Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

I recently had to make the decision to move my great aunt into a residential care home. This is never an easy decision however Lauder Lodge was highly recommended and known to me, it was my preferred choice, so I was lucky in so much as I did not need to go to numerous homes and carry out visit's during
these difficult Covid 19 times. I found that after I made initial contact the procedure was straight forward and Lauder Lodge were happy to help throughout this journey. I was even more delighted, following the assessment, that a room was available.


The move and settling in period, which is still ongoing, is not easy but the staff are so kind and caring and its such a reassurance knowing that your loved one is in safe hands.


Lauder Lodge focus so much on the care and well being of their residents which is what the family want as they approach this stage in their lives.

I have said goodbye to the Lauder Lodge family. I thanked those who welcomed my precious friend before lockdown, who checked his needs and preferences and answered my questions. I thanked those who picked him up when he fell and responded with compassion when his language and actions were far from respectful.
There were those who kept me informed during lockdown and welcomed me back warmly as I walked through the door again. There were those who took time to read the books he had written, so they could understand the person he had been before MS took hold of body and mind. There were others who baked a wonderful birthday cake and scrubbed his room when he was “resident of the day”. There were nurses, who knew just how to make him comfortable and how to ease his final days and hours, who spoke softly and respectfully to him as he slipped away. He would have wanted to salute you. To those who looked after me in his final hours, I thank you all for being part of this wonderful family.

It was a difficult decision to take my mother into care Lauder Lodge, staff were wonderful explaining everything to us reassuring us at every step. Without their help with legislation explanations, we would have floundered. I’m glad Mum was offered a place here, as she is thriving, the dementia care
is excellent, and we couldn’t have asked for any more.

I wish to thank all staff in Lauder Lodge for the care and kindness my friend received during her short term stay there. As a result of 'Lockdown,' my friend was feeling very miserable and lonely. The management of Lauder Lodge very kindly accepted her as a short term resident giving her the care and
friendship she required in these dark times. She was very well looked after during her stay. Her meals, she said, were the highlight of her day - the lovely freshly baked treats throughout the day were the icing on the cake. Thank you so much.

My wife, who suffers from dementia, was admitted to Lauder Lodge in April, just three months before our Golden Wedding - and the resulting separation could have been unbearable were it not for the care and kindness shown by the management and the entire staff. Covid restrictions have made visiting difficult,
but Lauder Lodge react as quickly as possible to National guidelines and facilitate visits whenever possible. They even surprised me with an additional indoor visit on my own birthday - and my wife, with the assistance of the talented staff, had made a beautiful birthday card. When a visit needed to be cancelled due to illness, management quickly scheduled another one! Roll on the time when things return to "normal" for us all, and I can get that long-awaited Golden Wedding cuddle. In the meantime, keep up the good work all you star-carers at Lauder Lodge. Your efforts are very very much appreciated.

I can highly recommend Lauder Lodge and the staff for the excellent and compassion shown towards my mother. From the start, the staff member provided us with the detailed knowledge required to make a very easy and informed decision and enabled us to make what was a very difficult decision easy. Although
it was difficult to visit due to COVID, I was reassured with the video, images and description of the settings and facilities available so my mum could enjoy her life with the best care available in a stimulating environment. The staff have been outstanding, always keeping us up to date and assisting with visits.
If you are ever unsure and have to make the difficult decision, then contact Lauder Lodge - they gave us peace of mind.

From the very first meeting, we had with management we had a great feel for the care home and had a great first impression.

I had to make urgent arrangements for my father when he suddenly became unable to live safely independently. The management staff at Lauder Lodge gave me clear advice and went out of their way to make sure that the options I was given were right for my dad. It is extremely clear that their focus is
on the well-being of the individuals under their care.
I am so relieved that my dad is now living in such a warm and friendly environment, which has helped him to make the transition from living alone in another city, to being part of the Lauder Lodge community, less of a trauma.
I would recommend Lauder Lodge to anyone looking for the best of care for their loved ones.

I visit a friend once a month and I meet a variety of staff who are without exception sensitive, unobtrusive, responsive and loving. The environment is physically appealing and the warmth of all the staff is genuine both in person and on the phone.

Mum has spent one month at Lauder Lodge on the nursing wing. Having visited mum most days over that period I have found the general atmosphere of this home to be positive, relaxed and welcoming. In particular, I have witnessed really supportive friendly and approachable staff who seem to have a genuine
interest in the care of my mum and other residents. This was particularly evident in the professionalism and sympathetic response to mums initial anxieties to a new environment her home to a home closer to her family has been made easier by their positive experiences at Lauder Lodge.

