Both of my grandparents are currently staying in Ruddington Manor Care Centre and have been for some time. During this time, they have been well cared for, fed well, socialised well and their basic needs have been met well. Their medical needs have been met well and whenever myself or my sister have
approached staff, we have always been heard and helped. I have felt at ease knowing that my grandparents are in this facility due to the level of care that they have been given. Overall, it has been a positive and supportive experience.

My mother has been here for about eight weeks. We, as a family, have been happy with Mum's care. You have made Mum's stay a happy experience; she feels you have looked after her well. The staff are really good. Nothing is too much. Thank you to all at Ruddington Manor.

My mum appears to be looked after very well. The carers are kind and respectful. There is a focus on rehab/improvement, which is good. The head nurse is very approachable and always has time to talk and listen to any concerns.

Just a thought on food - consider most/all residents have dentures - skin on fruit and any hard food is a problem.

I am unable to review this place without breaking the policy content standards.
It was a joke from start to finish. I would feel better if he was on the asylum seekers' barge. I hope others are not fooled by the place.
Reply from Dawn Collett, Commissioning Director at Ruddington Manor Care HomeThank you for your comment which comes at the end of a long history of discussions. Clean, wide corridors. If that is all you want from a care home, then this may be the place for you. However, I do not recommend this place if you want even basic, person-centred care that can be relied on. Staff focus on tasks, rather than care. I have never seen a member of staff just spending time
with a resident or having a chat, yet I have seen them sat in the lounge doing nothing. There is no "team" approach. Staff work on the basis of "that's not my job" instead of, "it's everybody's job". Communication is poor and cannot be relied on. I have the same conversations over and over again. The care plans I saw were poorly written and there was little evidence that staff read them and certainly did not act on them consistently. If I asked for even basic care tasks to happen e.g. personal hygiene, I was made to feel like a nuisance. The culture which comes from senior managers is one of "accept poor standards or leave!"
Reply from Dawn Collett, Commissioning Director at Ruddington Manor Care HomeThank you for taking the time to bring your experience to our attention as we take all feedback very seriously. I am deeply sorry your experience was so negative especially as your relative lived in the home for such a long period of time. The team at the home will be disappointed to read your comments as I know they had a good relationship with your relative during the years he lived in the home. Unfortunately, there are times when a person’s needs change and they can no longer be safely cared for in a particular setting, despite all efforts. This was the situation with your relative and I know the team and the relevant authorities worked closely to support you during this difficult time. Once again, we are very sorry that you feel the experience did not meet your expectations and we wish your relative and you well.

My friend was a resident at Ruddington Manor for almost five years. Her move to be in full-time care was a big decision, as she was always an independent lady. What a very good decision that turned out to be. She settled well and really became part of the family, Ruddington Manor was her home. All staff
have been extremely caring. At the end of her long life, they showed huge kindness and there was a genuine fondness, it was mutual. Thank you.

My mother was in this care home for ten days. Safeguarding concerns. The name on her door wasn't changed. I was told inappropriate information in reception about my mum. The ambulance crew also made a complaint. I complained to the home and the care commission. I am relieved to see the latest inspection
is required improvement. The home admitted my mother. Couldn't get a drink because she couldn't walk to where they had left the water! Terrible, terrible place.
Reply from Dawn Collett, Commissioning Director at Ruddington Manor Care HomeI am deeply sorry you feel this way and have had such a negative experience. I understand your mother was very frail and poorly during the short time she spent at the home. The management team have responded to your written complaint, in line with the company complaints procedure. Your comments have been noted, where required lessons have been learned and changes put in place where appropriate. Again, I can only apologise for your experience and please accept my sincere condolences.

Thank you to the carers, nurses, OT, Physio, Housekeepers and Reception staff at Ruddington Manor Care Home. The care received on the pathway 3 floor was second to none. My mother was well cared for and the staff were professional, kind and caring to an Alzheimer's resident with challenging behaviour.
Thank you for all your support.

I would like to thank the manager and her staff for the loving care and attention shown to my late mum during her 14 months stay at Ruddington Manor Care Centre. It was a very difficult time watching mum decline especially during the final week of her life. I felt included in all decisions about mums
needs and fully supported by everyone. Thank you.
As she came to the end of her life, I witnessed exceptional care being shown not only to mum but to us as a family. The environment is lovely with an outstanding level of cleanliness. Mum loved the food, and it became towards the end her greatest pleasure. I would also like to thank mums designated GP who visited and assessed mum regularly and built up a lovely relationship with her. Mum's GP also rang me after mum had passed away to see how I was coping which was lovely. Communication between staff could be improved at times specifically linked to changes in the main family contact process when I was taking a much-needed holiday.

