This is the fourth time my mother has stayed here for respite care. She has dementia (nine years) but it always happy to spend her time here. The food always looks so appetising, the surroundings so comfortable and accessing the outdoor balcony area is a treat for her. It looks and feels like a five-star hotel with every detail taken care of. The last couple of times when it has been time to go home, she has cried as she has enjoyed it so much. We're always confident that she's comfortable and well cared for during her stays at Barchester The Spires Care Home.
Thank you so much for your kind review. We always look forward to your mom coming to visit us and look forward to welcoming her back!

Barchester The Spires Care Home is a wonderful place. The staff are very loving yet professional, highly compassionate and attentive. As a visitor of a resident, they made me feel very welcome and were extremely helpful whenever I needed information or support. The atmosphere in the home is warm and peaceful. Additionally, management as well as staff are both very considerate and accommodating. It feels good to know my friend is being well looked after here. To everyone working at The Spires Care Home: thank you for everything that you do every day!
Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased that you have enjoyed visiting your friend here and we look forward to your next visit! It is a privilege to care for your friend, and he is such a big part of our family here.

Although I had said that I did not have sugar, no response! No puddings at first.
Dear Helen-Lesley, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you were pleased with the care you received. It was a pleasure to have you and we were all so impressed by your painting! Thank you again, hopefully, we will see you soon.

Great environment for those needing very minimal care. Most carers are lovely. Management very poor and lacking in compassion and overall ethos seems to be more about what they can't do than what they can do. Repeatedly told 'we're not a nursing home, we can't do that' and felt like there was a disclaimer on everything. Dad was only there for 6 weeks and had multiple falls. Injuries were not well cared for and some were ignored and not recorded. Several minor medical matters (which they could not treat) not escalated. When we chased we were promptly told they couldn't meet his needs so he had to move. This was only 5 weeks since their assessment. No discussion or warning. He had been accepted as a permanent resident and we were due to sign the contract in a few days time. Their 'requires improvement' CQC status is in part due to leadership and I agree. With hindsight, Dad should not have been accepted, they could not offer the required level of care, maybe a case of £££££ over care!

Mum only lived at The Spires for a few months until her recent passing but in that time she was looked after so well, we could not fault her care. Staff went above and beyond their duties to keep her happy, safe and as comfortable as possible. For that, we will be eternally grateful.

We'd like to express our sincere thanks to all the team at The Spires for their care of Mum over her time there. It began during Covid so there were all kinds of restrictions in place, but you enabled us to have good regular contact with her, and in the time since then you could not have been more helpful in the way you looked after her and always made the family feel welcome too. Mum was really contented at The Spires and often told me how pleased she was to be there. The friendliness and cheerfulness of the staff were always obvious and everyone seemed willing to go out of their way to help as much as possible. As the end of Mum's life approached, we were impressed with the care and sensitivity of everyone, and we're so grateful for all the ways in which you made Mum's passing so peaceful and stress-free, both for her and for the family.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so pleased that your mom was so happy here and it was a privilege to care for her. We are very proud of our wonderful staff team and will pass on your compliments.

They have provided Mum with a safe and caring environment, which became home to her. Nothing was too much trouble for the brilliant staff, who became like family to her. Regular visits were always such a pleasure for the family We were made so welcome and witnessing the dedicated work of all the staff gave us peace of mind that Mum could not have been better cared for. Thank you so much.

My family and I can only praise them for the way in which Dad, and all of us, were treated with care, respect and dignity at all times. There is a real sense of community at the Spires and so many inclusive activities for all residents. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Dad's personal care was excellent and all his medication was administered correctly. We would 100% recommend the Spires to anyone looking for a care home and will be forever grateful that Dad was able to spend his final days in such a wonderful environment.

Very well-run care home and a sense of community, for all the residents that I met, nice to see so many activities for those who want to join in but residents' health and well are a very important part of daily life.
Thank you for your review and for sharing your experience of being a volunteer with us, we really do value the time you give to our residents and the home and your feedback is gratefully appreciated. The care she receives from each individual care worker/catering team/general manager is amazing and they always fulfil her needs. Nan has improved in ways I didn’t think possible since being at The Spires and for the first time in many years I have the nan I grew up knowing back due to everyone who takes care of her! The team are so friendly and welcoming I couldn’t think of a better place for her to stay! Thank you again!

Considering Mum didn't want to go, she enjoyed her stay with you, the experience was much more pleasurable than Mum had thought and she learned a lot. If Mum had to go to a home again we would definitely choose The Spires. Thank you, everyone.

Hello, my name is Eva, and I am the General Manager here at The Spires Care Home.
I joined Barchester in June 2025 but bring over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare sector. I started my career as a Registered General Nurse in 2000, when I moved to England from my home country of Spain, and have run many homes as a Registered General Manager, leading successful teams and creating thriving communities for residents, staff, families and the wider public.
I believe that outstanding care starts with amazing people, and I am passionate about creating a supportive and vibrant community where both staff and residents feel safe, valued and can flourish. I am also an advocate for mental health awareness, well-being, and encouraging positive psychology. I want our residents to feel that life just begins when they join our care home, where we offer quality care, nutritious food, and enriching activities in beautiful, homely environments.
Outside of work, I focus on staying active, whether this is walking, hiking, dancing or going to the gym. Spending time with family and friends fills my time off work.
