My husband became a resident in Lauder Lodge in Feb 2025 and although it's early days, so far so good. The food is lovely - varied and tasty and the staff are kind, caring and compassionate. I am kept well informed about my husbands care. There's a good and varied activities prog. The cafe is fab. I
looked at many care homes and L.L is streets ahead. I have already recommended L.L to a friend and she is hoping her father will become a resident soon.

Reluctantly we moved my mother into Lauder Lodge care home in January 2025. We had identified Lauder Lodge very quickly as our preferred option and have no regrets. My mother has Alzheimer's and her care has so far been second to none. She smiles, loves the staff and is very much engaged in her new
home. Mum does different activities every day and is encouraged to participate. The staff feel like family and they genuinely care about my mum. When there have been minor issues the staff have immediately dealt with these. Knowing my mum is being cared for so well is a great comfort.

My Aunt has settled well into Lauder Lodge. Her room is bright and looks out onto the secure garden where she likes to watch the birds & see the flowers come to life. All the staff are very helpful, caring, and very friendly both to my Aunt and her visitors. The staff keep in contact if she has had
a fall, had an appointment with the dentist or seen the nurse. There are a variety of activities planned each day which the residents can pick to join in. The music activities always seem to be very popular.
The only comment that my Aunt has is that the menu could be more varied. Recently the dinner menu was either curry or spicy bean burger but no plain option, for anyone who isn't good with spicy food.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Lauder LodgeThank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your feedback regarding Lauder Lodge. We're thrilled to hear that your aunt has settled in well and is enjoying the view from her room, along with the activities and the care of our dedicated staff. It's also wonderful to hear that she enjoys the music activities and that we're staying in touch with you regarding her well-being. We truly appreciate your comment regarding the menu. We understand how important it is for all residents to have a variety of meal options. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are committed to continually improving the dining experience for all residents. If you have any future concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Home Manager directly who is always happy to listen to and address any concerns directly.

I came to Lauder Lodge in the middle of January this year 2025. During the two months, I have found all the staff, including the carers and domestics staff always ready to help and so willing. The standards here are very high. The laundry is washed promptly and well ironed. The rooms are well maintained
and the menu offer a great variety. There is a real atmosphere of friendliness and loveliness. Those who visit me are also struck by the friendliness of the carers they meet at Lauder Lodge.

My mother is well cared for, and I feel that she is very safe in Lauder Lodge. Staff will keep us updated if she falls or is unwell. The staff are very kind and caring towards her, and she likes them very much. It has been difficult for her to move from her own home to the care home, and she is still
not completely settled. The rooms are very small.
Her mobility has deteriorated since moving there, she spends a lot of time sitting in a chair despite the staff encouraging her to move. Hopefully, when the weather gets better, she will be able to enjoy the garden and terrace and feel more at home. I feel that the food in the home, while delicious, could be more balanced with more salads, fruit and greens. She has put on weight, and her diabetes, which was in remission and was managed through diet for 20 years, has now become an issue, and she requires medication. I'm sure the kitchen would accommodate any requests from her, but she doesn't ask. A lower sugar menu and healthier snacks would be good to see
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Lauder LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful review. We're so glad to hear that your mother feels well cared for and safe at Lauder Lodge. Our team takes great pride in offering compassionate care and staying in close communication with families, so we’re happy to know you feel informed and supported.
We understand that transitioning into a care home can be a challenging experience, and it’s wonderful to hear that your mother is gradually developing positive relationships with our staff. We know it can take time to settle in, and we’re here to support her through this process.
We also appreciate your feedback regarding the room size and your mother's mobility. We strive to offer an environment that promotes comfort, and we are hopeful that the upcoming warmer weather will encourage her to enjoy our outdoor spaces more. Your insight is invaluable, and we will continue to encourage her mobility and well-being.
Regarding the food, we take your concerns seriously. We do our best to offer balanced meals and will certainly take your feedback on board. We'll ensure that there are more options for fruit, salads, and greens and explore creating a lower-sugar menu with healthier snack choices. Our kitchen team is always happy to accommodate specific dietary requests, and we encourage residents to let us know how we can best support their needs.
Once again, thank you for your kind words and constructive feedback. We're committed to providing the best possible care for your mother and will continue to work hard to ensure she feels comfortable and supported in her new home. Best wishes.