Dad was in rehabilitation from April to June.
Although the home looks beautiful there were a lot of underlining problems, mainly with staff shortages. This meant residents were left to wander around.
Whilst on visits as a family we bought up issues that had been missed by the care staff regarding
other residents' safety and dignity which were then dealt with. Perhaps if they spent more time caring for the residents and less time chatting together a lot of these issues would have been avoided.
Cleanliness on the surface was good but we had to complain several times about dad's room smelling of urine. This was actioned by the manager but the problem kept reoccurring.
Clothes went missing despite our request that we would do dad's laundry.
Dad was always thirsty, I don't believe enough drinks were offered. His inability to get a drink for himself left him dependent on them.
Two areas where I would congratulate Ruddington Manor are the quality of the Physio team and the food provided.
Reply from Laura Lambert, Care Home Manager at Ruddington Manor Care HomeThank you for taking the time to bring your experience to our attention. Our aim is to provide the best possible care to residents who live with us, whether on a permanent basis or to those who have a short stay on the community supported by the NHS. We do take any concerns very seriously and learn from any issues raised. Once again we are very sorry that your experience did not fully meet your expectations. However, we will pass your positive comments onto the Physiotherapists and chefs.

I am entirely dissatisfied with the lack of transparency regarding care home visiting. We have been prevented from visiting due to several outbreaks of Covid among staff members, and those visits permitted have been limited in duration. Both of which contravene Government Guidelines, 'the duration of
visits should not be limited if safe visiting practices can be maintained' and ' during an outbreak, care providers should also continue to offer visits in well-ventilated spaces with substantial screens, visiting pods or from behind windows'. I have tried to contact the care home manager, by phone and via email, however, they are repeatedly unavailable.
Reply from Dawn Collett, Commissioning Director at Ruddington Manor Care HomeWe appreciate how very difficult it has been for family members not being able to visit during the pandemic, as we do what we can to keep residents, staff and family members safe. It was a relief when the government allowed every resident to have an ‘Essential Care Giver’ as this has definitely made a difference to the wellbeing of residents. We welcomed this change in guidance and understand your loved one and other residents have managed to benefit from this opportunity. We do sincerley apologise that you were dissatisfied with your experience whilst the home was required to follow both government and local infection control guidance.

From the moment my husband and I stepped over the threshold of the Manor, we knew we had found a vibrant, welcoming home for my mother-in-law. This was a huge transition for her and the family, having to move her from her tight-knit community in York to Nottingham. I can only thank you for your support
during that time. Despite all the recent challenges, the staff treated my mother-in-law with love and respect and continued to bring joyful experiences into her life. Thank you to the well-being team for trying to guide her through many Skype calls and patiently encourage her to talk to a screen. She has been able to watch her great-grandson grow and entertain her. Thank you to all the caring team, hospitality, housekeeping, catering and administration staff. I appreciated the kindness and affection you gave her, particularly during the last few months of her life.
Thank you to the manager. Words will never be enough to express how grateful I have been for your guidance and support.

My mum lived at Ruddington Manor for 20 months from August 2019 to May 2021 when sadly she died. Although she did struggle to adjust initially, she settled in quite well and enjoyed watching the social/well-being events organised by the team and the general bustle of the place. Obviously, this last
year was the best and worst time to be there. Best because we knew she was cared for and occupied. Moreover, the home staff largely kept Covid out of the home and protected the residents really well. But of course, the downside was that I was only able to see Mum twice in her last year of life. Before that (and imposed restrictions) the home welcomed any family members visiting her and extended the same welcome to us as they did the residents. It is during the last two months of Mum's life though that Ruddington Manor staff came into their own. They cared for her with great commitment and respect. Her passing was peaceful because of it.

