Chelmunds Court has a high quality, innovative residential care and nursing home design, specially developed to provide expert care, in a safe and stimulating environment, for up to 73 older people.

Residents can enjoy mobilising around the curved corridors of the building’s quadrangle shape, which internally houses a safe, courtyard garden.

A central, dementia-friendly café has been designed as an environment to stimulate past memories, where residents can bring friends and relatives away from their natural residence. Lounges and dining rooms are stocked with baked goods and coffee and tea facilities and act as activity and entertainment areas too.

A corner activity room, complete with a low-level kitchen for group baking ease, has an external door positioned close to the Community Centre, to encourage community integration ease, including building beneficial intergenerational relationships.

Chelmunds Court is a 73 bed residential home offering compassionate, professional care for older people, especially those who are living with dementia, both residential and nursing. Centrally located in the Chelmsley Cross area of North Solihull this purpose-built care home is an integral part of one of the UK's largest-ever regeneration programmes.

Being a specialist provider of dementia care the Chelmunds Court team are well-placed to provide the 24-hour support, assistance and expert nursing required for all their residents.

The surrounding area has been extensively remodelled to provide state of the art leisure, healthcare, residential and community facilities, including new schools and green areas.

Chelmunds Court in Chelmsley Wood benefits greatly from being at the heart of such an important new social project and a new community has been created which residents are a proud part of.

Mum has been in Chelmunds Court Care Home for a few weeks now. In that time she has been very well looked after. Every single member of staff has been kind, compassionate and seems to have a good relationship with each resident.
Her personal care is well catered for and her room and clothes are always
clean and tidy.
Communication with the home is excellent.
I am confident she is well cared for and safe in pleasant surroundings.
Thank you to all the staff.
Reply from Geraldine Alfonso, Home Manager at Chelmunds CourtHi Lynn,
Thank you so much for your kind words about our care home. It has been a pleasure caring for your mother. We're glad that we are meeting your expectations.

On arrival, Mom was frail, physically and mentally, exhausted, in decline, recently blind and 98. When we visit her now, she is bright, relaxed, mobile with assistance, cheeky and demanding. The staff's care has improved every facet of her well-being exponentially. The family are more relaxed because
she is cared for and safe. We are no longer apprehensive before visiting. Staff have been responsive to both Mom's needs and our concerns, too many examples for us to list. The other services that are on offer have been very beneficial. The interaction with the staff is based on them having a very personal relationship with Mom. It is apparent this level of care is given to all residents. The staff go above and beyond.

My husband has been in Chelmunds Court Care Home since June 2022. He has been cared for extremely well. The staff are always helpful and his room and clothes are spotlessly clean. The domestic staff must be congratulated on their care of the rooms. My husband has nothing but praise for the "girls" who
care for him.

Very welcoming and caring staff. Always willing to help. Rooms are overall clean but, as with dementia, lots of things are mislaid or go missing. Sometimes there is some confusion with handover as the next carer is not always aware of discussions when asked. Overall though, I am happy for my father
to be here and, most of all, he seems happy too.

Mom always appears clean and, from what I have seen of the meals, well-fed. She has started to make use of the things available, i.e. chiropodist and hairdresser, and when anything is wrong with her or she needs toiletries I am kept well informed.

My sister only recently moved to this home. The room is spacious and clean, she has her own washing facilities and adequate furnishing. She seemed content. The ground floor allows for access to the quad and a door leading out to it makes an ideal place to sit with visitors.

A dreadful place with their own staff raising allegations of neglect and harm towards my mother, an ex-resident. I witnessed their neglect myself and numerous complaints have been made by social care, the home staff, and me. Rude incompetent staff, poor communication, inadequate phone call response
lack of understanding of medical conditions, and mistakes made with regards to meds. So glad we’re no longer there and have found a truly caring home where patients’ full needs are addressed and real care is shown.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.819) out of 10 for Chelmunds Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.819 for Chelmunds Court is calculated as follows: ( (323 Excellents x 5) + (67 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 392 Ratings = 4.819
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chelmunds Court is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