Overall very good, in particular the nursing care. What could be improved is the time my mum sometimes has to wait for assistance after she presses her call button. This can cause frustration, particularly if she needs to go to the bathroom, as she doesn't want to have an accident. This has led to her
trying to go to the bathroom unaided and as a result she's fallen on more than one occasion. This is a safety concern.
Another issue is the food, it's often quite high fat and I'd like to see more healthy options e.g. fruit, veg, salad. My mum's type 2 diabetes has returned since she's been in the home as she's eating far more sugar.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Lauder LodgeThank you for taking the time to leave feedback for Lauder Lodge and sharing your feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that your mum is receiving good nursing care, and we truly appreciate your recognition of our team's efforts.
We are sorry to hear about the delays in response times when your mum presses her call button, and we understand how this can be frustrating, especially when she needs assistance with using the bathroom. Safety is a top priority for us, and we are concerned about the falls that have occurred as a result. Please be assured that we will review this matter with our team to improve response times and ensure your mum's safety and comfort are better supported.
Additionally, we appreciate your comments about the food. We understand the importance of a balanced diet, especially for managing diabetes, and we take your concerns about the sugar and fat content seriously. We will review the menu and explore healthier options, including more fruits, vegetables, and salads, to better accommodate dietary needs, as we do have a balanced and nutritional menu with healthy snacks available. Could you perhaps state that meals and snacks will be reviewed with the care team to actively encourage healthier options.
Your feedback is invaluable in helping us make necessary improvements, and we are committed to ensuring that your mum's care experience is as positive and safe as possible. If you have any further concerns or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Best wishes.

Management and care staff are very pleasant and helpful. From day one, seemingly cordial and cooperative with one another. There are many appreciative comments about catering and quality of food.
My one query was - until today - was it really necessary to communicate everything through our first contact
with a specific manager (who gained our appreciation and trust) rather than go directly to the relevant floor manager. It seemed, perhaps, to add to unnecessary communication stresses for those involved, though I was never given to feel that. Congratulations! Today, I know that as from January 2025, certain tasks will change.
Thank you for the sense of welcome extended each day in Lauder Lodge.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Lauder LodgeThank you for taking the time to leave feedback for Lauder Lodge. I would like to assure you that we understand the importance of consistent and effective communication and to ensure it does not cause any stress. This feedback has been passed to the Home Manager. At Care UK we are open to all feedback whether that be positive or constructive. Please can I kindly ask you to speak with the Home Manager to ensure all your concerns are addressed. Thank you once again. Best wishes.

I recently visited Lauder Lodge with my friend to see her lovely Dad. As soon as I stepped into the building, I could feel the warmth and love. We were immediately greeted, my friend by name, at reception. Every member of staff we saw on the way met us with a smile and friendly greeting - many stopping
to ask my friend how she was. The building was cosy and clean and the ethos was enabling and positive. I was very impressed by the cafe, a lovely place to spend time with family. Lauder Lodge, and their wonderful, hard-working staff, are a credit to the company. I have told my family to book my room now!

My dad has been a resident at Lauder Lodge for 18 months. He is very settled in their care. His physical and emotional care is of a very high standard and staff are always responsive to any concerns or requests that we make. Although social activities cater in the main for the majority female resident
group, there has been an excellent outing for some gentlemen residents to a golf driving range which Dad greatly enjoyed.
Without exception, Dad is treated with courtesy and care by all carers. E.g. whenever he returns to his room from an outing or visits the cafe, he is greeted warmly with a "Welcome back!"
Lauder Lodge is a lovely, well-maintained building. Dad's room has all he needs. Most importantly, he feels safe in their care and we all appreciate that immensely.