Ruddington Manor was a jewel of a find when my mum eventually became too frail to live independently. It was a huge change for her, of course, but it wasn't long before she was joining in with the activities and interacting with the staff and other residents. I have been particularly impressed with
the current manager, who is not only very capable but also eminently approachable, with a hands-on approach to her role. The wellbeing team leader and staff are really enthusiastic and excellent at engaging with residents. The care staff are professional and truly do care about their clients, dealing with difficulties with patience and compassion. The same goes for the hospitality team members with whom I have interacted. During the pandemic, we have been able to keep in touch via Skype sessions and visits when allowed. I could not guess how many calls I made to the receptionists and office staff over this period but they were always answered with respect and warmth. Highly recommended.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.706)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.706) out of 10 for Ruddington Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.706 for Ruddington Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (382 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (20 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 442 Ratings = 4.706
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ruddington Manor Care Home is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been a registered nurse since 2008. I initially worked in a hospital, but when I started working in a care home, I knew that my heart belonged to elderly care. I joined New Care in 2019 as a Deputy Home Manager, and although I had to leave in 2021 to become Home Manager then proceeded to become a Regional Manager. I know that I would want to go back to working for New Care as the company holds the same values as I do. I love how caring the company is, not just to the residents but also to the staff. They make sure that everyone is well taken care of. I have been fortunate to be working alongside the wonderful team at Ruddington Manor. We are one in aiming to give the highest quality of care to our residents in the home and improve their quality of life.

In my spare time, I like to spend it with family. I have a 10-year-old son, Marco, and an 11-month-old baby, Olivia, who keep me busy with their antics in my free time.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Before my promotion to Deputy Manager, I started working at Ruddington Manor as Head of Residential Care in 2021, this was following a few years as a Senior Care Assistant for those living in Residential Dementia care. I found myself working in a Dementia Specialist Nursing Home whilst at University studying Health and Social Care. I found a passion for elderly care and have gradually progressed within the industry.

Whilst New Care has supported me in completing my Level 5 in Leadership and Management within Health and Social Care, I was initially drawn to the home by the warm atmosphere. Our team realize the company values daily and naturally builds such meaningful relationships with those in our care, and their loved ones, that it is easy to be proud of what we do and enjoy coming to Ruddington Manor each day.

I began working at Ruddington Manor in April 2022, and from the very beginning, it felt like both the care sector—and this home in particular—was exactly where I was meant to be.

In February 2024, I was proud to be promoted to Administrator, and I’ve never looked back. Ruddington Manor is a truly special place, full of life, love, and kindness.

I take great pride in providing support to families, residents, and staff whenever it’s needed, and over time, I’ve built strong, meaningful relationships across the home.

Job Title: Wellbeing Coordinator

I began my career at Ruddington Manor in September 2023 as a Care Assistant, where I spent a year and a half dedicating myself to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. During this time, I discovered my true passion lay in bringing joy, creativity, and meaningful experiences to residents through activities and companionship.

This led me to transition into the Wellbeing team as a Wellbeing Assistant, where I could focus on making a positive difference in residents’ daily lives. In September 2025, I was promoted to Wellbeing Coordinator, a role that allows me to combine my kindness, respect, and love for others with my drive to create uplifting moments.

Job Title: Head of Hospitality

Since 2009, I have built extensive experience across the hospitality, hotel, travel, and events industries, developing a strong passion for delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences. Throughout my career, I have gained a deep understanding of people’s needs, ensuring care, attention to detail, and empathy in every role I have undertaken.

I am currently proud to serve as Head of Hospitality at Ruddington Manor Care Centre. Working in this environment feels especially meaningful to me, as I was very close to my grandparents. That personal connection inspires my commitment to providing respectful, compassionate, and high-quality care to every resident - just as I would for my own family.

Job Title: Head Chef

I joined Ruddington Manor as Head Chef in April 2023, bringing with me 13 years of experience across restaurants, hotels, and care homes.

What inspires me most about working in care is the chance to combine my love of cooking with the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives. For me, food is never just a meal - it’s a way to show care, quality, and heart.

The best part of working at Ruddington Manor is the genuine sense of family. We’re one team, always supporting one another to give residents the very best experience.

One of the proudest moments in my career was cooking for the Nottingham Forest Football Team - a true highlight I’ll never forget!

Outside of the kitchen, I enjoy football, travelling, and exploring new cuisines from around the world - both cooking and tasting them.

A favourite quote of mine is: “Do something good and good will come back to you.” It’s a principle I strive to live and work by every day.

Job Title: Home Trainer

Having worked for New Care, now Lovett Care, for over 7 years, I feel that from the very beginning, I knew I had made the right decision to work here. Here we have in-house trainers in all of our homes, which is a great advantage to the care industry, as there are always opportunities for all staff members to learn new things and career development within the home, gaining support and guidance from the manager and home trainer. I aim to provide top-quality training to all staff, which allows them to provide top-quality care to the residents
