My wife has been a resident at The Lodge for the past 7 months. She suffers from vascular dementia. Her accommodation is very good, and the meals are of a good standard. What excels here is the quality of care and support, which is outstanding. All the staff are well trained and are extremely pleasant.
Whilst I do not want to differentiate from a great team, I must mention Max, who handles the social events, etc. He is a gem and helps my wife through what is a very difficult period in her life.

Betty is very happy and settled in HPL and is receiving good care. She is very complimentary about the good quality of the food. She is on a special diet due to a health condition which is consistently monitored by the staff. All staff are friendly and welcoming and provide good care for Betty.

My

only comment is that the carpet in her room, particularly round where she sits is quite marked.

I'm extremely happy with the care my father is receiving at Hesketh Park Lodge. The home is beautifully kept, spotlessly clean & I'm always greeted by a friendly face at reception. My father is kept clean, shaven & in fresh clothes daily, his finger & toenails are clipped when needed & I only have to
ask when his hair needs a cut. He recently spent a day at hospital to have a growth removed from his arm and the staff were amazed at the condition of his skin as he was checked all over for any other growths. My father has been bed bound for a few years now and the nurses said they would have expected his skin to have breakouts. It meant the world to me to have been told by someone in the nursing profession & I know that is all down to the care he is receiving & for that I would like to express my thanks to the wonderful staff at Hesketh Park Lodge.

My mother (Anne) came to Hesketh Park at a very difficult time having been discharged by the NHS.
She was very, very poorly, we were distraught and grateful for the support they offered. I have given 5 stars but I would give more. EVERYONE at this organisation stepped up. They were outstanding. The
management had developed systems that WORKED VERY WELL. Nurses were AWESOME, so caring and extremely professional and effective. The care workers were LOVING and KIND. If anyone is reading this and wanting to get into this valuable area of care work COME HERE. They were SELFLESS. My only regret is her not being able to participate in the entertainments for residents that were available because she had a life limiting illness. This is a happy place for those who LOVE LIFE...
Reply from Emily Caley, Manager at Hesketh Park LodgeThank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience. Please know that we were grateful to have been given the opportunity to care for mum

I would like to thank everyone at the care home for their kind support during the tragic loss of my friend. This was the end of a very long journey they helped us all through from start to finish. I noticed an employee of the month box, I could never vote as there were too many to mention.
You are
all living day angels and clearly on the right career path. Thanks for everything from the bottom of my heart
Lots of love, Tish x

My mum needed a break from looking after my dad. I was impressed with what Hesketh Park Lodge could provide. The home visit prior to Dad being admitted put my mind at rest. Management team are excellent and ensured dad got a few extras to make his stay more comfortable. The care team were also excellent.
Thanks again.

My husband was in for respite for 4 weeks, he returned home but was unable to manage so had to return to the care home. The staff were excellent with their understanding of the situation and he soon settled back in. He likes a shower daily and the staff always make sure this happens. He is well cared
for. It is very clean and friendly care home.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My cousin came to Hesketh Park Lodge (HPL) from hospice care for continuing end-of-life care at HPL. We selected HPL after looking at several homes, some of which seemed complete hellholes. As we walked from the car park on our first visit, we noticed the attractive window paintings and thought it was
a positive sign that someone had taken the trouble to do that.

The interior of HPL was very pleasant, and the rooms were all we could want and expect. The information provided on our visit sounded good, so we selected this home for our loved one, although conscious that we hadn't yet seen evidence of the actual standard of care.

Care turned out to be not as good as the hospice (but nowhere would be), but was good or excellent for the duration of my cousin's stay until his death. There was an initial issue with mattresses deflating and lack of access to replacements, but that was never repeated. The staff were competent, friendly and caring. The events leader was especially good. 9/10 from us.

Reply from Jacob Kinsella, Manager at Hesketh Park LodgeThank you for your kind comments and we greatly appreciate the feedback. We will continue to strive for excellence and it was a pleasure to support you and your loved ones during your stay. Kind Regards

I looked at 22 care homes before deciding on Hesketh Park Lodge. My friend could propel herself in her wheelchair. Hesketh Park Lodge was excellent for this with smooth flooring, so hygienic! Her room was lovely as it overlooked the park, which she loved going in. In the beginning, she was encouraged
to bring her own possessions with her which she thought was wonderful, it made it feel like home. Towards the end the nurses looked after her leg ulcers and they said she was always happy and smiling even if it was painful. The staff enjoyed looking after her, nothing was too much trouble for them. She was always thanking them for what they did for her. The 3 years my friend was in there I never heard her complain, so I feel that after looking at 22 homes I did pick the right one and would actually recommend it to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.684)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.684) out of 10 for Hesketh Park Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.684 for Hesketh Park Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (256 Excellents x 5) + (96 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 361 Ratings = 4.684
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hesketh Park Lodge is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 79 registered maximum number of service users is 15.8, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Having worked in the care sector now for more than 15 years in various roles, the most fulfilling role has to be working with prospective residents, their family or their representatives. I find it most rewarding in helping to find the most suitable care home that will endeavour to meet the care needs of each new resident, along with show casing and promoting the many superb facilities each individual care home has to offer.

My main duty is just by being there every step of the way, helping to support families to take away some of the stress of trying to find the right care home for their loved one.

In my spare time I love nothing more than walking my cockapoo, travelling to different counties within the UK and visiting different countries to sample the different restaurants, sightseeing and experiencing different cultures, but most importantly spending quality time with family and friends.
