The extensive range of features and services is what sets Worthington Lake apart. The open-plan central hub provides easy access to a number of areas, such as the tea room, dining room with terrace and private patios. Worthington Lake offers an amazing, inclusive, safe, environment for our family members during a quite worrying time of their lives. Knowing Margaret is safe, happy and cared for means the world to us all. Worthington Lake makes every effort to ensure all residents are cared for to the highest standard.

Mum's move here has been very successful. She feels safe here and loves the staff. She has improved since she came here because there is more stimulation with people to talk to, and lots of activities to do. She never asks to go 'home'. She seems happy here.

My dad had broken his hip and following a hospital admission he returned to Worthington Lake. The staff gave him reassurance, care and support to settle him back home and to regain his confidence. The professionalism of the carers, the occupational therapist and all staff have enabled Dad to feel happy
back at Worthington Lake and to walk safely again. Thank you for the extra TLC provided to Dad and the family, particularly at this time, it is much appreciated.

Our friend, a window and an only child with no children or siblings, sadly developed Alzheimer's disease. She asked me to be her support and power of attorney along with her cousin and her son who live in Durham. She was asked but didn't wish to move to Durham. I was asked to choose a home in Wigan.
Worthington Lake was my choice and the family agreed. She had lived there nearly four years. The management were amazing and she had the best life possible with her new 'family'. A beautiful and amazing home.

We feel that our relative is safe and secure in the friendly, reassuring atmosphere created within the setting. Although our relative can sometimes be challenging, she is treated with the utmost respect. Staff are excellent, friendly and sympathetic to house guest's individual needs, to which they cater
for in a caring and loving way.

Mum's been in the home for now 6 months and has settled in amazingly well. All the staff are wonderful and welcoming. Communication is good if there are any issues. We are extremely happy that Mum is both safe and happy in her new home.

I regularly visit a resident here, and each time I have been I have found Worthington Lake care home to feel warm and welcoming. It doesn't have the feel of a typical care home it feels more like a home away from home or a 5* hotel. The meals are homemade each day and include lots of variety. The staff
are friendly and warm and are happy and smiling which is really nice to see. Residents are smartly dressed and the home itself is very clean. I was impressed by the activity schedule and the number of trips out for residents in their own minibus. I would highly recommend this care home.

I am so glad we chose Worthington Lake for Mum's twilight years. Due to her dementia, she may not always want to be there but it is comforting to know she is safe and looked after so well. Mum loves all the staff who treat her as their family. The staff are all super friendly and approachable. With
beautifully decorated rooms, you can make you own and in a beautiful setting around the lake, where they walk round often. I would not hesitate to recommend Worthington Lake. Thank you.

My father has been a resident at Worthington Lake for almost a year now and I have nothing but praise for the home and staff. They are always so very kind, caring, attentive and cheerful and treat my father with dignity and respect. In addition, the facilities are exceptional, and the home is modern,
spotlessly clean and above all homely. My father has a spacious ensuite bedroom which is always clean and tidy when I visit. The food is home-cooked and very appetising and my father especially likes the mid-morning and afternoon sweet and savoury treats. He also enjoys participating in activities such as trips out for lunch or listening to musical performances on the piano. I feel my father is being very well cared for at Worthington Lake and would have no hesitation recommending the home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment. All in all an exceptionally well-run home.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.895)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.895) out of 10 for Worthington Lake Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.920 for Worthington Lake Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (210 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.92
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Worthington Lake Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
