked after gives me a massive sense of satisfaction.
I feel extremely proud and honoured to work in such a beautiful home with a friendly atmosphere and great people.
Out of work I love to spend time with my family and friends. I have three children who have all grown up now and have their own families of which I am very proud. I also have two beautiful granddaughters, one 10 years old and one of 8 months, my family are the most important things in my life. Outside of work I love meeting with friends over a glass or two of bubbly as the perfect way to relax!
Caring has always been a big part of my life, growing up I was the main carer for a member of my family which ignited my passion for the caring profession. This lead to me study nursing at university in Romania in 2009. After gaining my qualification and practicing in Romania for a few years I moved to England in 2015. I moved initially to Derbyshire where I worked as a carer for two years. After this I was promoted to the nurse’s assistant and subsequently lead all the training for dementia carers for that business. I am extremely passionate about giving residents the best care and most fulfilling lives. In my role as dementia care manager I am committed to continuous learning and also supporting my staff to be the very best they can be.
What I love most about my role is seeing how we are able to have such a positive impact on our residents’ day to day lives and seeing the smiles on their faces is the best feeling. Avery Collection is a fantastic company to work for and I feel very supported in my role and with any ideas I have to support our residents.
Outside of work I have a passion for sport with my biggest achievement is being Romania’s National Backstroke champion in the 100m.
I have worked in Housekeeping for over 10 years in private houses and nurseries. My whole life I have been looking after people from my mother to my own family. I really feel it is at the core of what I love to do and why I am so pleased to be working in the care industry. It’s a joy to come to work every day in such a family orientated home – my second family! There is always something different happening on a daily basis in the home. As housekeeping supervisor it gives me great pleasure to see how happy the extra little things we do makes the residents day and getting positive feedback about how the work my team does helps our residents daily lives.
When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with and looking after Grandchildren, reading books, walking around London and fresh coffee!