Sadly they don't accept authority funding: have a lawyer read over the contract! Care UK was taken to task in England about this but haven't had their knuckles wrapped by the Scottish Authorities yet. They don't offer any more than basic care for dementia despite promises on the website and published
info. Lots of lovely promises on admission to the home that never come to pass once money is handed over. Some staff are wonderful, others need consistent supervision by the floor managers: the same as any nursing home out there, but it looks pretty. It's a business and the management runs it like one. they will try to move your relative out of the home when their health declines, keep this in mind if you are wanting a lifelong place for them to live. After chatting to other relatives we are all having similar issues.

From the moment I reached out to enquire about the possibility of a place communication was excellent. Lauder Lodge is a happy place to be, rooms are comfortable and clean and it feels like home not a hospital. From the assessment process to admission Mum was treated with respect, and focus was on her
care and making her feel at home. All staff are lovely and really care about her. It's a lovely place to visit, feels just like popping around to her home. The facilities are excellent, the cafe, meals, hairdressing and activities, allow residents to have a full experience within the home. Nothing is a problem and regular check-ins make sure the resident continues to have appropriate care, both physically and mentally. Having to move a loved one somewhere when they need more care is emotionally and mentally difficult, Lauder has it down to a fine art, navigating the whole process with empathy and care, can't rate the team highly enough.

From the initial first contact enquiring about Lauder Lodge, to the first show round to the assessment then finally getting my gran moved in has been beyond my expectations. It was a super difficult time and all the staff have gone above and beyond to help reassure me and keep me involved on all things
relevant to my gran. My one stand-out moment was when I was very upset the first full day as my gran had been unsettled understandably on the first night and a member of staff called me later on during her second night to reassure me she had settled in her room and was happy, to me that meant the world that she thought of me and took the time to update me. Can't thank the team enough for the last 4 weeks. We look forward to this new chapter of our family and to making happy memories at Lauder Lodge.

I looked at a few homes for my mum across Glasgow and Edinburgh - not easy. My mum had previously stayed in some mediocre care homes - emergency respite - so I knew what I didn’t want for my mum.
The day I came to visit Lauder House it blew me away. No other care home I came across felt like a pleasant
place to be, a home from home with a busy buzz about it all. Just Lovely. The manager is really down-to-earth, honest, and supportive and helped me through what is a difficult time. The staff are absolutely lovely, they really care and nothing is ever a problem - they are brilliant! My mum is settling in well and they are always looking out for her.
It’s a lovely place to visit, a lovely place to bring the grandchildren (the cafe - all the baking!) and it's a home from home for all.
Thank you for looking after my mum!

Having had to choose a care home for Mum, I couldn’t have found a better place for her to be. The staff are amazing, seeing to her every need and treat her and other residents like family. She has a lovely bedroom and ensuite which are kept very clean, the dining rooms and lounges are cosy just like
home. The activities staff keep her busy with lots of interesting things to make her day pass and there are lovely outings by minibus for her to enjoy. The meals are cooked to a very high standard with lots of choice. The staff keep me informed of any health issues, and chat to us every time we visit about how Mum is doing. There is a lovely lounge where visitors can enjoy freshly baked cakes and coffee when visiting relatives. Also a well-kept garden for residents and families.

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.720) out of 10 for Lauder Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 35 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.720 for Lauder Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (318 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 407 Ratings = 4.72
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lauder Lodge is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’m a qualified nurse and have worked in a children’s clinic as well as in older people’s care. Joining Lauder Lodge has been very exciting for me: commissioning a new home is a challenge, and the whole team has worked closely together to create a wonderful home from home.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know the team in the process, identifying their strengths and using them to everyone’s advantage. I’m enjoying watching the team grow while providing exceptional service and tailored care for every resident.

I’m infamous for my sweet tooth, so I particularly enjoy afternoon tea time, when I can spend time with the residents, sharing stories and memories over a cup of tea and, of course, freshly baked goodies!

Outside of work, shopping is a guilty pleasure of mine, followed by coffee dates with friends – usually just an excuse to get the biggest cake on display!
