The extensive range of features and services is what sets Worthington Lake apart. The open-plan central hub provides easy access to a number of areas, such as the tea room, dining room with terrace and private patios. Both my parents moved to Worthington Lake in January 2021. They both suffer from Alzheimer's and Vascular dementia and independent living was getting very difficult. My father had become suicidal and we have later established this was because of the number of cold calls and scams he received by mail
or by phone call. My mum was becoming paranoid and difficult to help, spending all her time in bed watching TV. The home has given them a new lease of life. As a family, we have seen an improvement in their mood and social interaction, whilst we have the knowledge that they are being cared for and are safe. The house carers are just lovely and although we are not able to go into the home at this time we have witnessed them dealing with very difficult situations on facetime with kindness, skill and patience. During covid, entering a care home has been difficult for my parents as they have at times been cut off from family but the staff have more than bridged the gap. Thank you.
Reply from Mill Car, Marketing at Worthington Lake Care HomeHi Tracey,

It is an absolute pleasure to have your mum and dad as part of our family here at Worthington Lake, they bring joy to everyone in the home and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you back into the home.

It was hard to choose a care home for mum last summer when we couldn't visit due to covid restrictions, but mum liked the photos of Worthington Lake on their website and Facebook. I'm sure my family and I made the right choice because mum settled in quickly and is happy living there.

My Father-in-Law is a resident of Worthington Lakes Care Home and the standard of care has been exceptional since he arrived. The staff have been friendly and supportive and have provided a wealth of information when needed. The Deputy Manager has been easily contactable and has answered any questions
the family have had, she has taken the time time to speak to all our family members, which is quite a large family as requested. She has also met family members on a regular basis when visiting and provided updates and reassurance, especially when family members have been concerned when ending the visit. The activities that are organised at Worthington Lakes has been both stimulating and entertaining for my Father-in-Law, who has been a willing participant. I would recommend Worthing Lakes Care Home to others as the staff have most definitely met my Father-in Law's needs and there is no doubt there has been an improvement in his well-being both mentally and physically.

Our mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in December 2020, lived alone and deteriorated rapidly. After looking at several homes we found Worthington Lake. The first two weeks were difficult as mum settled in but the home was very supportive and assured us mum would be okay. Fast forward a couple of months,
mum is eating properly, enjoying regular exercise and has made a lot of new friends. She is a lot more alert and bright in our conversations and is really happy at Worthington Lake. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. Thank you to everyone there for all you do.

Our parents received the devastating diagnosis of mixed dementia in March 2020. Despite excellent at-home care from another service, it became obvious that they needed not only practical care but interactive care, care that would enable them to live an enriched life. We found this in Worthington Lake.
The transition hasn't been easy due to their condition but the kindness and support of the staff and the social activities are amazing. Through Covid, we have been able to use the Retreat in order to visit and are just looking forward to the time when we can share a whole day with them and their new friends. Thank you for putting light and laughter back into their lives, freeing them from the worries of trying to maintain the daily struggle with life with mixed dementia and for us to see our parents living, loving and thriving. It is difficult to fully assess some of the questions below as we have yet to see their rooms. However, our parents tell us they are very happy and we can see that.

Mum has been at Worthington Lake Care Home for 8 months. Not a move we wanted to make so were very apprehensive and upset. Since her time in the home, Mum is no longer lonely and is encouraged to live as independently as she can in the home and garden setting. The staff who look after Mum are both kind
and caring towards her. Mum feels she has made positive relationships with the staff and it is nice to see her interacting with them when we go to visit. Mum feels comfortable and safe here. There are many varied activities - Mum's favourite being the Art and Craft sessions. During Covid, visiting restrictions meant that we could not go into the Care Home, however, the retreat facility or "Posh Shed" as we like to call it, which is a safe bubble environment, has been a blessing and allowed us to see Mum once a week. Thank you for looking after our Mum.

