My husband has been in Glenholme Holdingham Grange for eighteen months. He has had dementia and mobility problems as well as multiple medical issues. The staff have listened and acted upon my wishes and have always been supportive. My husband has not been easy to care for but all the staff have been
patient and understanding. Although my husband is no longer with us, I will miss the staff as they have been like family.

Mum is an amputee, having lost her leg to cancer in the 90s. For decades she was able to cope and live a fulfilling life. However, in the last two years, Mum has suffered from various physical ailments and also a deterioration in her mental capacity. It became so acute six months ago that the family
feared for her life. Mum moved into Glenholme Holdingham Grange direct from the hospital. She was hardly eating and was struggling to drink much, would slip in and out of lucidity and become very weak. However, within six months of enjoying the friendly and consistent care of the staff at Glenholme, along with the beautifully appointed facilities of the home, we have seen a remarkable transformation. Mum is now eating healthily and regularly. She is fully engaged emotionally with the staff and her fellow residents and is really enjoying her life again. She loves it in the home and often rings to tell us the latest humorous tale involving the staff or one of her friends.
Reply from Rebecca Cragg, Registered Manager at Holdingham Grange Care & Nursing HomeHi Richard,
We are all delighted Mum is now well and so settled.
Thank you for your great review.

My mum has been in the home for 15 months. I cannot fault anything that the home/staff have done or provided during that time. The food Mum has been provided with is nothing but restaurant quality. The staff have been exceptional. The activities provided when Mum was well enough to join in were fab.
The environment is also beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Glenholme to anyone in the future.

Upon finding this care home for mum, we were immediately impressed by the friendly staff, lovely modern facilities and service provided. So much so that we decided there and then that this was the right home. Since mum moved in, everything has perfectly matched and exceeded our original expectations.
The staff have been absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful. Their professionalism is exceptional. The facilities are immaculate and the overall service is second to none. Mum has settled in very well and absolutely loves her room and the activities. Overall the care home is faultless. Our greatest thanks to all the staff who really make the difference.

Mum was admitted to the hospital in early March. After a couple of weeks, she decided against further treatment and wanted to return to Glenholme. Over the past two years, and especially the last few days of Mum's life, the staff went above and beyond to look after her, make her feel comfortable and
continued this right to the end. Mum passed away in her own room with familiar faces, voices and all else around her. Thanks to all at Glenholme.

Having spent nearly three years at Glenholme my father sadly passed away on the 4th of January. During his last few weeks, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful ensuring my father was well cared for and treating him with the utmost dignity and respect. The manager and her whole
admin team were fantastic too - my brothers and I couldn't have asked for more compassion and understanding right up until the very end - bravo!

Glenholme is a safe environment providing utmost care. The staff are professional, kind, understanding, loving, patient, supportive, friendly, listen and are knowledgeable. Residents are 100% priority and this shows through the staff's dedication. Glenholme doesn't say care home, it shouts family, community
and togetherness.

The care offered to my father was very good and adapted well to his declining health. The staff monitored his health closely and were very good at calling in doctors when required. Once it had been recommended to have 'end of life care' put in place, the home responded quickly, moving him to their nursing
unit and applying for the appropriate funding for him, we had nothing to do.
We were kept informed quickly of any significant incidents and, following our request, had a weekly update on Dad's progress via email. The staff were always approachable and happy to answer questions.
Before his health deteriorated, he enjoyed both the activities on offer and the ability to have his own space as well.
The ability to be able to have 'patio' visits is really positive for the home.
I would happily recommend this care home as they made the last days of my father's life as comfortable as possible.

I cannot comment on certain areas etc as we have not been allowed in places such as the lounge, dining and even the resident's rooms. Also "treated with dignity" I just hope so as again not being allowed in to see what "goes on" it is difficult to access.

My Dad came to this home for respite and end-of-life care. The home and the staff are fantastic. My sisters and I were so happy that our Dad was being so well looked after and the care was second to none. Glenholme is like a hotel, the place is immaculate and the staff are amazing. They responded promptly
to everything and were always friendly and efficient. My Dad knew he didn't have long left and they made a difficult time much easier for everyone. The staff made sure he was never in pain and comfortable. He really did have Rolls Royce care and they were committed to not only caring for our Dad but looking after us as a family as well.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.997) out of 10 for Holdingham Grange Care & Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.997 for Holdingham Grange Care & Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (668 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 670 Ratings = 4.997
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Holdingham Grange Care & Nursing Home is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