When our mum moved in last year, we were a family in despair. Having lost our dad aged 92 years only 3 months previously, our mum, aged 91, saw little prospect of life without dad. Having been married for 59 years, they were a team and inseparable. Neither wanted to move into a care home and it was
with such heavy hearts that we found ourselves unable to see any other option. Terminally ill, bereaved and unable to cope at home, mum moved into Lauder Lodge. We didn’t really expect her to live beyond a few weeks but thanks to the gentle, kind, patient and caring staff, who took time to get to know mum, together they established a relationship and provided a bespoke package of care for mum. We are incredibly grateful and couldn’t have asked for a more dignified and compassionate group of staff. Yes, it comes at a cost but, as a family, the peace of mind we gained in knowing mum was safe, cared for and supported both physically and emotionally, was the investment of a lifetime.

After looking at several different places for suitable Residential Care for our Mum who has Dementia we chose Lauder Lodge. Mum moved in at the beginning of November 2018 and instantly felt at home. Her room is lovely, it has its own seating area outside the patio doors where she can sit in the warmer
weather, but most importantly her room meets all her needs. Mum is a very sociable person and loves being involved, the daily activities keep her active and allow her to mix with other residents.
For the past few years, Mum was being cared for at home which knocked her confidence, self-esteem and she lost some of her independence, being in Lauder Lodge has allowed Mum to gain some of that back. If she wants to be alone she can have some quiet time in her room and when we visit, Mum invites us to spend quality time in the coffee shop.
The staff are friendly, approachable and very professional when carrying out their duties They treat the residents are individuals and with dignity.

My mother has been at Lauder Lodge since August 2018. She settled in very quickly and is enjoying her new home. It's just the right size and is light and bright with individual colour schemes in the rooms and pleasant public areas. All the staff are friendly, helpful and cheerful. Mum very much appreciates
going out every morning with a member of staff to buy her paper. She loves the cinema, the activities and the activities staff! The catering is excellent and she loves the baking. Recently she was amazed at the beautifully decorated Christmas breakfast table.

My mum is a resident on the floor where all the patients have dementia. The nurses and staff are all absolutely wonderful. My mum is still very lively and keeps them all on their toes. They make her feel loved.
Her accommodation is lovely, visitors are welcome to join in with activities and there
is a coffee shop which serves lovely cakes and scones to the visitors also. Visitors are also welcome to join residents for meals too. I live overseas and knowing that she is so well looked after is a massive relief and assurance. Thank you all the staff of Lauder Lodge - especially the care staff who are also excellent with the Dementia patients.

My Mum moved into Lauder Lodge in early June 2018. I am pleased to say that I could not be happier with Lauder Lodge. The relief is enormous - I was so worried but I am now sure that I could not have found anywhere better, and my Mum will be so much happier there than she was at home.


The bedrooms

and other facilities are excellent. Mum's room is lovely. All the staff are responsive, caring, attentive and kind.


We really appreciate the in-house Botanic Garden Cafe which is a great place to take Mum for a cup of tea/coffee and a lovely cake.


Two additional points. First, Lauder Lodge has super, big balconies with views over the sea and up to Arthur's Seat. This really adds to the experience for both residents and visitors. I visited several care homes in Edinburgh, before selecting Lauder Lodge, which felt rather enclosed and isolated in comparison. Also, Lauder Lodge is not hidden away. Its location means that it feels very much part of the surrounding community.

The carers at Lauder Lodge could not be nicer, everyone is welcoming and friendly. The facilities are excellent and kept spotlessly clean by the domestic staff. The activities coordinators arrange a wide variety of activities to cater for a range of interests.
The menus offer a choice at both lunch
and dinner and look good.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’m a qualified nurse and have worked in a children’s clinic as well as in older people’s care. Joining Lauder Lodge has been very exciting for me: commissioning a new home is a challenge, and the whole team has worked closely together to create a wonderful home from home. 


I’ve enjoyed getting to know the team in the process, identifying their strengths and using them to everyone’s advantage. I’m enjoying watching the team grow while providing exceptional service and tailored care for every resident. 


I’m infamous for my sweet tooth, so I particularly enjoy afternoon tea time, when I can spend time with the residents, sharing stories and memories over a cup of tea and, of course, freshly baked goodies! 


Outside of work, shopping is a guilty pleasure of mine, followed by coffee dates with friends – usually just an excuse to get the biggest cake on display!