Mum came to Worthington lakes for 6 weeks respite while waiting to move closer to home. It was difficult not to be able to settle her in, due to covid restrictions but we were reassured by how warm and capable the lady who took Mum in was. Since then, they have patiently taken our (many) calls and have
posted pictures on Facebook of Mum and the other residents enjoying activities. Also, my sister, our named visitor, has been made very welcome in nice surroundings. I expected to be worried that my mum was in a home but my worries proved unfounded as Mum seems happy and content.

Unable to visit my brother, I have followed the activities of Worthington Lakes on Facebook. I think the staff have gone above and beyond to make a wonderful Christmas for their residents. The staff have been remarkable in entertaining and involving their residents, the decorations look great and the
food so good. I have just spent my first ever Christmas alone because of the virus and I have felt quite envious of my brother having all this wonderful care and attention. Well done and a huge thank you to all the staff.

Dad has been at Worthington Lake since Sept 2019. It was a big step for him but he was unable to cope at home on his own anymore. The surroundings, staff and care provided are way above any other care homes we visited in the area. It is comforting to know he is being well cared for.

My mum is currently a resident in this care home, and I can not praise the home or the staff enough for the care that my mum is receiving.
Staff are all fully trained in dementia care and treat my mum with patience, dignity and respect.
The owner is a very caring individual and strives to put the
needs of the residents at the forefront, and welcomes any feedback from families.
I feel that I can live my life knowing that my mum is well cared for.
The food is prepared freshly, and cakes are baked daily.
Any visitor is treated as part of the family and even having a spot of lunch with my mum when I visit is not a problem.
I would recommend this care home as being one of the best in the area.

We moved Mum to Worthington Lake last November from another care home in the area because she was unsettled there. It took a while for her to accept her new situation, but thanks to the very friendly and attentive staff, she is now settling in. Worthington Lake is very modern, beautifully decorated
and furnished throughout, and in a wonderful location by the lake. The atmosphere in the home is noticeably very lively, and they have regular activities to keep the residents happy and entertained. The management and staff are clearly doing a first-class job.

My father-in-law is currently a resident here at Worthington Lake Care Home, the staff that look after him are excellent, and both myself and the rest of his family are relieved to know that he is now being cared for the way he deserves to be.
The home is beautiful, friendly and welcoming. I would
not hesitate but to recommend this to anybody currently looking for somewhere special to care for their relatives, when they are unable to live alone, being a nurse myself, I can appreciate the standard that is being achieved at this care home.

Worthington Lake was recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad she did. The individual care and consideration given by all staff to all residents are second to none. My mum is so much happier and settled now and that means I am happier too. I enjoy my visits as I am always made to feel so welcome
at any time. The home itself is light, airy and spacious with a good connection to the outdoors from lots of large windows to experience the wonderful setting, even in the winter months. The rooms are extremely clean, comfortable and relaxing, all having large and well equipped en-suite bathrooms.
I would most certainly recommend Workington Lake to anyone who wants peace of mind that their loved one is being cared for to the very highest standards.

Since viewing Worthington Lakes prior to its opening and upon each visit since, I've been nothing less than 100% impressed with all staff, their attitude, their ability to settle new residents and their genuine care and consideration to both residents and their respective families. I feel the setting
and the concept and the quality of staff all display all the hallmarks of an outstanding facility for people with dementia. I think, having visited other facilities, Worthington Lake is the gold standard other homes should look to emulate.

I am forever grateful to an online social networking service for highlighting this wonderful home to me. The bespoke build design and model of care for dementia puts the house-member at the centre of their own care. All staff demonstrate a genuine commitment and interest in the well being of all. The
care given I rate as outstanding. Open visiting facilitates work commitments. Activities, both physical and mental, are engaging for all. I noticed a significant improvement in well-being after one week. What a wonderful model for care. I hope the rest of the World takes note - this is how it should be done. Congratulations to you all - you superstars. Keep up the research and thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.895)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.895) out of 10 for Worthington Lake Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.920 for Worthington Lake Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (210 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.92
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Worthington Lake Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
